11 nights of QSDP w/PIX-I didn't have 1 burger!UPDTD Last day. Breakfast WPE

Oh....interesting...:thumbsup2. We are not big breakfast eaters and if we can do that then we can get a few things to eat on the go!! Is this in every QS place? We are staying at CBR...

I believe it does vary. What I did was ask one of the cashiers at POP on our first day. Then the day we used 1 CS to get 3 sundaes (2 SC) I asked again before we ordered. I was again told yes. ;)

I would ask a cashier at CBR before you pick out your options. If you are told yes, return to that same cashier, just in case ;) Oh, and BTW, at POP the Continental Combo even had it's own key on the register.

I agree with you on this one...we usually waste a SC on a frozen sweet drink...where will they give you free water? and do you need to provide a cup/water bottle?

You can get free water at pretty much every location. I haven't found one yet that won't give it to you. This is at both WDW and Disneyland. Some locations (at least at DLR) will even give you free hot water. You don't need to provide your own cup, they will give it to you as well. I don't think (for health reasons) they would fill your water bottle. Sanitary? When we get water and have our own bottles we just pour it in ourselves.

Loving your reviews and pictures! We've always paid for the Regular Dining Plan, but got a offer for Free QS this Oct 2012 for 9 nights. I'm enjoying seeing that there are a lot more options than just hamburgers! The food looks delicious!

I'm really enjoying your report! We were there on October 8th and you are NOT kidding about the rain - holy cow I've never experienced rain like that at Disney!

We are going in April with the basic dining plan and I'm getting lots of good ideas from your reviews. Thank you!:goodvibes

Great dining report! We are planning our upcoming trip- it will be our first time trying the QSDP, as we usually book the regular DP.
I was already looking forward to the freedom & flexibility of it, but now I'm looking forward to it even more.. there is a lot more variety than I realized!

Great now I'm HUNGRY!!! :lmao:
I'm going for solo trip in May and there were many of the places on my wish list. Kinda gives me an idea of what I might like and the menus give you a estimate of cost.
Oh great pictures to.

Love how you included pricing with your dinig review. Great pics, wonderful descriptions. Now I am hungry!

Finally another update-sorry for the delay!

Day 7
Friday, Oct. 14th

Finally going to MK today!

EVERYTHING POP!

Breakfast
We used two CS for 2 Continental Combos for breakfast. 2 croissants, 2 turnovers, bowl of grapes, & yogurt parfait. The food court wasn’t too busy but then it was about 9:20 a.m. The pastries were as good as before. The yogurt was also very tasty. A nice amount of fruit and granola on it.

Close up of a turnover.

Today we were going to MK. Not too early-we got there just before 10:30. By 11:30 we were feeling a little peckish and decided to have lunch. Since we were in Liberty Square we picked Columbia Harbor House.

COLUMBIA HARBOR HOUSE
Lunch
We haven’t eaten at CHH for quite a few years. Most of the time when we are at MK we will eat at Cosmic Rays. But I’ve been wanting to go back to CHH and they have some new items I wanted to try so this was a good time to return.

wdw2011143.jpg

wdw2011139.jpg

As we approached CHH a CM gave us a laminated handout with the menu on it-he was trying to get guest to come in. I think he was the Town Crier. We took a seat in the lobby and looked the menu over. At this point it wasn’t too busy. My DM opted for the Grilled Salmon served with couscous and steamed broccoli ($10.19) DD and I both opted for the Fried Shrimp served with fries. All 3 of us got the Apple Crisp ($3.59) (based on reviews I had read) and 3 large sodas. ($2.89).

