11/17/12 It's a Magical TEXAS Thanksgiving with the Mouse!

I think you will find this group a very nice bunch. I have sailed with my son only many times and I never have any trouble finding people to hang with :)

That sounds great! The more I think about it, I figure I would meet more people going alone than if I were with a group of people. And that is something to look forward to :)

Maybe you can sit at our table. I'm going with my son who will be 3, my mother, my niece who will be 12 and her mom. My niece is 10 now, so they'd be the same age.

Hey I just read your location line! I graduated from PlanoSHS in 2000!
:goodvibes
We're just north of Houston now, though.

Woo Hoo! My husband graduated from Plano East a few years before you.... well ok, maybe more than a few, haha!

Thanks!
My daughter is actually going to be ten on the cruise.. but I am sure they would get along just fine. :)

I'm trying to talk hubby into letting us go. We have 4 kids though and wouldn't take them so finding accommodations for them might be hard especially since two have autism but I am trying

Took advantage of the onboard credit and booked this cruise in Alaska. As many of you seem to be in the immediate port area, any suggestions on how to get from Houston Hobby Airport to Galveston? Any suggestions on places to stay in Galveston the night before the cruise?

LOL...I'm around one to two hours away, so I have no clue! Good luck!,

He will LOVE it. Just you and your DH. It's a relaxing time for just the two you. We will be taking our kids this time, but I can't say enough about how enjoyable our last cruise was with just Lori and me. Even staying in the smallest insideroom was great. It's all the magic of Disney.

I keep trying to price out how much it would be for hubby and I to go but for some reason the site wont let me find out any cruise info. It says my agent info doesn't match which is weird because it matches for all other Disney destinations. This is quite frustrating

I don't know, that does seem annoying!

If you go to the website for Galveston, they have information about shuttle services from Hobby to the island. Depending on the size of your group you probably have a few choices. I think it runs about $180 for a limo/town car/van ride to Galveston from Hobby. If Disney offers transfers you might do better than that.
Last summer we were in Galveston for a wedding and stayed at the Harbor House which is right at the port. It is walking distance to The Strand and there is a Starbucks nearby too. Breakfast is included with the room. It wasn't luxurious but very clean and spacious and you don't have to worry about a ride to the port. I also love The Tremont House on Mechanic, so it is also very close to the port although you might want a cab unless you don't mind walking with your bags. I also like the San Luis and The Galvez but they are along the Seawall so you will need a cab to the port. I would check every hotel on trip advisor before you book. The hotels along the seawall have a very high turnover rate and get run down very quickly. Some family stayed at the LaQuinta and it was horrible and other family was not pleased with the Holiday Inn SunSpree.

I'm still deciding if we should drive down on Friday night or very early Saturday morning. I think I'll wait and see how the boarding process goes for the first couple of Galveston cruises before I decide. We want to get on the ship as soon as possible!

Hey Everyone,

I am going to get a group rate if anyone would like to join in for the a hotel the night before the cruise leaves.:) PM me if you would like to join in. I am a travel agent so I always can get a group rate lower then the lowest price.:) I have done this before it it works out really nice for everyone but just need to agree on what hotel to stay at.

I should be able to get a group rate at any major chain of hotels.:) Do you want to email me and I can add you to a group list that I am trying to get together for this. You can email me at Travels4all2000@yahoo.com
Thanks,
Kelly (and by the way I am a Disney trained agent also).:goodvibes

And I am so thrilled to see how active our group is! I don't think I introduced my family, so here goes: me, Teri, DH Mason, DS Rylan (8), DD Brynlea (6). We are from the Dallas area.
We were also part of the Magic Spring break cruise, but still haven't figured out to post pics on here.:confused3

We are definitely interested in doing the FE again! My kids loved it!

I know we are still over a year away, but it is never too early to start planning!
