11 nights of QSDP w/PIX-I didn't have 1 burger!UPDTD Last day. Breakfast WPE

I love the QSDP but I will agree with everyone else that its not worth the price now that its one less snack credit.... fingers crossed for free dining next year!

I am loving this report, thanks for all the helpful information. We will be on the free qsdp in March. We have always had the regular dining plan, so this is great to see what is available and all the different counter service options.

I am super excited to read about your CS meals! :cool1: We are going this summer for 22 days with the QS plan and I was thinking I would be hamburger/fries out by the end of the trip. So I can't wait to see what you had!

We like QS meals, but we wouldn't pay for the plan now that a snack credit has been removed for next year- it was basically break even now. Let's hope that they offer free dining for a long time to come:)

Do you mean the QS will have no snack credits now? I know it went from two to one but I thought that already happend???

I'm pretty sure she means going from 2 to 1. It's changing to 1 SC in 2012. I agree, not worth it if you are paying for it but free, oh yeah!

Thanks. And while I like a good burger it's nice to have more options. Having our own car makes getting better CS so much easier. DTD and the other resorts has better food than most of the park CS choices. But you can take the bus to DTD. Getting to other resorts is trickier.

I agree, if you are paying for it not that great a deal with only 1 SC starting in 2012.

My fingers are crossed as well! And it makes it so much harder to type!;)

So enjoying your posts

Hi, just wanted to say a big thanks for your brill posts - I too love food and it's a very important part of my holiday, esp at WDW. We haven't done the DDP before but have it for Nov 2012 (can't wait, we go specifically for the Epcot F&WF ).

Can I just ask, from some of your photos of menus, there seems to be a symbol at the right end of the food choices - is that the DDP symbol? If so, for example, can you not choose the hot dog or jumbo turkey leg on the DDP at Surf Doggies? Would the other things on the menu (ie. Nachos) be classed as a SC or CS meal? I can't get my head round what is CS and SC Any links etc you can point me to on DIS re. this subject very gratefully received

Keep up the good postings

Thanks! It is the DDP logo but some of the confusion is that some smaller places that, for example, just sold turkey legs, has put the logo on to indicate that it's available as a CS meal. With chips and a drink. I saw the same confusion on the Boardwalk Pizza To-Go menu. It had the symbol next to all the pizza sizes, from single slice to Large pizza.

check out my 2011 Confirmed snacks thread (link in siggy below) for what has been confirmed as a snack. No turkey legs, sorry.

This looks like an interesting review. We've always done the DDP, & was thinking did the CS plan have very many good choices.
Welcome aboard. Hope I can help you decide.

Wow, your brunch at Tilly's snack shack was excellent value on the qsdp!

I'll definitely write that one down on my list, we're hoping to eat fairly healthily next year and a big bowl of fruit and a smoothie sounds good, I wonder if they'd let you have the smoothie as dessert and then a bottled drink as your drink...

I also can't wait to find out if CSR will let us have 3 snack items as a continental combo as that way mum and i could share a credit for breakfast and then another for lunch and then each have one for dinner....

I know! It was a great value. Kind of makes up for the CS we used for 3 pastries for about $8. I would think CSR will let you do it. I think all/most of the resorts due. Why not, it saves them money, right?;)

Probably could get the smoothie as a dessert. Don't see why not. I've always found the CMs at Tilly's Snack Shack very pleasant. Maybe because when we go there's hardly any guest there.

I will have another update soon. Getting ready to pick up DD12 from school and go with DSis and her DS2.9 to DLR for awhile to check out the holiday stuff. :santa:

Do you think it would be better/cheaper to pay out of pocket then to get the QS plan? Just trying to decided on what I want to do. :confused3

I think it all depends on your family's eating habits. For example, with the DDP you get a dessert with every meal (except breakfast) whereas if you were paying for it you probably wouldn't get the dessert most of the times. You might usually get a glass of free ice water with your meal instead of sodas.