My DD and I got in line to order while my DM went to find a restroom. After we got our food (which took just a few minutes)we went upstairs to find a table in the room that overlooks Liberty Square. The area upstairs is huge-there are a lot of seats. We got a seat in the bridge room (my name for it.). We had a ton of food! The salmon was very good. Surprisingly so for a CS. It was cooked just right (not roo overdone) with a nice amount of char on it.;)

The couscous was also very good. It had a nice flavor to it and little pieces of veggies (peppers) to add to the flavor. The steamed broccoli was good as well. Again, it had a good flavor to it-it wasn’t just steamed in water. Also it wasn’t overcooked-a pet peeve of mine.:scared1: The only negative about the couscous and broccoli were by the time we were seated they were barely warm. Almost cold. But still tasty. Maybe they should have some kind of cover to keep it warm? Even the salmon could have been hotter. By the time you get your condiments, utensils, etc. food just isn’t hot anymore. And I can imagine when it’s more crowded it’s even worse.

The fried shrimp was good. Your basic frozen fried shrimp but still tasty. I didn’t count them but there were a lot. And tons of fries. Shoestring ones. Again, the fries weren’t very hot. The shrimp came with coleslaw, which I liked. Looking back I wonder if we could have substituted one of our fries sides for broccoli or couscous?

The apple crisps were very good. Warm and the apples had a good flavor and there were a good amount of them. I enjoyed the crust as well. Only thing missing was a little ice cream (like the ones they serve at POP!)

We had way too much food to eat! We should have split 2 meals. We couldn’t finish our meals. We left a lot on the plates.

CHH is a good place to eat. Some interesting choices to choose from and lots of seating. FYI the couscous and steamed broccoli are available as a SC too.

Notice DD is done with her meal (she's starting on the apple crisp) and there is a lot of food left on her plate. This was taken in the "bridge room"

STORYBOOK TREATS

Snack time
Fantasyland
About 3 p.m. DD was feeling a little hungry so we grabbed a quick snack for her at Storybook Treats in FL. DD got a Rootbeer Float and declared it good. This is one of my favorite aspects of using a DDP. If DD wants to get something I can easily say YES!

wdw2011177.jpg

Happy girl with her Rootbeer Float. Ohh-see Beast's Castle behind her?

wdw2011176.jpg

1 SC used 31 left $4.50

MAIN ST. CONFECTIONARY
Snacks for later

After DD got her hair prettied up at the MK barbershop (colored hair gel and confetti) we crossed the street over to The Main St. Confectionary to pick up a few snack items. We got a piece of fudge and English Toffee. I have learned the hard way not to try to use up all our extra SC on the last day! Yikes! (Not so much an issue in 2012 now that you only get 1 SC per day)

DD enjoyed the fudge and the English Toffee was pretty good. Though I will be honest and say my homemade toffee is better-more buttery tasting. You do get a pretty large piece for $3.95.

2 SC used, 29 left $8.42

Some of the items in case. Many are available for a SC.

We got one of these PB cups a few days later (it's still in our fridge) but I do think they are one of the many overpriced candy items they sell for $3.95. I wonder how many they sell that are paid for OOP?

DD12 got her hair done at Barbershop!

EVERYTHING POP
Snack

After we left MK, and before we went back to MK for dinner, we got 3 ice cream sundaes at EVERYTHING POP. This was about 5 p.m. and the place was pretty empty. I was able to use 1 SC for all three. Any 3 snack/dessert items counts a Continental Combo. I did confirm this with the cashier at the Bakery/Ice cream register prior to ordering. My DD got a 2 scoop sundae, my DM got a single scoop, and I got a 3 scoop. I love ice cream! There was a problem when the cashier tried to ring it up. The CM I spoke to was watching what I assumed was a new cashier try to ring it up. For some reason she just couldn’t get the concept of 3 sundaes being a Continental Combo. Then the original CM I spoke to tried to do it and it wouldn’t work. The manager came over and rang it up lickety split! Told the first one you had to press the Continental Combo button.

We took our sundaes back to our room on a tray. As we were walking to our room we passed by a mom and young daughter leaving their room who asked “Where did you get those?” Told her they were available in the food court and you could use a SC for one, or a CS for 3. She was very happy to hear this and told her DD they were definitely getting those this trip! I love spreading info around!

Our 3 sundaes- a little melty from the walk to the room but still delicious! Two of them are partially eaten (I almost forgot to snap a photo!)

1 CS used, $13

PECOS BILLS
Dinner-late

We went back to MK to see the night’s entertainment and have dinner. We opted for Pecos Bills in Frontierland. We got there about quarter after 9. DD wanted a cheeseburger (oh, no-a cheeseburger. Okay, technically it is a hamburger, but it is an ANGUS BURGER-I’m not changing the title-After all I didn’t have eat a hamburger!) My DM and I decided to get the Taco Salad-shared it of course. We got the ever popular Chocolate Cake and a Carrot Cake for our desserts. 2 lg. sodas. Oh, and we used a snack credit for an order of onion rings. If you use SC and CS at the same time they will ring them up separately.

I love the condiments bar at PB. When you get the taco salad you basically get a large flour tortilla bowl with ground meat in it. You also get a small squeeze tube of sour cream. I suppose you can ask for more if you like a lot of sour cream. We were fine with one.

Since it was pretty late PB wasn’t crowded at all. We went to the condiment bar and piled on the toppings. Cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, and grilled onions. I piled it pretty high. We really enjoyed the salad. It was very filling. I even went back to add more once we had eaten some of the toppings. The meat was tasty (for basic ground beef) and we enjoyed eating the shell as well. Not too greasy.

The onion rings were so good! A great use of a SC and very tasty. You got a nice sized serving and they were very crunchy. Just the way I like them.

Loving these reviews. It's great to see all the different options for using CS credits and snacks.

Welcome and you're welcome. Now that we are waiting for a new fridge maybe it'll give me time to finish this report and start on my actual TR. :confused3

Those onion rings look so good! Were they are good as they looked?

Yes they were. I really liked them (so much better than ones I had a Hungry Bear in Disneyland-I (gulped) actually returned those for a refund. These were nice and crispy and well done. We returned a few days later and got them again.

I know many people are concerned about getting a good value for the credits plus I hope there are those reading who may be paying OOP as well.

I really liked the flexibility too. And as I think I may have already mentioned, my DM really liked it! :goodvibes She really didn't like us having to schedule things around our ADRs. However, there are a few TS that I do miss. Raglan Road, Kona, and WPC just to name a few. I know we could go and pay OOP but with the QSDP we have enough meals so it would really be a waste of money.

I KNOW-I couldn't believe the amount of rain. And we have been going during the same time period for many years now. My DSis' inlaws (BIL and SIL) arrived at WDW that day and they were both in tears and she was border-line hysterical over the deluge. They figured they had made the worst vacation decision of their lives when the picked WDW in Oct. (It got better for them but they really aren't WDW people )

Great reviews! I think we'll be trying Contempo Cafe in October!

Thank you and do try it. We enjoyed both our dinners there. The breakfast was just okay but then that's the case with most resort CS breakfasts. Even my DSis' inlaws enjoyed their meal there (They actually took one of my recommendations! :wizard:)

We went that exact same time-frame in 2010 and the weather was just perfection - we didn't see a drop of rain the five days we were there! Inspite of the crazy rain last year, I still think October is an awesome time to go!

A little late (I've been pretty bad lately w/ catching up on the dining reviews, sorry!) but the tuna & noodles w/ veggies looked incredible- I believe from sunshine seasons? I remember eating there a long time ago, and it being very good. The desserts from Main St. Bakery look incredible too, and the Minnie candied apple is so cute! The Taco salads look pretty good from Pecos Bill (esp. w/ all the toppings) and the onion rings- talk about yum! I'm getting some great ideas to eat for CS b/c of your report. Thanks so much! :goodvibes

I'm late to the party, but loving your review! We've got free quick service for the end of April and I've never done it before, so you're giving me lots of great ideas! Thank you so much! :goodvibes
