10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Welcome to the cruise Jane :goodvibes .

You should be able to look at your reservation on the DCL site now. It is available as soon as you book. Make sure you have Disney's confirmation number not your TA's confirmation number. Ask your TA for the Disney one. I booked our cruise through Dreams Unlimited whom I hadn't dealt with before. It's a bit scary booking with people I don't know & are in a different country.

I'm sure you will learn a lot from this site. This cruise will be our 3rd but I found out a lot of things before our first one by reading the DIS.

Have a good week everyone

Tania

Thanks everyone for the welcome. I will have to call the TA and ask her about getting the Disney confirmation #, sounds like good advice. Im playing bridge tomorrow and we put my Dad back in the hospital and he might get out tomorrow and Im the only driver, so might not get to it until Tuesday, but I will.

I see now I could have booked directly thru Disney for the same price, but couldn't see that on Friday. Oh well, it's booked (I think lol). We spent the day at the hospital after church and then went out to eat. Ill check back tomorrow night. Sounds like we have a good group going. I still cant believe we are all booked so far in advance. Anyone else wait listed for first dining?? lolololol

Sorry about the mis-information on the Disney reservation. I'll have to call my agent and get my Disney confirm. number as well. I must have misunderstood her.

Lori P. :)

Lori, you're not the only one that has been told that (or thinks that). I have read similar comments in other posts. I thought that was the case last year when I booked our first cruise. When I asked my TA she gave me the Disney #.

It's quite exciting to look at your reservation online & also be sure that it has been booked properly.

Woohoo :cool1: - thought I would share. I have just posted and have finally "earned my ears" and am now a mouseketeer. Now I won't have to worry about looking funny on our cruise with no ears :lmao:

Congrats on your ears, ears are handy things lol. I'm looking at the ad for Dreams that you said you booked thru and looks like they offer a nice OBC. Im tempted to cancel and rebook with Dreams??!! I would feel bad doing that after the work she went thru. hmmmm..

Its 4 am and can't sleep and going to be a long day, so I got up to check out online. I hope everyone's day goes well. We have been in crisis mode here the last 6 weeks over my Dad his heart went out of beat etc etc.

I see on another email the Disney ref #, its different than the booking # apparantly with Disney, so Im all set now. Disney seems to be a little different than other cruise lines.

Whew! One day of Bible School down, 4 more to go.

I did call my travel agent and left a message asking about a Disney number. It'll be more fun being able to access my account online. I probably confused the heck out of her, but she's so sweet she'll act like she understands my message, lol.

Lori P. :)

I agree mommto4, seeing it online makes it more real somehow, something you can pull up and look at :) I'm glad to see I'm not the only one here learning as we go along.

I have a cruise and hotel booked for this September. I didn't take out insurance on that trip, but I hope I can still do the trip and all this Disney info and speak should help out to use the time better in Orlando. Keep your fingers crossed that we can get my Dad back on his feet and that I can get away for that long. After I get back from that cruise I will have been out of Port Canaveral and hopefully have learned a lot for our trip on Magic. You'all are going on Magic for 7 days right? Im on the right roll call? I looked at the first post and it didn't say the ship's name but I figured it had to be the right cruise.

Yep, you're in the right place. We did a four nighter back in Oct 05, and it just wasn't enough for me. I can't wait to be on that ship for 7 glorious nights! I don't even care about the land excursions. I could just stay on the ship (except for Castaway Cay), and I don't think it would bother me at all, lol. When we did Nassau, my DH and 2 of my DSs got off for about 1 1/2 hours but that was it.

I do hope your father's health improves. I will keep him in my prayers.

Well, I guess I need to clean up my bedroom, so I'll write more later!

I think this cruise goes to Grand Cayman? I tried to post the link to Captain Marvin's in Grand Cayman, thats probably the most well known private excursion? I got an error that says my post count is too low to post links here??!! but you can google the link easily enough. at least I think this says I can't post links.

The following errors occurred when this message was submitted
Could not find phrase 'error_postcount_too_low_post_links'.

Most everyone does stingray city snorkeling, good prices and he has children's prices. He has 2.5 hours and 3 hours. stingray city is on a sand bar so its only waist deep and not scary if any of you are thinking about this? Its the one must do thing in Grand Cayman at least once (so Iv been told lol). There are other private excursions for stingray city of course.

Of course my sister wouldn't swim, can't get her into the water, Captain Marvin has a $25 short land tour to the turtle farm, Hell and past 7 mile beach. We are pretty undecided because sometimes she has bad days and we dont know when so we usually have to play ports by ear. Royalcaribbean wanted $45 I think to take you just to the turtle farm. Dont have a clue about Disney excursion prices, but Im betting both of these excursions are at least twice as much thru the Dsiney ship.

Save some money for rum cakes, they are so good. I got Blackbeards which I read about before hand, a little cheaper and better than Tortuga brand. Both made in Grand Cayman. Good Christmas presents.

Anyone else planning anything special in any of the ports? Too early to start talking about what folks are going to do if anything? I tend to be like a little kid and get excited about stuff.

We won't decide on excursions until closer to the time as exchange rates make a big difference on what we do. Although I am reading all the posts about the different excursions.

Most excursions are too expensive for us (4 of us) considering we will have paid a fortune for flights :scared1: , the cruise, accomodation & WDW tickets.

Last year we only did 1 excursion on the Eastern. Chose one of the cheaper ones but thouroughly enjoyed it.

I don't think it's too early to talk about what you want to do :goodvibes it's always good to plan, re-plan & re-plan some more :lmao:

Hey Lori P! I'm from Ringgold, which as you know is practically Chattanooga!
I'm a teacher too! Isn't that something?? Small world, huh?

:rotfl2:

Ginger

PS I've almost got my sister (also a teacher) and her family talked into going. Now we just have to pray that my county keeps fall break, and it continues to be the first week in October! My husband turns 40 on October 5, 2008. I really want to be on the Magic when that happens, not preparing lesson plans for a fourth grade classroom.

Ginger: Hi neighbor!!!

Hamilton County doesn't post their yearly calendars until Oct. or so before the next school year, so I never know for sure if I'm scheduling a cruise for fall break or not. In 2005, I had booked the second full week because that was when our fall breaks had been the previous years, but of course that year, they moved it to the third full week.

I couldn't reschedule the cruise at that point, so I took that week off from school. My principal was okay with it, so I actually had two weeks off. That way we did a four night cruise, then did seven nights at WDW. It's a hard life, but one I must bear, lol.

I am hoping that when we go in 2008, we can do MNSSHP that Saturday night (as well as hit Beaches and Cream for our ritual Kitchen Sink sundae) Anyone else thinking of doing the Halloween Party at MK? we went in 2005, and it was a great time!

Quick question..have any of you tried Weight Watchers before? I just signed up for an online version of the program. I have got to do SOMETHING about this body before it totally gets away from me. I'm looking forty in the face, and my metabolism has decided to slow down with each passing decade, lol. I would love to be down to my goal weight by the cruise. Who knows? I might even put on a bathing suit and sit around the pool. :)

Lori P. :)

Im a big supporter of low gi dieting and diets like Nutrisystem. You can lose more weight faster and more healthy with a low gi diet than Weight Watchers which is basically just cutting calories (Iv seen the comparison studies). You can cook your own low gi too and lots of support message boards.

I need to start back myself, since my Dad's heart went out of sync and Iv been involved with eating with family constantly lately and eating comfort foods, Im gaining like crazy. We have been buying any little fast food thing, sandwiches, pizza you name it to tempt my Dad to eat, he has lost over 30 lbs and skinny as a rail and Im gaining, I eat whatever we buy to tempt him with.

I hope weight watchers works for you and you are in bathing suit mode by our cruise. Good luck. Go go go for it. We are here for you.

My sister (who is reeaaaaaly close to booking the cruise) has done the WW points several times in the past, always with success. It is always a slow success with her though. Her matabolism seems almost nonexistant. She had my second neice in March, and has started the points again on Monday. It's a long haul for her, but she's determined to do it. If you want any tips I'm sure she would be willing to email you. Just pm me if you want her address.

Good luck to you!