If we had paid for the QSDP this year we would have paid $105 (my DM72, me, and my DD12).-Total $1155! That got us 2 meals a day and 2 snacks. Could we have eaten during our trip for less than $105/day average? I think so. But then we have a car and going offsite to eat is easy and picking up items at Super Target or WM is also easy. If you only rely on Disney Transport it means you will be eating all your meals at Disney.

Now that 2012 QSDP only inc. 1 snack per day I think that makes it much less attractive (if you have to pay for it!)

What you might want to do is think of a couple typical days for your family. Figure out where you might eat and what you might order. Inc. some parks and some resort meals and snacks. See what the total comes to for your family. Then multiply that out for your days there. See what that totals and if it's more than the QSDP would be.

If you can't get to a market you can always pack some snacks to bring along. We have done this in the past.

If you decide not to buy a DDP but you like the ease of not having to pay cash for your food, you obviously can charge (most) items to your KTTW card or you could buy a Disney Gift Card and put how much you think you will spend on food on it and use that.

If I had to pay for a DDP, I wouldn't get it. But that's me. We paid for it the first time we used it-Jan. 05 and have gotten it free since then. :cloud9: Your family may decide it's a better option for you. When we aren't on a DDP we eat pretty frugally. We don't get desserts at CS. If we want a sweet we may splurge later in the day on something like a sundae!;)

HTH.

Hello! I am enjoying your report even though we likely won't be doing the plan I like to see what better quality quick serve stuff is as that is the way we usually eat.
Thanks for taking the time and all the great details!
Tracey

I am definitely getting the cherry turnover for my breakfast at POP. The pics sealed it for me. We'll be paying OOP as we don't get on the DDP until we check in at POFQ after breakfast. Thanks for your reviews and food pics!

Day 4 cont....
Dinner
CAPT. COOKS, Polynesian

Well since tonight was a MNSSHP we decided to go to the Poly to eat and then watch the Grim Grinning Ghost Spooktacular from the beach. :goodvibes

wdw2011008-1.jpg

We arrived at Capt. Cooks (Poly’s Food Court) about 8:45. Like CC you order your food at a kiosk. Unlike CC there is a menu with prices above the kitchen. We decided to get the new Pork Nachos and Mahi Mahi. Since DD’s throat was bothering her she just wanted to get some soup. :sick:The Mahi Mahi was Fish of the day ($10.69) and came with white rice and vegetables. The Pork Nachos were $7.59. We also got an OJ and An Honest Ade Pomegranite Juice.

wdw2011013.jpg

wdw2011014.jpg

wdw2011016.jpg

At Capt. Cooks you can get a Dole Whip as your dessert and it’s serve yourself! :cloud9:You get the cup from the cashier and then you can fill it up as high as you want, after you finish your dinner. I was all set to order 2 Dole Whips and use a SC for DD’s Chicken Noodle Soup ($3.49) when the cashier said we could get the soup as a dessert. She said she wasn’t supposed to do it, but she would. Okay with me. After you pay they give you a pager and you wait for your food.

wdw2011015.jpg

Dole Whip Machine

We got a table outside and it wasn’t too long before our pager went off. I went and collected the food and we started our dinner. DD took a spoonful of her soup and said it was spicy. Spicy, really, it’s chicken noodle soup? So I took a taste and WOW it was super-spicy! You could really taste ( and see) the pepper in it. Reminded me of Hot and Sour soup, without the sour. Since the soup was all she wanted for dinner I had to take it back and exchange it. DD decided she would have a Dole Whip. She said she really wasn’t that hungry anyway. I took it back and told the cashier (the same nice one who gave it to me for a dessert) that it was too spicy to eat. No problem-she gave me a cup for the Dole Whip.

Our dinners

wdw2011018.jpg

Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup with crackers.

My DM and I started eating and decided the Mahi Mahi was okay but definitely not as good as the Mahi at CC. Smaller piece of fish and not as much flavor. The rice was just plain white rice, though there was a lot of it. DD enjoyed some of the rice. The veggies were carrots, pea pods, onions, etc. There were tasty-cooked just right, not too mushy, nice and crisp. The relish on the fish was nice as well. But overall the meal was just a little bland. Maybe if they had done something with the rice? 3.5 out of 5

wdw2011019.jpg

See? That's a lot of rice, right?

