A few last comments:

The catamaran on CC wasn't what I picured. Looks like it may be a little crowded? I'm not much of a boat rider, so I will have to think this one over.

Christmas present wrapping? I have to buy the gifts first. Heck, I need to buy the cards too. :rolleyes1

The excitement is building so much! The November DD leaves in a few days making ours next in line!! So much to do! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks for all of the PD and good wishes - the situation is related to the current elections.

I work for the state legislature - nonpartisan staff that drafts bills, etc. About a week ago we were told at work not to buy any nonrefundable tickets for the holidays. (And who is just now getting around to buying tickets?) The followup was that all vacation time between now and Jan 7 is conditional. If we go into session after elections - no vacation time.

And after the election returns I know - the punch line today will be - we are going into lame duck session until January 7. So my choice is - give my 2 weeks notice, or cancel the cruise.

(Do I hear "quit quit quit" coming from these boards)

Will keep you posted - thanks for the PD :goodvibes

Well,

It is approaching 1:00, and we still do not have total results, but it appears we have a margin we will not overcome, and our levy will fail. It will be a sad day for our school district, which has done everything right, but I guess the voters are just tired of additional tax.

All field trips will remain cancelled
22-28 MORE teachers will need to be cut
busing will be extremely curtailed
Pay to Participate fees will rise by 50%

AND it will probably be impossible to maintain student achievement with the loss of those teachers.

It is a sad day for our district :sad2:

Ohio needs another solution.

John1, I'm so sorry for you and the people of your district.

Maybe we need to make a trip up there to see it! :thumbsup2

DDs' dance is very into Disney. Most of their songs are Disney. Their two main teachers (sisters) are in WDW this week! And every year they have a Disney trip where they get to dance in WDW. We don't go because I think it is way too much money ($1000 PP), but I hear it is a lot of fun!
That does seem like an aweful lot of money. Our HS band is going in the spring for a week and they each need like $500. Do they do any fundraising to help defer the cost?

Sorry that the election results could affect plans for everyone... but if that sound of "quit quit quit" is coming from Pennsylvania, it might be my voice!

I got Cars and Little Mermaid but they are for Christmas.

My kids are just too old to get that past them. ;) DS saw that it came out before his birthday a while ago. :lmao:

We will be wearing our lime green?

Not after wearing them all day Saturday! LOL! There will be pirate flags along though. pirate:

John, this sucks! And of course they will most likely blame the human faces on the the School Board and forget that it was the people of the district who made the choice. I hope the changes are taken by the citizens with the level of responsibility that they should be.

And maybe more parents who believe in the levy will get involved with campaigning for the next vote, if they each talk to two non-parents I am sure that it would have a much better chance of passing. It has to be parents who share their hopes for their children's education that spread the message of all the good that they levy will do.
I get the feeling that you have done a good information campaign about what the levy could have done for the schools, but more soldiers never hurt a cause.

I hope you weren't disagreeing with me. I think the lesson will be remembered. I also think small kids remember Disney. Jake had just turned 2 before our last trip. He still talks about it!

Not at all. :thumbsup2 On the CB some said that kids don't remember things for very long & it probably wouldn't have an impact.

Could you tell me how many families that is? TIA :goodvibes

It's updated on the manifest. ;) I have no idea and am about to run out the door with the kids.

My son will be thrown out of the kids club... Now after using the bathroom, he comes running out with no underwear, no pants, no socks, no shoes. And he dances and says, "I have pants on!!"

Must be an emperor's new clothes kind of thing.

At least he remembers to wash his hands.

Okay - my boss is away so I can finally play!!

Wooo Hooo

An dthis post made me laugh Marielle!! :goodvibes

you would think she could pay her own way there much cheaper and still participate in the activity. maybe you need to give them some advice on how to do it cheaply. do they have any leftover monies at the end?
