I am worried about Brandi. I think they left before she got my PM and this is what I am reading on MSNBC.

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Weakening Tropical Storm Ernesto poured torrential rain across North Carolina and Virginia on Friday, flooding highways, forcing evacuations and knocking out power to thousands of homes and businesses.

The system made landfall just before midnight on the heels of thunderstorms that already had drenched North Carolina.

On the Outer Banks, waves and standing water shut down part of the main road, and a roughly 12-mile section of Interstate 40 on the mainland was closed briefly early Friday by flooding, the state Department of Transportation said. High water and fallen trees also slowed travel in Virginia.

That doesn't sound good. I lived in Wilmington NC...their ground doesn't hold water very well....they flood easily

We can't reach a lot of people in Viginia...lots of flooding in offices we work with. One lady went out to her car in the parking lot and the water was up to her short...this was the story being told in our office....but I don't even think an outside office door would open into flooding waters that bad...but that's the story and they're sticking with it.

Hope everyone is okay - prayers and pixie dust to everyone!! :grouphug:

Wilmington and I-40 are not an issue for Brandi going to the Outer Banks, but all the rain in Virginia and the Outer Banks road flooding are problems...

MICKEY PLAN

Can those who are doing the scrap swap, head to the google group and pick a topic if you are still doing the swap. Since there has been no action on the group, I am going to close it up early so we can get started. Looks to be around 8 swappers. You can find the link for the group on the first post here on this thread or on the group website.

THANKS!

Pj

PJ,
I've never done a scrap swap before. How does it work? Give me all the details so I can figure out if I can join in. I looked at the google group, but would love more info on how this works. I have a new Michael's craft store opening near here (used to drive 30 minutes for a good craft store!)
Thanks!

Wow! My DD is in school already! She started Aug 14. Middle schoolers do get one break here though. School does not start until 9:30, so they can sleep in a little.

Our schools almost never start before Labor Day. They tried it the year DD13 was in kindergarten and people felt like their lives were destroyed. In the Philadelphia area, people believe it is a God-given right to go "down the shore" (that's "go to the beach in New Jersey") every summer weekend through Labor Day. And somehow starting school earlier would ruin that! So your DD can laugh when mine is still in school until the third week of June.

Marielle,

A.C. Moore tends to be cheaper for stuff from what i've seen. They have a store locator on their website.

and yes penny do explain more..... I'd be new to scrapbooking but i know my DD is interested and wants me to buy all kinds of stuff.... I know AC Moore has a sale on all scrapbook papers right now.

Right now, AC Moore and Michael's are about 30 minutes away (and they're within a minute of each other on the same road!). Michael's is usually a bit higher but I try to limit myself to sales only! The new Michael's will be 5 minutes away, so that's a big difference.

Hope Brandi is ok.....maybe they are coming back home?

Our schools started 8/7 here in Florida.

BECKY DO NOT READ

:teacher:
Each of us will make matching, or close to matching, kits for each member of the swap. I have chosen Sail-a-way, so I will make, let's say 8 kits. And each of the other members will make 8 kits. On the ship we will swap out the kits and will come home with 8 different kits to start our cruise scrapbooks.

I am at work so this is from memory, Our kits will include one of Title/Topper/Boarder; 1 of - 4x6 photo mat/frame or 2 other sized photo mat/frames; 1 journal item; a set of 8 (4 if fancy) brads or eyelets; 1 extra - store bought or handmade. All of these will be designed to convey the theme chosen or work with photos from that occassion or local.

I will bag up each kit in a ziploc and then pack them all in a larger bag to bring with me on the ship, and we will swap out our kits. There is no cost, except for the materials you will need to make your pieces. This is my first time "hosting", but If you head over to the swap board in the creative community down below us, you will find lots of advice.

I don't think you will miss it. I think we will be lucky (is that the right word here :confused3 ) if we hit 19,000. :)

Now Becka, that's not the right attitude!!!

In fact, it is cold and rainy so for the first time in a very long time I don't have any plans on a Friday night and I just may sit here and chat, desing T shirts, door signs and buttons....what a great Friday night. I might not even stop to make my family dinner!

Okay - who knows a safe site to download the disney font? I remember reading on the creative diboard that one site gave someone a virus....I'm gonna go on there now to check... but can anyone recommend a site for my little work tonight?

THIS IS FUNNY...well, funny in a sick, rainy day kinda way....I found it posted by Tikilyn on teh community boards....again...not my story!!!

OMG! I'm FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How do I tell this story. I can't believe its really happening to me. A little back story. My dh is working in another state. He's due to arrive home tomorrow afternoon. About a month or two ago I got a new puppy. I just finally told him about the dog. He wasn't to thrilled about it but oh well. Dog is here to stay.

Fast foward to today. I put said puppy in the kids bathroom (we're still potty training). I leave to school (my third day) around 9 am . I have a whole day of classes from 930 to 230pm. So the puppy stays in the bathroom for about six hours. She does real good and doesn't have any accidents. Well today when I pull up to the driveway I see water coming out of my garage. Umm ok a water heater pipe must have broke. So I go inside and head straight to the garage. When I open the door I hear water POURING Down. I look up and sure enought water is coming from the ceilling!! OMG!! I run upstairs and the carpet is soaking wet in the hall and my dd's bedroom. I open the door to the bathroom and water comes gushing out the door. I'm so shocked by all of the water. I hear what sounds like the shower is on. Nope not on. Wheres the water coming from. I look at the toliet.

The said puppy chewed a whole in to the hose that runs from the wall to the toliet!! I'm freaking out. I get a hold of a wet vac but yeah like thats gonna help. I call my neighbors husband and he rushes over. So here I sit with my carpet pulled up and drying out the padding is outside drying.

The best part of all is that I think dh is on his way now!!!! Uggg. I'm so upset I don't even know what to do.

I think I'll go and dig a hole now so I can be burried in it! Anyone got a shovel I can barrow?

It happens... We tried to put Abby in our bathroom one night when she was little. She crawled behind and under the toilet and then did try to chew on the water line a little.

Needless to say we brought her cage up to our room from then on.

no word from Lisa yet but i left a message on her DH's phone....

Thanks Kristina. How's life down there? Are you guys getting lots of rain? I guess this will be a test of whether our basement will be flooding!!! And to think we JUST put everything back where it belonged! :sad2:

I spent the morning at the Saturn dealer. Had a problem with my brake roters (sp?). All fixed up and no charge for the brake pads or fixing the problem. :thumbsup2
