In typical HBO form, it's rather explicit!
to say the least, it almost borders on, ummmmm, well not that I've actually seen any.....okay never mind. The amazing thing is, it actually does have a story line and it says that *** is an issue. Whether you're having it, not having it or having it for all the wrong reasons.

Okay, I know I'm a little twisted. I'm the kind of person that can't stop myself from laughing when someone falls even though I know it's not funny..........anyhoo, there's a carpet warehouse right across the parking lot from my office and after years of hard work I get the office view of their loading dock:lmao: so anyway, this contractor pulls up and they're unrolling the carpet so they can cut it and starts to POUR!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

I've never seen three men move so fast in my life.........but it was like watching Laurel and Hardy because there they are trying to get it in the gargae, and it's folding in half and twisting..........oh man, the tears are rolling

You're kinda evil... but I'd probably be laughing too.

You're lucky... I don't have a window... I just have 2 doors. Sometimes people treat my office like a hallway because of it...

Man... I can't believe I haven't even noticed it's on. What's going on with me? Don't I know the importance of TV:happytv:

This truly makes me crazy and is one of my pet peeves. If you as a parent think that your child can handle that amount of time away from school and you are willing to make up the work, then who the hell has the right to tell you otherwise or make you feel guilty? We are lucky that our school has been very good about this. We turn in the form, they sign it, we ask the teacher how she wants to handle homework, makeup assignments - tell her whatever is easiest for her...she gives us the work, we do it. Elizabeth comes home with all A's. End of story.

By the time she hits high school we may have a different opinion (and so may she) but until then we're vacationing when it works for us as a family. Tomorrow isn't promised to any of us. I lost my mom when she was 50 years old so I learned early on to live for today because tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

Ok. Off my soapbox now. Hope everyone is having a great day. I am!

I hear ya! I've been quite amazed when I read the threads about how various schools react to planned absences.  Sure glad our school isn't like some of those.:scared1:

As someone who was on the other side of this issue (H.S. English) for several years, it didn't phase me a bit to have students miss class due to vacation! I'd give the students their homework (usually they already had the syllabus from that unit) and make adjustments accordingly (pop quizzes weren't figured into their overall point total).

It just shows that some people are always going to be willing to be accommodating while others will always make it a point to be difficult.:sad2:

Thanks for letting me share your soapbox Jeff!

Did you see the first episode??? :scared1: Bill & I both looked at each other because we couldn't believe how much they actually showed!!:rotfl2:

After complaining about the 11 days the princpal and then after reading my letter she did say it sounds like a wonderful opportunity....

I was susprise last night because at our meeting we were told that we are not allowed to take our child out of school without a valid reason...and that the reason has to be agreed to by the princpal...they told us the it was actually against the law:confused3...every child has a right to a education.

Anyway all is well...it's been approved...I have to meet with her teacher a week before we go to go over her homework.

You know... along the same lines. We deal with this type of attutide with our daycare provider. It is very frustrating that you are paying this place all this money and then they treat you like they do. But unfortunately they sort of have us over a barrel, because there are not a lot of good places so close to our home.

DH was just really frustrated with them yesterday, because Alex hasn't been eating his lunches and they hadn't even bothered to tell us. We only find out if we ask.

I LOVE WDW at Christmas. We are going to try and squeeze in as much as we can the two days before the cruise at the parks. Then Saturday when we get back, we're going Hotel Hopping. I love it. The Christmas Party is a blast. The parade is one of the few I bother to watch anymore. It seems like forever since they've had new parades.

Is there anything we should not miss during the Christmas season? Is it worth trying to go to the taping of the Christmas parade if it is happening while we are there?

Maybe I should elaborate...because re-reading that it sounds like it doesn't make sense... obviously they don't care if we take our child out of daycare for vacation... but I guess what I mean is the lack of respect that they treat you with as parents.

My dad took us out of school every year for family trips to Michigan in November. He would go in every year and explain to the principal the importance of maintaining family relationships and what a learning experience these trips to stay in our cabin in the forest were. We would bring home things like old beehives and such for show and tell to the class afterwards. Also we always had homework to do during the week.

I think the 'law' they refer to is the 'no child left behind' legislation. The schools get money from the government if they can keep absentee rates low. In our school it is 5 days. I even know one parent who was told if her son had any additional days out (other than being sick), they would have to pay a fine! Not sure if that was a scare tactic or really true, but outrageous either way.
I should be good this year, I am only taking DS out for 4 days, but I will still get the lecture:sad2:

If this guy doesn't do anything for you..............

Please tell me who does:confused3

Jaime-I really enjoyed having our picture taken at the MK. I don't know if they still do this or not, but it was included in the price of out ticket when we did it. Also, be sure to have cocoa and cookies. They have stations throughout the MK at the party. Don't miss Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian. I also really enjoy the Osbourne lights at MGM. If the girls are old enough for putt putt they have a putt putt course that is SOOOOOOO cute. I can't remember the name....but it's all centered around Santa and it's really fun. I haven't done it, but I hear the "sleigh rides" at the Wilderness Lodge are fun, but you have to book early..........

Well, except that Jaime is Canadian, so the laws are probably different. You know, just like their bacon is different. :rotfl2:

OH NO YOU DI N'T! YOU DID NOT JUST DIS MY MAN! The most beautiful man to ever walk the earth!

Yeah, they don't care if their children get left behind as long as they play hockey...............