The Pork Nachos (which is a fairly recent addition on Cook’s menus) was actually very good. They look kind of strange in the photo but there were very tasty! It was pork, cheese, onions, tomatoes, and mango. Served over homestlye potato chips. I thoroughly enjoyed these. 4.5 of out 5. A nice surprise. Probably would have given them a 5 if they had enough salt on the chips.

wdw2011020.jpg

After we finished it was time to watch the fireworks from the beach so I grabbed DM’s and my Dole Whip and we went to the beach. DD didn’t eat all of her Dole Whip-I should have realized she wasn’t feeling well. Her sore throat turned into a cold that made her pretty tired for the rest of the trip. :sad2: And I got it about 3 days before we left for home.:sick:

wdw2011022.jpg

We’ve eaten at Cpt C’s a few times now and we have come to the conclusion that it’s one of the CS locations that we would be fine skipping. :confused3 Nothing has really impressed us much with the exception of the nachos. I would eat those again, and of course the self-serve Dole Whip is almost worth the trip alone. The outside seating area is pretty dark. They could use a little more light out there so you could actually see what you are eating. I think we’ll have to relegate Capt C’s to snack choice only. Sorry Capt!

The Fireworks were great from the beach. :wizard: DD enjoyed playing in the sand while waiting.

CS used 2, 48 left. $32.00

Today’s totals. 3 SC used, $12.75/3 = $4.25. 7 CS used $110/7 = $15.71 each credit (those darned cont. combos are bringing my totals down!)
Total for today $122.60

Totals to date:
18 CS used, $295/18 = $16.50 each
22 SC used, 103/22 = $4.68 each
Grand total not spent $400
Total not spent for 4 days $400/3 of us equals $133/4 days =$33 per person/per day.

NEXT UP! Earl of Sandwich

Great updates! Do you happen to have a picture of the doughnuts by any chance? I wanted to try them on our upcoming trip if we go to the water park.

great reviews...thanks for taking the time to do this..

When we go to TL we always get those dang donuts...I could eat dozen by myself they are so good......almost like what my nana made when I was a kid..

We are going to POP in the spring and hope that you can provide some info on their menus...I know the last year we went there they had the slushy machine and apple juice...now that is gone too.......
Thanks for your reviews again

I never realized the Poly had a food court ... talk about oblivious. :rotfl:
Where is it located?

Those pork nachos look so good! I still need to try dole whip one of these days.

As you walk in Poly there's a store to your left. Just past the store is a hallway leading to Cpt. Cooks. It makes a turn to the right and then you walk straight into Cpt. Cooks. You can also get there from outside. As you exit Poly heading towards the pool and beach you'll see it right in the corner on your left.

I was born, raised, and have lived within 30 minutes of Disneyland all my life. They have the Dole Whips too. I was well over 40 before I finally tried one. So don't feel too bad. ;) They are pretty tasty and I do prefer the Dole Whip alone, without the pineapple juice (Dole Whip Float). The juice isn't cold (at least at DLR) so the whip melts pretty quickly, especially on warm/hot days.

Yeah the donuts are pretty good. It was the only food item we paid OOP for this trip.

The slushie and apple juice are still gone from POP. I will have at least one dinner meal review from POP coming up as well as POFQ.

Let me look. I think I have one showing the donuts in the booth....

Here it is-not a great shot. Sorry. It's from Blizzard Beach but they are the same at both.

wdw2011303.jpg

Here's a photo from years back (2005 I think) of DD enjoying them. They serve them in a bag.

Also, my mom and I are determined to have a dole whip too, hehe. :goodvibes

Just saw your report! Great food pics! I like the Beef Keftas at Morocco and never tried them. Are they really a snack credit? I notice $5. Is that $5 each?

Can't wait to see more!
