We did leave the books long enough to go to a wedding today... It was one of our very favorite teachers. She did her student teaching when Elizabeth was in second grade, and was so amazing, she got a position there (actually stayed in that same classroom; Elizabeth's teacher retired). Then Hannah had Miss M. in second grade last year, too. She invited students to the wedding Mass, and of course we were thrilled to be there. Before the ceremony, the photographer came up to us and said Miss M. wanted her students to stay in church for a photo right after the service.

It was a beautiful day and a beautiful service!

I am waiting for Alex to finish the book before I start (HP). He had to work today, so I don't know how long it will take him to get done. I'm in no hurry though. I would rather take my time and read it - of course, everyone will probably be talking about what happens, and I will have to put my hands over my ears and sing while they are talking . . .

Just a quick note on the job front . . .

After meeting with a good friend who is also an attorney, I have decided to pursue a slightly different tack . . .

I have decided to start a small side solo practice - doing simple things like wills, etc. My goal is to get this off the ground sometime shortly after the first of the year. I want to spend time researching what I will need, and also possibly converting Alex's bedroom once he is moved in for Med school into a small home office. I am not going to aggressively look for any other job, as I decided the prospect of finding something that I will be REALLY happy with and working for someone else is not what I really want to do (of course, I will leave myself open to any incredible offer that may come along). I plan on doing this around my current job on nights and weekends. We'll see how it goes.

I think I will be happier having something I can call my own, and who knows where that could go in the future? I am excited thinking about it, and thought I should have done this a long time ago.

Good luck with this venture, John! It sounds like a great opportunity. While what I am doing is on a much smaller scale, I have to say that This is the best job that I have had because I am not in an office environment dealing the the mess of office politics. I also love being able to set my own schedule and make my own hours. We have plans for the next two weeks so I will only be working M, Tu, W & Su. I'll be doing the 9 am - 12 am shifts but that will let me take 3 1/2 days off. :)

John1, that really is an exciting prospect. We wish you well with it. Working from home would be lots of fun, but I would imagine that after your practice gets built a bit you will need to get an office---just to keep folks out of your home.

You know, John. If you are going to be working with the elderly I think that being willing to travel to their residences would be a real asset to increase your business. I don't know of too many lawyers who make housecalls and since transportation can be an issue for some, though not all, elderly I think that would be a wonderful option for them IMO. I guess that is from the perspective all of the APS case reports that I have been doing lately.

Yup, I was thinking that too Lisa. We'll see, I have about a million thoughts on what to do, and how to do this - but one thing is for sure, I told Amy I would not plan on bringing clients here - it would all be done via phone or personal visits to the client. The office here would be for my convenience in being able to work - BTW Lisa, since you are an IC, have you looked into deducting your business expenses (computer, internet service, etc.) and the cost of maintaining your work space dedicated to your business in your home?

Good luck John....

I'd love to do some consulting work myself on the side.... But i don't even want to know what the professional insurance liability costs would be in my state...

Wills you say....Andy and i do need to update ours.... Ours was just a simple will about 8 yrs ago....

and i know several little things i'd like to add....

:thumbsup2 Best wishes John.

Annette and our DIL went to the book store at midnight last night to buy the new Harry Potter book. She has already finished it and plans to read it again tomorrow! :goodvibes

John1 - Good for YOU!!!

Now, my friend, can you be MY life coach?!

Is there anything that couples books, cards, Apple Inc?

What did I say my best day would be? I experienced a blast at the HP party it was in the local Paper Store which I LOVE  - (books, cards, gifts), and I had my iPhone. Or rather my nephew had my iPhone. I started reading HP when I got home - me! who has NOT seen all of the movies and did not finish book 1. I was really getting into it. Anyway I fell asleep reading. I turned it over to my nephew this morning. Poor thing was exhausted. Bella is too young for Harry yet and we didn't tell her about the late night but I did get her the coolest wand. You push a button and it lit up and made the magical wand sound. Way cool. I want one myself. Of course the store had 20% off everything as well AND they had the black stallion webkinz.

I loved the hustle and bussle of it all - a lot of people and they were all for the most part really happy. Love that!

And be sure to say, "Lalalalalalalalalalalala:rotfl: ".(Or is that singing?)

She sounds like a princess: . What a sweet lady.

Liability Imsurance may not be that bad. Mine is only 150 bucks a year. That is for 6 mil/3 mil, plus extra coverage for home.

Yes! Good Luck with your venture John. I am sure you will be MUCH happier. My Sister works from home now, as a consultant, and she is a lot happier. She even has a deal worked out with one company whereby she can subcontract some of the workload. Pretty cool. She hired our brother, who is here in Oregon, to help with some of the work. She is in Mission Viejo, CA. She makes more than I do, with no driving required.

Ahhhh, I am so envious. (But NOT sinfully so.):rotfl:

Hi Brack! Wow. A speedreader huh? I haven't read any of them yet. I haven't even seen Pirates 3 yet. AUGH! I need to get a life. :lmao: I just seem to be too busy. That just 'ain't' right. Well, soon, soon..........:goodvibes

I saw an EOS 5D online, new, for $1385, or close to that. I was hesitant to buy because the price seemed so low. I wonder if it comes with a battery? It was advertised as "Body Only". New, with USA warranty. ??? Still scares me, because it is at least $2900 on sale everywhere else.
Wow. How about that EOS 1D Mark III? :cool1:

That must be Carla....;) . Hi there :cutie: !

Gee, I better go back a bit and see what's going on. Where's PJ  ?
AND I forgot to even say "Hi Everybody"!

This is not a good position for a Pirate. I am right between 1000's. :surfweb: :hourglass Oh well.

I don't know who to pray for more ..... you or United Healthcare!

I'll choose you 'cause I like you.

I hope everything works out.

You made the right choice Brack. :rotfl:

Health Insurance Companies, which I have to deal with all of the time, on a different basis, (is there an icon for, uh, never mind) stink!:rolleyes1 They are THE reason for HIGH Health Care costs. Okay, I better not get started. :rotfl: :scared1: And then there's JCAHO........:scared1: :sad2:

Kristina, sorry that you are going throught the insurance hoop review too. :( I feel like I have been jumping through hoops for the past month now. IMO if an 8 yo starts talking about wanting to kill himself you should be able to get him help ASAP. Nope! :( After lots of phone calls, and listening to music on hold, I finally have an appt set for him on 7/24 with a doctor just down the street from our home. :) The testing he will do will help determine what medication will help him as well as give us the ammunition we need to get him properly placed in school. School starts 8/25 here so that gives them a month to get it done. BTW...still no word from the school board. I will be calling back in the morning to get an answer.

:grouphug:
