11/05/05 Western - Who's with Us?

:confused3 Hoping to get our paperwork soon - we booked through All Seasons, and havn't gotten our stuff yet. I have started to make packing lists for everyone, and did a massive washing and ironing session of all the "summer" clothes that we are no longer wearing here in rainy, cold upstate NY! All my kids are getting a flu shot today, too. I am also going to buy lots of film, and one of those disposable underwater cameras. I am getting excited, and nervous all rolled up in one! I have been talking alot to a family on our swim team that has done both the eastern and western caribbean Disney cruises. They keep telling me it will be one of the best weeks ever! Claire

Everyone should include me! My suitcase has been open on the floor for a week now and it has 2 pair of capri's in it so far. I have no idea what to pack. :confused3

Since the kids were off Monday for Columbus Day, I had each one of them try on clothes to see what I needed to bring for them. Other than socks and underwear, they're done. I'll start packing for DH and myself next week. I made out my toiletries and misc. pack list on Sunday and I'll go shopping for those items on Friday. We're leaving 21 days from today (3 weeks) and I can't believe that it's finally here! I booked this cruise June 2004 and it seemed like an eternity. As for clothes, DH will probably wear jeans and a polo shirt to dinner, except for formal nights and Palo's-he has to dress up for work every day and doesn't want to on vacation. DS7 is going to wear a polo shirt and docker type shorts to dinner with his new suede Skechers-that's as dressed up as I can get him-I did buy him a pair of dockers pants for the formal nights though. DD7 has a few dresses and cute skirt outfits-but she wants to bring a different pair of sandals for each outfit, yea right :rotfl: . I bought myself a few new items and will probably dress each night for dinner. I'm not bringing any priate gear though-I want to pack as little as possible.

No paperwork here either, but I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for the Fed Ex guy :listen: .

Suzanne,

I looked on line for cruise packing lists, then went through my "passporter" to see how many formal nights, pirate night, etc. then I tried to figure out how many basics, like shorts, tops, underwear, socks, swimsuits, etc. to bring. I have heard there is a laundry on board, too. which is good for me - I have a 9 year old son who uses his clothing as a napkin at times! Claire

Just a tip...

I usually pack my kids' oufits in large zip loc bags....including socks and undies. This way they can just grab a bag and get dress. No searching for anything plus it makes packing so much easier!! Plus sometimes you need a bag to put something in and there they are!

just wanted to add that we're from New Jersey as well.

HI :sunny:
The bag tip sounds good - and you can never have too many ziplocks on a big trip - Claire

My docs are here! Well sort of :rolleyes1 ................UPS and DCL have called to say that the new UPS driver can't find my house :moped: ..................go figure. I'm excited anyway! :cheer2:
:grouphug: How about the Promenade Lounge for 3pm meet? :goodvibes Suzanne-should we do name tags? :rotfl2: ( Just a thought. ) :confused3
As far as dressing up.............Yeah! what the heck you only live once!!!!!!!!!!!! :earboy2:

To Suzanne: You're on sweetie!! Thanks for the invite!! I'll be regularly checking in to see what the group is doing. Thanks so much for organizing stuff!!!

Talk soon,

Michelle

Name tags will be a great idea, with our DIS name and real names on them.
Shall I pick those up for us?

OMG, I regularly pack lots of things in baggies, but I've never done
clothes that way.
You're right though, you can never have too many!
I thought I was being anal.

Do you think that we could get more people to post photos here so that
we might even have an idea of who we're looking for when we meet up?

Ok, one last post for now, sorry so many! I'm just getting so excited
yet nervous/worried.

I just wondered, as I saw we only have a bit over 3 weeks left:
"Anybody else say that they were going to excercise/lose weight
before the cruise, before they put on a bathing suit............
and then come to find out we only have 3 weeks left and haven't
even begun to start that exercise program?"

Or is it just me?

OH NO! :earseek:

I'm getting antsy as we haven't received our docs yet. It's good to know that it comes UPS, as our mailman is on vacation this week, and we're lucky if we receive mail.

Scouter, you're too funny. I've been feeling the same way about losing weight, and now it's only three weeks away. I hadn't even really thought about bathing suits :earseek: .

Our formal wear will depend what I fit into. DH owns a tux because we have a formal at work each year, so I have a collection of gowns.

Packing--we're usually last minute packers, but now I'm actually considering making a list.

We're looking forward to a meet. See you all soon (but not soon enough!)

Between surfing these boards :badpc: and trying to get a work out in, I have not been packing too much. So much to do , so little time. One tip........wear the tight things early in the week. By the end you won't fit in them. :rotfl2: Guess that is why they make elastic waists! :rotfl:

Scouter- thanks for picking up name tags!

Does anyone know if our cruise is completely sold out? :confused3

I have actually been working out for the last week!! I have been starving for 6 days now and am just slightly less agreeable then a grizzly bear when woken. I have stepped on to the treadmill everyday for the incredibly, way too long, length of time, of 15mins per day. But look at me, I'm absolutely gorgeous now. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: OMG, gotta say, you are all cracking me up ... packing lists, starvation diets ... how did all these ME's crop up all over the country :confused3 :rotfl2:

I've been doing The Firm workouts since last March with pretty decent regularity ... but got totally off track in August and September with vacations and back-to-school schedule adjustments :guilty: Anyway, I'm back on track in October ... and have also been drastically counting my calories  Aahh the price we pay for beauty.

I have to agree with wearing the tighter fitting clothes early in the week. BUT a great way to combat some of those extra adult beverages or desserts is to skip the elevator and use the stairs. On our first cruise I don't remember that we ever used the elevator and I didn't gain an ounce. On our 2nd cruise ... I used the elevator all the time ... and I needed the looser fitting clothes at the end of the week. This will be cruise number 3 and I'm back to being a "stairs-only" kind of girl. :rotfl2:

Promenade Lounge with name tags !! sounds good. with our names and disboard name on the tags???

I think we have a new jersey contingency going?! gota love njea teacher days!!!

would you believe our docs went to my travel agent who is on VACATION.. the company said they should be with me next week.. ugh!

Luggage is out and summer clothes are almost ready to go in... I love the baggie idea!
