I like listening to XM 16. What station is that on now?

104 I think. It is different on DirectTV. It's called SpecialXmas

I should go help DH deal with DD. They are outside now. She really needs a nap but that's not likely to happen today. At least the weather is nice. Maybe she can tire herself out!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

They are all outside spray painting the pack that goes on the top of the car for the extra luggage etc. :rotfl: Right now they are using up the gold paint. Who knows how this is going to look? :confused3 :rotfl2:

I am working on my Christmas cards right now & think that I came up with an idea. I was going to suggest that we make a master list of addresses so that we can exchange cards as well. However, what if we pass out cards in the stockings. We can put our return address labels on the inside of the cards so that they are not visible.
do we know who does not celebrate xmas but does Hanakuh or Kwanzaa? I would like to exchange cards also but wouldn't want to offend anyone.

Somehow I don't get the feeling that anyone would be offended by someone offering them a Happy Holidays. :)

well I started packing and we are going to have some big problems. I don't think everything will fit. I tried to tell DH we should go check on rolling garmet bags but he is not too happy about that. we actually gave away some luggage a couple years ago. he said we should just borrow some from our parents or siblings. most of them never go anywhere so I don't see them having anything we can use. oh well. DD offered to sit on the one bag I got done today in order to get it zipped. it went by itself and only weighs 32lbs. it has all the school supplies in it, lots of pencils & paper. I am going to try to pack the rest of the kids clothes tomorrow. we aren't using much of the light weight stuff right now--except for today which is absolutely beautiful. I kind of hope it will get cold again before we leave.

we have one guy at work who is really picky about this. we can't have a xmas party--it has to be a holiday party or he will not come. we have a diverse group of people at the office who celebrate differently. I am so glad you mentioned this. I would not have even thought about it. I was going to do envelopes for everyone's name tags so I can use the cards for that. :)

That happened to me one year... well actually to DH. I filled out xmas cards for him to take to his coworkers and turned out one of them was Jewish. They had a baby Jesus on the card so he was quite offended. :guilty: Now when I am doing xmas cards and I'm not sure of the persons religion I give them a Happy Holidays card and do not mention Christmas in them. :thumbsup2

Hi everyone. Ernie hadn't really moved since Wednesday, except when we forced him to stand up and go outside. I don't think he was eating either. We decided to take him to the vet this morning. We also decided to bring the kids with us to say goodbye. I told them that the vet was going to send him away so he could feel better (not a lie, right?) but Nick (7 1/2) was a little too smart for that story -- he's really very empathetic -- and started crying when we told him it was time to say goodbye. Which then set me off. I was just fine up until that point. He's still a little sad -- he said "it's hard to say goodbye to an old friend." Ugh. But I think he'll be okay and I felt it was important that we didn't rob the kids of a chance to say goodbye. I think, in a few years, they would have been sad that they didn't get the chance to, otherwise. Sarah doesn't really understand -- she just knows that Ernie was sick and he's gone away. Nick hasn't said the words but I think he knows he's gone. DH and I have made our peace. We went to the gym to workout afterward and I spent a good half hour just sweating it out. I know it was the right thing to do... Ernie had been sleeping on his paws so much the last few days that he was surely going to lose them to gangrene or something. Anyway, thanks for all the well wishes and hugs -- I really appreciate them! I joked to DH that I needed a canine grief counselor, and he said "do you really?" and I said "no, I've got friends on the DIS for that". He said to go ahead and post away!

I was going to ask everyone a favor since the topic has come up.

DMIL - Ken's Mom will be with us on the trip - she is 85. She will be celebrating Hanukkah and since I know there will be an abundance of xmas related things going on - I am sure she would appreciate anyone remembering to wish her a Happy Hanukkah. Hanukkah begins on friday evening, Dec. 15th - the last night of dinner - we have late dining.

You can't miss his mom she is 4'11" - very tiny. and as I said 85. ;) Her name is Martha.

The other thing is that she doesn't see very well so even if she has met you before she will not be able to recognize you unless you are very close. As with most people her age - her hearing is not that great either. Please don't be offended - just introduce yourself again. If you see her and she appears to be lost - she probably is - LOL. Just point her to deck 5.

Other than that she is pretty spry and loves meeting new people, parties, fun, the pool etc.

thanks all.

Hi Joy. Sorry to hear about your "pup". I know what you're going through. We had to put down our four y.o. English Springer last year, two weeks before we left for our cruise. That was tough on all of us.

Here's a pic of our guy.

If anyone would be offended by receiving a Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday card on the cruise, please post so that everyone will know and avoid having this happen. :)
