10, 9, 8, 7…Partying with the mouse NYE 2009! Home and working on a TR.

Great update Pam! I love your window!! Can't wait to read more!

We got about 4 inches, DH did all the shoveling because he likes to play in the snow ;)

Today MK opened early for EMH at 8am. We arrived a little after 8:30. The line for bags to be checked was very long, but we moved through quick. I was too busy taking it all in! I knew this was a gift from my Mom to be standing here waiting to get into my happy place. :flower3: The fronts of MK looked amazingly beautifully decorated for Christmas.
Disney2009051-1.jpg

I was so happy being here. I keep thinking I can not believe last year I was reading everyone’s trip reports and wishing I could go to WDW during the holidays. I am here! :goodvibes DH was sad that I missed the opening ceremonies. I was not sure when they do it on EMH days, but I was not sad about it. I said we can make it a different day. The tree inside is so huge; I am so excited and happy to be here. I said that already. But I truly was!
Disney2009052.jpg

I start to get choked up about it, and remember that first thing we need to do is get DS a button from guest services. DS and I go into the building. I asked the Cm if I can get a birthday button for my DS. She said sure what’s your name? He tells her and she writes it on the button. Then all the CM’s in there come over and sing a birthday song to him. He was so embarrassed, I love it of course. I wished I had DH come inside with us so he could have video taped it. But we did get this on tape.
We proceeded to head down Main Street. I am in all of how gorgeous the decorations really are in person.
WDW.jpg

Many of the CM’s were still out side the stores saying good morning to everyone. Everyone seemed to notice DS's button and were saying Happy Birthday to him. One CM approached us and gave us a surprise FP for phillharmagic.
scan0001.jpg

It was one of many we received that day for the same attraction. I only kept this one for my scrap booking. We did not use it, do to there was never a wait for the attraction. Even the FP machines were covered for it.
We waited for a will to have our photo pass picture taken on Main Street in front of the castle. A lady from Tampa admired our matching phillie’s shirts. She was a Ray’s fan and wanted us to get in her picture with her to show she was ok with the Phillie’s winning the WS.DS and DD thought she was crazy, but DH and I got in the picture with her. I wish we got the CM to swipe our photopass card too. That one I am sure came out great!
Off we go tomorrow land, since it looked like the crowds were all heading to fantasyland.
Disney2009060.jpg

First stop was to get FP for Space Mountain. The wait time already was 60 minutes. We decide to go get in line for Monsters. The wait time said 30 minutes and of course the kids start to complain. DH and I ate our muffins will in line, and I kept getting dirty looks from a lady in front of us. She then tells a CM that we are eating. The CM sees I heard her, and comes over and says when you are done if you could just please put the trash in the can before entering. I said Of course we will. We are so not liter bugs! I guess she thought I was breaking a rule, or maybe she was jealous I had some yummy blueberry muffins to enjoy. :lmao: By this time the children are complaining about the waits at WDW. I said it the first thing we have waited for and it won’t be that long. Of course I was right, and we want right in on the next showing. I was able to get DH to sit in front of a lamp, but not the right one. I wanted him to be "THAT GUY".:rotfl: We never told him what all the fuss was about him sitting in front of a lamp, so next time we will try again. After we got out of Monsters we headed across the street (as I say a lot in WDW) to SGE. The wait time also said 30 minutes. Once again we waited outside for about five minutes and then were taken inside. The wait times today seemed a bit more then they actually were really. This ride bores me now and it seems like we always have someone who brings in a small child who screams the whole time. We go and get on my all time favorite Carrousel of progress. Of course I sing! We had over to get a FP for splash Mountain, since it is the time we are able to get one again. There is no water and a huge sign sitting in the middle of the walkway saying sorry folks! Well I really think it was closed EARLY for refurbishment. We checked numerous times during the day, only to see the sign still sitting there. It was not to close till the 7th! It was strange not to ride it on this trip. That is one thing we have rode every trip.

I dont' know about you but we've had enough snow this year!!! :sad2: Got another 8 inches here in MA yesterday and the foot we got last week hadn't even had a chance to melt yet!! Dreaming of Disney...it's keeping me warm!!! Looking forward to your next update!!:goodvibes
We are too! I had enough of it before it even snow the first time here. I just dont like the cold anymore.

popcorn:: waiting for more popcorn::
:welcome: It is taking me a bit, but it is coming.

Great update Pam! I love your window!! Can't wait to read more!
We got about 4 inches, DH did all the shoveling because he likes to play in the snow ;)

Thanks! I had more but ran out of little round sticky dots to holes things up!
DH and DS do most of the shoveling. Our house is located on the corner, so there is lots of side walk. DH had to do it again tonight after work.

Love the window decorations! I'll have to think of something to do on ours too. :scratchin

I think just forgetting the tape is pretty darn good. :thumbsup2

I think so too! Since how I had to hide things to pack for this trip!

That's too funny that they were giving out FP for Philharmagic - I've never seen that show need a FP. :rotfl:

I didn't know anything about a lamp and Monster's Inc. :confused3 My dad was "that guy" on our last trip, but I don't remember anything special about our seat.

Too bad about not being to ride Splash Mountain. :sad1:

I think my DH and I might go a different time of year next time... Splash Mountain is always closed and DH is so always so sad when we walk by!

Great TR! :goodvibes I'm loving all the Christmas decorations! I've always wanted to go to WDW during the holidays.

Can't wait for more! :thumbsup2

So we go and see what the wait time is for POTC.
Disney2009080.jpg

I always make the kids get a picture taken here.
Disney2009079.jpg

It was 30 minutes wait time for POTC, not bad so we get in line.
MK was just a bit busy today, can you tell from the picture. Adventureland was wall to wall people. I found it to be the same about as our trip in Aug. 2007 during the first days of free dinning. DS had a hard time getting in there without getting wet, and we had a child who kept running in and out as I was trying to take a picture. We waited a bit to ride POTC. Seemed longer than then what it stated.
Disney2009082.jpg

After POTC, we headed back over to Space Mountain for our FP time.
We want through Fantasyland it was busy as always.
Disney2009061.jpg

We did not stay to see the show, way too many people. :crowded:
I remember I wanted to go see the wishing well so we walked up there real quick and I got these pictures.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE PICTURE I TOOK
Disney2009059.jpg

We walked right up and maybe waited ten minutes to get on in the FP line. DS and I decide we wanted to ride Astor orbiter. The line looked short, and we have never been able to ride it. DD refuses to come on with us. She has good reasons. One year we got in line and it broke down with people on it. After that they closed the ride down for the day. Then one year people were stuck on the elevator and it would have been us had she not got out of line to use the bathroom and we let people go ahead if us. It is a dumbo high in the air. I enjoyed the view, but not the wait time.We headed back to Fantasyland hoping it had cleared out some and it did. Many folks moved on to a different area or were eating lunch. We got on Winnie the pooh, snow white all within 30 minutes and walked right on to Phillharmagic. Then decide to get something to eat for lunch. DH wanted to try Pinocchio’s but the kids don’t feel up to pizza. We have not eat there since DS first trip back in 1994. I told DH next time! DH would eat pizza three times a time if I let him. So we decide to try The village Fry Shoppe. Everyone got a hot dog and fries. Food was not bad; I am not a big fan of hot dogs. I only like them on the grill, when I do eat them. We sat right across from the Shoppe in the eating area. It was nice to people watch from there too. Sorry no food pics, I was really bad with food pics this trip. I would remember after eating! :lmao: After lunch we waited about 25 minutes for small world. The line for Peter pan was crazy and the wait time said 120 minutes. I don’t think it is worth it.

Me neither. I was like some pass! Funny thing was we recieved two more later in the day. The cameras are in the lamps. It must be certain lamps.

I think my DH and I might go a different time of year next time... Splash Mountain is always closed and DH is so always so sad when we walk by!

pixiedust:

This was the first time it was closed for us. It was to be open. Their was no water running so I know it was already closed for rehab.I think something is alwasy closed.

Great TR! :goodvibes I'm loving all the Christmas decorations! I've always wanted to go to WDW during the holidays.

Can't wait for more! :thumbsup2

I said that too last year. Maybe if you say it three times and click you heels, you will get to go.::yes::

Then we headed back over to Adventurland again! DH wanted to go wait for Jungle cruise! The line was unreal for this ride. We waited over a hour. I really should have rested before waiting in such a long line. I started to get moody and in a not so magical mood. Every time I moved the boy behind me would walk up into me. :rolleyes2 I can not tell you how many times I turned around and gave him my KATE look. But neither he nor anyone with him seemed to care. So I finally I said nicely “could you please stop bumping into me.” His mom (I guess) said oh sorry he is just excited. Yeah ok, well keep your kid in his own space. "I know" I said but he has bumped into every time we have moved up. Oh sorry she said. I really think some people come to WDW just to piss other people off and take away the magic.:scared: We want and got in line for Tiki room. We had a long wait here it seemed like, and I was getting tired already of people and lines.
Disney2009095.jpg

Disney2009092-1.jpg

I tried to take a pic of DD and DS inside of here and the CM freak out on me. The show had not even started. I was so embarrassed. I told DH after this my feet need a break. I feel like on this trip that we moved around way too much. I guess that’s how it is when you use FP's a lot. We headed over to liberty square, which is where everyone seemed to be now. I could not even get a picture in the shackle things. We got in line for the haunted mansion. We have not been on this ride in a while, since it was down for rehab for so long. I was excited about seeing all the new things they did inside. The line formed all the way back near the LSR. The CM was telling everyone as they got in line, that it would be better to come back later to ride when the line is shorter. The wait time was 90 minutes! We decide to wait, since the park was pretty busy and everything had a long wait time we wanted to do. DH headed over to BTM to get some FP's. By time we got up to the lines near the gate he was back. luck for him he stop and got some drinks for us. We waited about 65 minutes, and it was well worth it. I really like what they did. My pictures are awful.
Disney2009070-1.jpg

Disney2009073.jpg

Most of them I took at the THM I deleted. :upsidedow We go to Frontierland and sit near the stores and get some ice cream from the carts. I need a break, and just want to sit and enjoy the sunshine and atmosphere.
Disney2009086.jpg

DH leaves us and goes over to get FP for Buzz. DH was in WDW mode this whole trip. I was so much more relax and whatever this trip. He was obsessed with FP's this trip.:hyper: I guess it was a good thing. DS got a Mickey sandwich, DD got an izakadoozie, and I got a Mickey ice cream bar. Yummy. :mickeybar DD always gets this, and I buy them for her at home. A lady asked us what that was she was eating. I think it is funny other people have never seen them before. :confused3 Do they not sell this in all states? After we finished our ice cream, DD and I go in the shops and looked at the pins. She does not see anything she wants to buy just yet. We then decide to sit some more :rotfl2:and go wait inside to see the Bear Jamboree. I still love this show. Every time Trixie sings tears will be the chaser for my wine I have always tear up. I don’t know why. This has always been my Mom’s favorite at WDW, so I start to cry and it was like DH knew. So he held my hand. After I am an emotional mess, we head over to ride BTM. WOO HOO!
Disney2009069.jpg

DH yells the whole ride and I just laughed the whole time. He sounded like Vickie from OCH. It is really funny to ride roller coasters with him now. We have been together since I was 14 and he was 17, all those years I rode alone. We had a great time. I wish they had a camera on his ride to take your picture. When we were caught the train and got off at MTF. I had promised the kids we were just going to look around until our FP time for buzz was up.
Disney2009087.jpg

There was too long of wait times for the characters anyways. :rolleyes2 So we walked around in side the houses and sat for a bit and relaxed near the train. I bought my GDN a cute princess shirt. She looks so cute in it. I must get a picture for you all. Then it was time to go ride buzz. DH and I sat together and DD and DS sat together. I actually did better then I have ever done on Buzz. I don’t know how, but I beat DH. Maybe he let me win.
Disney2009056.jpg

Disney2009054.jpg

We then became lazy again and rode the people mover (I still call it that sorry) till someone waved at us. Ok, what does it take for someone to wave at four people waving and yelling you on the people mover? It takes 30 minutes and explain to the CM”S why we still have not got off the ride. LOL A mom who sat to feed her baby finally waved to us. This game became on of our traditions on our 2005 trip. DH and I were beat and we just wanted to sit and relax so we gave DS and DD the mission to get 3 people to wave to them before we could get off. Try it on your next trip, it is not so easy! We see that Space Mountain has a wait time of only 30 minutes and the kids want to ride again. So we do, DH decide to sit this time out, and does not ride. A family in line about ten people up from us was in a heated argument among themselves. I have never seen such a sight in WDW. I was sad for the children in the group. Someone yelled shout up people, and then it became a shout up who you talking to fight. The family was asked to get out of line,I believe. So after all the excitement we had and riding space again….. The kids beg DH and I to ride BTM again! We give in of course. We only waited about 30 minutes to ride it. Which was not bad.
Disney2009096.jpg

We decide we should get some dinner before we have to found a place for the fireworks. I wanted to be sitting in or near a good spot early. We always ate at cosmic rays, so that meant hiking back to tomorrowland. I like that there is many choices at rays. DD of course is always a picky eater. She ended up getting the chicken salad, DS got a rotisserie chicken with Mashed Potatoes, DH has bbq pork sandwich, and I got turkey bacon wrap. Again no pictures, sorry I would have remembered but when we sat down at the table, DS said “Mom look”. :faint: The castle was lighted up and I was like a small child seeing Christmas lights for the first time. OMG seeing the lights on the castle for the first time is so amazing.
Disney2009100.jpg

Even through a window at cosmic rays. I could not keep my eyes off of it. DH kept saying “ok honey you need to eat your dinner.” LOL It really is a nice spot to sit and just stare at the castle. After we ate dinner we walked and browsed in all the shops along Main Street. It started to get a bit windy and I felt cold even with a jacket on. We want and got in out favorite spot to see the fireworks, near the bridge to tomorrow land.We sat right under where tink fly’s by. As always wishes was amazing and magical.
Disney2009144.jpg

After wishes it looks like many people were not leaving their spots for spectro magic.DH had bought everyone some yummy hot chocolates to keep us warm.We took some pics in front of the castle while trying to scoop out a spot for Spectro Magic. pixiedust:

Wow sounds like you did a lot at MK, we love to watch Wishes from the Tomorrowland bridge too :goodvibes

WOW Pam sounds like a very busy day in MK!! I can't wait to get DH on BTMRR and Splash! He has the motion sickness thing too! But, he promised me both during our trip in March. Good thing for the wonders of Dramamine!

I felt the same way about the castle lights. I started to cry on the boat from WL to MK when castle came into view!

Can't wait to read more!

We got lucky and walked up to the hub and found an empty spot right on the corner of Main Street. It was cold waiting for the parade. Every time the wind kicked up, you saw everyone clinch their jackets. BUT NOTHING LIKE COLD AT HOME! I had already sucked up so much sunshine today, I was not complaining about a little chill in the air. I sent DS and DD to go buy a popcorn bucket, so I would not forget to get one for Scott. We made room for a little girl to sit next to us right before the parade started. I of course had to talk to her, and shared the popcorn with her. I love four year olds. I miss teaching Pre School so much. She had never seen the parade and I told her it is the most amazing parade you will ever see. If the Mom and Dad would have not thought I was a crazy lady, I would have snapped a picture of her face when the lights want out the parade started. I just love seeing the magic of Walt Disney. I really hope Walt Disney gets to see everyday from heaven, how he puts a smile on people’s faces of all ages; 365 days a year. Ok, now I am getting myself choke up again.

On this magic night, A million stars will play beside us, Cast a spell of light, Glimmering, shimmering, carousel-ling 'Round the world tonight,A symphony in SpectroMagic. Pure enchantment lights our way. Welcome to the splendor, the spectacle, the sparkling sensation, where the comedy and thrill of Disney fantasies come to electric life. And now, the Magic Kingdom proudly presents, in a million points of musical light, the magic worlds of Disney...in SpectroMagic!

So long! I'm Jiminy Cricket...in SpectroMagic!

We head out of the magic kingdom, and to the POFQ bus stop. To honest with you I was ready to go back to my warm cozy yes still dusty room.
I was tired, and tomorrow we were sleeping in before heading to the animal kingdom. I have asked everyone and none of us remember how long it took for a bus or anything. I was in need of some magical dreams, is all I can say!

Wow sounds like you did a lot at MK, we love to watch Wishes from the Tomorrowland bridge too :goodvibes
We did, even with the long wait times!
Thanks for reading!

Great Spectro pics! :goodvibes We finally got to see it for the first time on this trip and it was awesome! :thumbsup2
It is something I refuse to miss on our trip! I can miss the day parade, but not Spectro Magic. It is my favorite parade.

Astro Orbiter is SOOOOO NOT a Dumbo ride up high!!! :scared: That ride goes FAST!!!

You guys did a lot on your MK day despite the crowds. :thumbsup2

I was just a little excited! :hyper: DH was told to move back and the CM took the picture. He looks like he is going to fall over.
