Here is my other baby, Minnie looking at mommy's toy. we are going to build a safe box on the back for the babies to ride along with me when we go riding. I dont do the rugged trails so it will work.

Great pics, Kathy!!

Off to shape young minds at DD's school!! (I'm not sure that's a good thing!!:rotfl2: )

Slow down is an understatement!!
it is DEAD!!! Lots of layofffs everywhere and some businesses will be going under.
Way too many houses just sitting out there for sale so no need for new ones to be built. His company has had 2 big layoffs in the past 4 months, that was the first time they have ever had a layoff.

Thousands of people across the state did those adjustable interest loans a few years ago and now their payments are so high they can afford the houses . That is also flooding the market, 1000's of them going through foreclosure so people can get them really cheap. so again, no need to have a new house built to buy.
If your looking to buy you can get Awesome deals right now.
Some builders are giving perks like a free swimming pool or 2 new cars, all upgraded appliances, carpets, lightening etc...
Last weekend was an auction where houses that were for sale for 400,000 sold for less than 200,000.

It is about as bad as it can get here. way too many people out of work!!

Kathy

It's really bad in here too. I think Las Vegas is the worst in the US for home sales right now. Although I do have to say that the builders do deserve some of what they are getting...at least here they do. Four years ago when we were looking to buy a new house it was unbelievable what we had to go though. First we found a house and a price that we could afford, when we went to make an offer they told us we couldn't buy a house we had to go on a waiting list. Every month they would have 5 houses available and the top five people on the list had a choice to purchase these houses. We were number 120 so even though we knew we wouldn't get a house we still had to be there the 1st Saturday of every month at 6:30am to keep our name on the list...and oh yeah, the price increased between 5 and 10 Thousand dollars every month and don't forget the lot premium :scared: it was the most awful experience. We decided we were not going to play their game and got a used house...which we love  So I am sorry to say but these builders took so much advantage of us four years ago and now it's time for payback.

Christine,
I work for the HBA and I think buying a used house is such a better deal! Well at least normally. Now you could really get a buy if you have the financing and don't have to SELL yours. Because nothing is selling now.

LV has had one of the craziest home markets for years! I'm sure it was one of the first places to feel the crunch.

The slow down just started to really hit here in the last 6 months. Now they're starting to sweat!

Great website Jeff!! It's weird how we're all sort of in connected industries.

Here's DH's for anyone who's interested...

Ditto your website. If I ever need a photographer in the heartland, I'll know who to call. And believe it or not over my long career, I have had the need in places far and wide so you never know.

You're right... he's been taking aeriel shots weekly since last spring for a commercial construction company (from somewhere on the east coast, it's his deal so I only half pay attention...) that is building the new "Google" plant here. That's been a nice gig for him. So you never know who's gonna come knockin'.

We appreciate you keeping us in mind!

Wow, compared to yesterday ...??? This place is like a library! Where are you chatterboxes? Did we make our post quota for the day???

The weekend is almost here, just a couple more hours and most will be going home for a couple days of rest.:thumbsup2

I am trying to decide on what to fix for dinner tonight?
I feel lazy today so it wont be fancy at all. Soup and sandwiches comes to mind or fish sticks?

What are the rest of you having for dinner tonight?

Kathy

Bought some just-flown in tuna steaks in the warehouse district after a meeting this afternoon and they will be grilled tonight!

still haven't booked my airfare for our January trip as I am hoping the price will come down a bit. I''ll probably lose this gamble...but maybe by the end of the weekend I'll break down and book. Going to the Steelers-Seahawks game on Sunday. As I've mentioned before, I'm not that big of a fan but am getting together with a friend whom I haven't seen for a while so that part will be fun. I'm ready for basketball season.

You're right, buying (building) a brand new home isn't everything it's cracked up to be!! We built a new house in 2002 or 2003 (I can't even remember.) Along with some weird zoning deals (we bought a small parcel of land from my parents), you have to do all your own landscaping and interior decor (though I know some used homes have major issues there!) -- so many things that have to start from scratch! :sad2: :sad2:
