Such a sad story. An 11 year old girl was playing miniature golf and her ball went into a pond. She reached in and yelped, another man went to help her and also was injured. She died.
Ten o'clock news says she might have been electrocuted.
Oh, I just can't imagine how her family can deal having something like this happening at all, especially on a "happy" vacation. Many, many prayers to the family.
An 11-year-old girl died on Wednesday after trying to find her lost golf ball at a putt-putt course at the Orange Lake Resort, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies went to the Kissimmee resort on West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway about 2 p.m.
Deputies said Ashton Jojo, who was in town on vacation with her family from New York, was playing in the putt-putt area inside the resort when her golf ball fell into a small pond.
When Jojo, trying to retrieve her ball, screamed out in distress, another resort guest came to the rescue.
Deputies said Christopher Burges, who was also in the golf area, tried to save Jojo but was hurt in the process and was unsuccessful. Jojo was taken to Celebration Hospital, where she died, deputies said.
The cause of death is still under investigation.
Hotel guests told WESH 2 News that hotel employees told them the girl had been electrocuted. A sheriff's spokesman said that's one possible cause that they're investigating
