Hi everyone. Ernie hadn't really moved since Wednesday, except when we forced him to stand up and go outside. I don't think he was eating either. We decided to take him to the vet this morning. We also decided to bring the kids with us to say goodbye. I told them that the vet was going to send him away so he could feel better (not a lie, right?) but Nick (7 1/2) was a little too smart for that story -- he's really very empathetic -- and started crying when we told him it was time to say goodbye. Which then set me off. I was just fine up until that point. He's still a little sad -- he said "it's hard to say goodbye to an old friend." Ugh. But I think he'll be okay and I felt it was important that we didn't rob the kids of a chance to say goodbye. I think, in a few years, they would have been sad that they didn't get the chance to, otherwise. Sarah doesn't really understand -- she just knows that Ernie was sick and he's gone away. Nick hasn't said the words but I think he knows he's gone. DH and I have made our peace. We went to the gym to workout afterward and I spent a good half hour just sweating it out. I know it was the right thing to do... Ernie had been sleeping on his paws so much the last few days that he was surely going to lose them to gangrene or something. Anyway, thanks for all the well wishes and hugs -- I really appreciate them! I joked to DH that I needed a canine grief counselor, and he said "do you really?" and I said "no, I've got friends on the DIS for that". He said to go ahead and post away!

I'm so sorry! We lost our Lilly last year (as in "lillygator", we still have her pup Gator) but Gator's dad was Ernie (after Earnhardt.....SR)....and he had to be put down this year. He was a Rottie and his hips were so bad he just could not move. He belonged to my mom and stepdad and my stepdad ended up running over his legs as he loved sleeping under his truck. It was an awful awful day. I just wanted you to know my thoughts are with you....and our Ernie was the same age....it hurts...I know. Let me know if you need to talk or anything!

MICKEYPLAN

If anyone would be offended by receiving a Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday card on the cruise, please post so that everyone will know and avoid having this happen. :)
I did not think of this - are we doing xmas cards?

There is no way I'd be able to pull together Christmas/holiday cards for everyone in the next week.... however, if there is an address exchange somewhere, I might be able to mail some out after we get back....

What are people shipping to the port? I was thinking of the things for the school children - what else?? DH is thinking since you can't ship water or clothing whats the point? :confused3
I shipped our wine, the ginger for Aaron and the school supplies. But, I shipped them to the resort, not the ship.

Pj I missed whether you did like the crumpler bag? Does it hold what you expected?

I brought it home a couple of days ago. It holds the camera, extra cards, my mini tri-pod and had lot of room for my ipod and wallet. I love that the strap is a good length to wear it across my body without looking let a trusted turkey.

I don't think I could do this in a week either, with all else I need to do. But would love to do an address exchange for future cards - Christmas or otherwise.

I just got this handed to me:

"
From Adam Rhoad

Dear Santa, could I have speed-stacks and a guitar and toy-guns if you can't then o-well but thanks for the presents.

thank you santa"

guess who will be going to wall mart ONE MORE TIME!!!! I thought I was done and those expensive plastic cups would stay at the stores....with a letter like that....well, I mean o-well....it just melted my heart.

Safeway gave me a card for five free Itunes downloads. DrHug is getting some Bobby Darrin with it. :thumbsup2 And he said he has gotten five and it is telling him he still has one more. Six free, he's happy. :sunny:

Hi Angie .... no fires tonight I hope.

I'm off to make door signs....
have a great evening.

Hi, Karen. No fires. :rotfl: I even scooped the baking soda and grease out and then cleaned the oven today. Now just need to wipe it down. :thumbsup2

Company is all gone, but DD and DSIL are coming over to watch THE game. :cheer2: Starts in 5 min so I think I will be off line for awhile. :wave2:
