We leave in the morning for our curise. We will talk to you all later when we get back. Have a great week.
Kim

We are back, you all have been very quiet this week. Cruise was fun. more good then bad, but Disney is MUCH better. Costa Maya was one of our favorite ports.
Hope everyone has had a good week. Back to work today that was very hard.
Will post more later about trip, but to bed early for me tonight.

Hello from NY. It has been very nice and sunny these paast few days. :cool1: I think summer has officially begun. Well, me and my son managed to get some sun burn after just a little while outside. I had to goto the store to get some zinc oxide and I had to buy an extra tube for our 'cruise box'. My husband laughed that I had already started my box.
Have a great holiday weekend everyone. Only 495 days to go!!

Happy Long Weekend Everyone!

We are getting two of our granddaughters for the weekend. Tomorrow, we're meeting my daughter and her two little ones at an indoor waterpark. Should be lots of fun.

It's raining right now in mid-Michigan. Temps are cooler than they have been.

Kim: Which cruise line were you on? Friends of ours are on the Magic today for the first Med cruise. Wish I was there!

Hi everyone! Please excuse the huge goofy grin on my face,:goodvibes but I just got off the phone with my travel agent, and I have booked our second DCL cruise for October 4, 2008!!!!!

I almost cried I was so excited. My family went on the Wonder in 2005, and had a 7 night planned for Oct. 07, but decided to focus on our consumer debt instead. Well....I tutored after school this year, and I am using the money for a deposit for DCL.

Well, now that I have jumped in and started rambling, I had better introduce myself and my clan.

(All ages are listed by the age we will be our cruise) Our cruisers will be me (will I really be 40?), my DH, David (40), DS13 (he'll turn 13 on Oct. 7), DS11, DS9, and DS7.

I'm not telling my family that we're going yet, so you guys will unfortunately bear the burden of my excitement. I apologize in advance for any outbursts of sudden laughter.

I am looking forward to meeting you guys. It sounds as if there are a couple of other teachers, so by October, we'll really need a break, won't we?

Today is my first day of summer break, b/c I had to work last Friday even though the kids were out, and I went to a workshop yesterday. After breaking up the 500th spat between my four boys, I'm thinking maybe year round schools aren't such a bad thing, lol.

Talk to you later,
Lori P. :)

Welcome Lori and Family!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

This cruise it will be me (57 at the time of the cruise!!! Holy cow!!! I'll be that old???!!!) and my DH (who will be 59 at the time we cruise. We are going on the DVC cruise this fall. We just love DCL.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Jan

Hi again,

I've come back to earth a little. I have been pouring over my old Passporter, and now think I need I need to buy the updated one. I wonder if there is anything much new in the most recent edition.

Does anyone have any big vacation plans this summer? We're going to Navarre Beach (near Pensacola) in July, but other than that we're stuck here in Chattanooga. Actually it's a pretty nice place to be. :)

This may have already been answered , but what floor is everyone staying on? We will be on Level 5, rooms 5127 and 5129.

That is really not this summer but close enough. Have a great weekend, We are off to Jackson to watch my oldest play a baseball game this weekend.

Talk to you all soon.
Kim

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:
Lori and family! Glad to have you with us. This trip will just be an adult trip for us, just like Jan and Dave (:wave2: Jan and Dave).

Work has been making me :crazy2:. I hav been doing some travelling for work and will do a bit more before the next month or so is over. We have no plans for the summer - just waiting for our Thanksgiving trip to WDW and then on the Wonder.

Have a good weekend everyone. No plans here - other than the floor of my closet is all over the bedroom so a bit of cleaning and :laundy: appears to be in my immediate future.

Quick question...does everyone have their passports?

I want to get ours taken care of since I know that there will be a huge backup at the first of the year, but for six people, we're looking at between $600 and $700.

How long do you think it might take to get them? I'm thinking of doing one per pay day starting in August, which would put me finishing up around the beginning of October.

Surely a year ahead is enough time. (I don't want to appear to be overreacting, but my travel agent said she knew people who applied in Nov. and still hadn't received their passports.)

I think this is a great plan. :thumbsup2 We have ours and I keep reminding my in-laws to get theirs. I think you should be ok since offices are making adjustments for the huge demand.

Welcome Lori & family.
Lori, we will have a boy of 9 as well.

We have just had our last holiday weekend until mid October  . Winter has just started to arrive, although some days it's still warm. The morning temperatures are cold. This time last year it had already snowed in the places that get it and the ski season had started and we were getting ready to escape for the winter on our big 3 month trip.

We have had the warmest May ever. Ski season is supposed to start soon but there hasn't been any snow and it hasn't been cold enough to make any.

Hope you all have a great week.

Tania

Hi all! Signing in today from sunny Chattanooga. Supposed to be 92 degrees today, but since we've had NO rain for quite a long time, there's no humidity. That's really nice, but I know we need some rain.

Kim, if you come to Chattanooga and want to meet up with our boys (sounds like their the same age range) at Chuck E Cheese for lunch one day, let me know. They've redone the games and it's pretty nice. Even my 11 1/2 year likes it.

Below, I've listed all the DIScruisers who have posted so far. I hope you don't mind, but it helps me to keep a running list to keep up with who's who. Jan, if you want to copy and paste this list into your first post at the top of the thread, you're welcome to. That would make it easy to find for everyone.(That's what Laura did for the Oct 6, '07 cruise before I had to drop out:sad1: )

I guess it would mean that you would then be the only one who could add to the list, so if you don't want to fool with it, I will occasionally post the list throughout the thread.

Lori P. :)

You can add Jane (me) and Karen (DS) to your list and we are in Texas. I THINK we are booked, at least I have a booking #, but the Disney site doesnt recognize it, it says. We just booked today and I found a link on another site to here for Disney. We are so excited, this is our first Disney cruise (not our first cruise). I read thru the prior posts and have lots of questions, what is a SPR Room and the double dip special wesstern cruise and the passporter?

Iv been to all the ports. I think one of the most popular excursions in Grand Cayman's is Captain Marvins. He has two kinds, one on land to the turtle farm with 20,000 zillion turtles and out to Hell rock formation and he has the more famous ones to swim with the stingrays for 3 different amounts of time. We have been to Key West, but glad to go again, we were not able to do much the last time, my sister was under the weather.

I am soooooooo excited and glad to meet you'all. I checked my online bank statement and the deposit went thru, so that seems like a good sign that we might have a reservation?

Hi Jane!

Yes, you should have a reservation. I booked mine through a travel agent, and she told me that my cruise doesn't show up on the DCL site until it's paid for. At least that's what happened in 2005. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.

SPR stands for Secret Porthole Room. These are rooms on the ship that are classified as Category 10, but are actually category 9's b/c they have a porthole. The porthole is partially obstructed by "stuff", so I guess they don't want to sell it at a cat. 9 price. They really aren't such a secret anymore, b/c they are pretty hard to get. My family had them on our 2005 Wonder cruise. You get a porthole while paying a price for an inside cabin.

Passporter is an excellent guide to Disney Cruise Line. I want to buy a new one, but as you may have read, they're coming out with a new one January 08. Check out their website at www.passporter.com

As far as the double dip Western, I'm not sure when it is, but the term double dip means the cruise will visit Castaway Cay twice during the cruise instead of the customary once.

I will be glad to add you to the list, but I do have one clarifying question that I hope doesn't offend....you listed Karen as (DS). Was that meant to be (DD) or is your son named Karen? Just want to make sure I list it correctly.

Once again, welcome. I'm pretty new to this thread, but am excited as well to get to talk to you guys!

Lori P. :)

Wow I got a email with your reply, this is a nice message board. Let's see, I thought DS meant dear sister and I mentioned my sister being under the weather last time we went to Key West, which I thought would clarify DS, but yes I can see it can mean lots of things. I was trying to follow all the message board speak I was reading and guess I got too clever. :P

I had booked a group cruise (out of Florida) for last January and my sister said she wished she was going, so I said ok, I will just have to take you and got her a passport and we have been on 3 cruises together besides the one I went on with a group from online. 3 western caribbean and 1 eastern (thats why Iv been to all these ports).

The RCL cheerleaders told me I would love RCL which is the last cruise we did, I love the repeat cruise benefits but wasn't all that impressed with RCL. Iv liked Princess best so far.

I couldnt sleep and had been up surfing cruise sites and clicked on "close to home cruises/Galveston" and this cruise came up (huh??) (I decided it was kismet) and I said hmmmmm. To make a long story short, all the TAs I knew were busy/unavailable and so I googled Disney cruises and found a TA to ask questions to, and just went ahead and booked the cruise. I do see on this site that one TA says she gives OBC and if you book while on your cruise you get a future discount of 10%, so next time I will know a lot more. We know zero/nadda about Disney, just started to read yesterday about them. So between knowing nothing about Disney and using a TA I never heard of before, is why Im hoping I have a reservation and didnt worry until I tried to enter it at the Disney site. So I have to make final payment first? Do they have a boarding pass or similar to fill out online you print out before the cruise?? Lots of time, so dont worry, just talking out loud.

I couldnt believe when I was reading this thread that so many had already booked this cruise and were on this roll call. Sounds like either I got lucky with you all or folks book Disney earlier than other cruise lines?? See, Im still at the stage Im full of questions. I will shut up and listen for a while and soak up all your knowledge. I have to admit the idea of a Disney cruise excites me. I grew up watching Disney after Lassie on Sunday night and popping pop corn.

The sum total of my knowledge now about what is different on Disney cruises is you can get coke for free, they have more service (dont have a clue what service lol) and I read they have Disney characters on the ship. I also read the food was not as good on Disney. Cant wait to go and find out. Count us in.

You've certainly come to the right place for information. :)

As far as the abbreviations that are used, there are so many acronyms that it's like swimming in alphabet soup. Between this board and the field of education that I work in, there's no way to keep up with all of them.

Here is a link that explains the different ones here on the DIS: http://www.wdwinfo.com/abbreviations.htm

And here is the link for DIS newbies that might answer any questions you might have. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=439040

Also, please don't hesistate to ask anything on this board. 99% of the people are so helpful and friendly.

I'll come back and "talk" later, but my babysitter just arrived. My DH and I are going to watch Oceans 13. Nothing like spending the afternoon with my hubby, Brad Pitt and George Clooney, :thumbsup2 .

Lori P. :)

Another busy weekend at the baseball park. We have three games today, and we were at the park till 11 last night. We are so ready for this cruise!!!!

Lori- Chuck e cheese would be fun, but the kids do not know we are going to cruise again. Maybe we can figure another way to get the kids to meet eachother. After baseball season, we will have a weekend in chattanooga.

Off to the park have a great rest of weekend
Kim

Kim, mine don't know that I've booked ours either. They just know that we might do a cruise next year. If you're like me and read the boards even when I don't have a trip planned, we could just say we met on the DISboards, not necessarily on the cruise boards.

We are having a lazy Sunday here. I went to Sunday School this morning, but am now at home laying down reading the DIS. I'm waiting for a friend to pick up DS9 to spend the night, and then I might get my lazy self up and go do something.

Everyone must be having a busy week, not much posting going on, lol. I bet towards next October, we'll be posting fools:dance3:
