11/22/08 Thanksgiving 2008 cruise thread. Double Dipping Travelling Turkeys!

Michelle had in her post that she thought they were counting Sunday as the "1st sea day" so the character breakfasts would be on Sun, Mon, and Thurs.

I believe that the breakfast is back to its original form, the characters going to each table. The "Island Jam" breakfast was pretty much a mosh pit and little kids were almost getting trampled by the bigger kids. The most recent posts have said its back to the original way. I see if I can link a thread or two.

My child was one of those little kids and I can say not only was she never trampled, but each time we traveled I felt they gave special attention to the "little people" and getting them involved.

Here's what was in the thread that I linked above:

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for booking another Disney Cruise Line Vacation!

I would be happy to provide information regarding the Character
Breakfast offered on the ship.

Yes, the Character Breakfast is now back to being a traditional table
meet & greet experience versus dancing and playing activities with the
characters. This change allows Mickey & the Gang to once again go around
the dining room, sign autographs, and take pictures with Guests. Have
Kaitlyn get her towel ready!

I hope this information has been helpful for making plans for your
upcoming Panama Canal cruise. If you require further assistance in
planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you in August! Have a Magical Day!

The time we had the Island Jam breakfast the parents behaved worse than the children. There was more than one literally pushing kids out of the way so that their kids could get closer to the characters. It was not pretty.

I'm glad that your DD had a good experience with it, but I'm with Chuck, I'd rather they get a quick hug and pic with everyone.

I am still confused (not hard to do), How do I tell which rotation is tied to which character breakfast?

It's usually if your dining rotation starts in Animator's then your character breakfast is on Sunday, if you start in Lumiere's it's on Monday, and Parrot Cay has their's on Thursday.

That one will require a response from Michelle who is checking into the current state of character breakfasts, but I would not be too concerned b/c though not mentioned, if you have a legitimate conflict< Disney will generally let you change the breakfast date...as to dinner rotation, it usually depends on whether your party has small children or older children...though i forget which base restaurant is for which party type in general. of course if you link with others in advance, you can often get your choice of rotation especially if the link is for late seating.

Now its getting clearer, do you know what the current rotations are?:confused3

From Michelle:

This is the one I know for sure
8:15pm seating will be as follows APPLAPL with character breakfast for that rotation is on the 3rd Sea Day at 9:45am (My note is that Sunday is Considered Sea Day 1)

The others are PLLAPLA and LAAPLAP but I do not know which is 8 and which is 8:30 for sure.

Okay I got confirmation that they are doing the Western with the dinner in the same restaurant twice.

Michelle posted this earlier today. The September DD rotations were different though. They had APPLAPL, PLLAPLA and LAAPLAP. Traditionally those with all adults start in Lumiere's. Those with young kids start Animator's, and older kids in Parrot Cay. We've always started in Parrot Cay, even when DS was 4months, and 1yo.

We have usually started in AP, w/Mason starting at age 5, but after the first year, that was primarily b/c we requested that rotation b/c it used to be APLAPLA which meant formal nights in Lumiere's.

However, if you are booking as a group, what really counts are the people and hopefully a good server since you will be in each restaurant at least two nights, though we highly recommend Palo as well.

I would like to end up in Lumiers for Thanksgiving dinner. The character breakfast is a must with two 7 year olds, but we cant do it on Monday since we have a Palo's brunch the same day.

Ken -
You changed your post, I like it. Especially the new photo of Kiah!
My head is spinning from this rotation talk! I think I'll just go with the flow and be surprised. Chuck's right - it's the company you keep that makes it special.
And the food, lets not forget the food!! That makes it pretty special too. Here's my motto:When in doubt, order 2. Never, ever leave the table without eating at least one dessert and a Mickey Bar.:mickeybar

Here's a great question.... If creme brulee is not on the menu that night, can you ask for it and they'll bring it from another restaurant? What if I ask for a half gallon of it?:lmao: :goofy: That's kinda greedy isn't it?

AHHH, creme brulee . . . . . Great choice! My favorite is the Chocolate soufflé with vanilla sauce. Its to die for.

Hi everyone,
alot has happened here since my last post. I love the question of the day idea. Samoas coconut rum AND the mouse? You are truly my kind of folks. :yay:

Anyone have a pet (pets) spending thanksgiving in the kennel? :dog: We have a French Bull Dog (Louie) who will be going to the kennel for the first time. The way DH is acting, you'd think we were selling him for vivisection. I keep telling DH that as long as someone plays with Louie (and who could resist?) he won't give us a second thought. Judy is boarding Lex there too. We have a sassy little Cockatiel named Larry who gets boarded a a bird store, but he's an old pro at it.

If I may ask a question for today, what is your favorite Halloween candy? If I had to choose just one, I guess it would have to be Mallow Cups.

Yes, you can order creme brulee even if it's not on the menu. Just let your waiter know any special requests that you have the first night. In March we were able to have escargot and shrimp as appetizers every night!! :thumbsup2

We have a Sheltie we have to board that week. Usually he can stay at my moms but my sis is due to deliver that week so Mom is going to spend the week there. Poor Toby!

Our neighbors will (hopefully) watch our cats. That's why I like cats. Throw out a few bowls of food and water and some clean litter boxes and you're good to travel. We just have someone come check on them every few days so they don't poop on my couch out of anger.

My favorite halloween candy... hard question. I love tootsie rolls and just about anything else chocolate. That's usually the only time I get Almond Joys, which are so yummy. We're going to MNSSHP next week, so I'll be overdosing on good halloween candy. Disney does everything right.

Judy, guess that shows you how much attn I pay to Sponge Bob!! When it's on, all my kids (that includes DH) are glued to the TV, completely entertained. I just keep on walking! Bikini Town sounds like Hooters!

And I'll share the gallon of creme brulee with you... that way neither of us look greedy.

Stacie, we stopped for gas on the way out of town and thought we were doing well by paying $3.39.

Halloween candy.... I'll take anything chocolate... almond joy, mallow cups, 1000 Grand, Baby Ruth. I just don't want anything with peanut butter.

It's pretty chilly up here tonight. I think it's down to 52 already. Guess I should turn the heat on.

Have a good one!
