10/4/08-Buccaneers Take the West! Cruiser List in Post #1

Dry dock??!! We did the Rhapsoday a few weeks after it came out of dry dock and frankly it was not ready, they tried to do too much. The buffet was closed down most of the next week, halls flooded, elevators were out periodically, electricty and plumbing went out off and on, shows were cancelled, etc. It was fine by our week though.

Im sure the rest of you noticed that when Magic comes back from the West Coast it has a special 5 day cruise and then goes into dry dock. Any word what changes will be made? new mattresses, new carpets, new bedding? Any major remodling like they did on Rhapsody moving drinks areas in the buffet and such? Looks like only one cruise before us after dry dock. I'm glad we are the 2nd week after dry dock just in case. Anyone have any information what is being done this time in dry dock? Im finding it very hard to get Disney information unlike other cruise lines, maybe there is a thread Im missing here.

WELCOME to all new posters for our much needed and too long from now 10/4/08 cruise!!! :cheer2:

Lori: Thanks for the cruiser list. I have edited the #1 post to include all of us. I'll update as more join us.

As you can tell from my signature line, Dave and I like cruising with DCL.

Lori: I'm a WW lifer since 1988. Have started and stopped too many times. If you think your metabolism is slowing down and you're not yet 40, wait until you are in your mid-50s like me. WHOA!!! The slowing down process has not been fun for me. I have tried Medical Weight Loss and had great success, but regained the weight. I definitely don't have the willpower as I had when I was your age.

Jane: Hope you father is doing better. It is so difficult when our parents' health becomes big issues for the family.

Have a great day everyone. Happy Father's Day to our guys.

Hi all!

Kim: I was over in your neck of the woods this weekend! I took one of my students to compete in the National Jr.Beta Club's spelling competition at the Opryland Hotel. MAN....that place is HUUUGGGEEE! I certainly earned some activity points with all the walking I did in that place (not to mention that I almost fainted from exhaustion after playing Dance Revolution in the arcade :faint:

Jan: Thanks for putting the list in your first post. It makes it easier to find.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Tomorrow, I attack my basement(maybe). If I'm not careful, the summer will slip away and I won't have accomplished a single thing I wanted to do.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Hope everyone has had a nice week. Been a lazy week here except yesterday I took the boys to Chattanooga's Children's Museum. Going to my SIL's house to swim today. Hopefully that will tire the boys out for easy bedtime.

"Nice" might not describe my week lol. Did I mention that right after we got my Dad out of the hospital the first time after his heart went out of sync we were just about to take him to the heart doctor for a follow up and my sister (who is the one who cruises with me), fell and broke her wrist so bad she had to have surgery on it. She has not been flexing her fingers the way she should so that doctor is sending her to theraphy today before she loses use of her hand. My Dad's urologist that he got the 2nd hospital visit (when my mom put him back in because she said she wasnt going to sit there and watch him die, he was just going downhill) said this week all he wants to do is medicate him for enlarged prostate, he wouldnt operate unless the heart doctor says ok, even if its caused by cancer, too dangerous with my dad's heart out of sync. Because of the bleeding though they cant put him back on blood thinner and without the blood thinner they cant shock his heart back into rhythm.

So Im feeling like we are between the rock and a hard place. At least I got some answers this week from different doctors where we stand, even if few solutions. All this started late April right after I booked the hotel in Orlando for the cruise this fall. He was mowing the lawn 2 days before all this happened and has always been so healthy, so its a shock to us all.

I need a cruise. I took a HUGE gamble yesterday. Im cancelling the Ohio part of my trip this fall I decided and I booked the back to back part of the cruise this fall to make it worth while going to Florida this fall. Now I just hope I can be gone that long this fall since as I mentioned Im the only driver of the 4 of us. I just hope nothing goes really wrong with my Dad this fall while Im gone, but I cant just stay home forever either? (crosses fingers toes and eyes for luck).

Jane, I'm so sorry about your dad and your sister. I'm sure that having you there is such a comfort for them both, but I don't blame you one bit for extending your cruise this fall. It will be good for you to get some rest and relaxation (plus it will be neat not having to get off the ship when everyone else does, lol)

We had a pretty "exciting" day. Went swimming, then took DS11 to a birthday party, took the other three to Chuck E. Cheese, then back to pick up DS from party, then home, and in 20 minutes I will be putting my dear darlings to bed. I LOVE bedtime!

QUESTION FOR EVERYONE: What is the one thing you most look forward to on your cruise?

My answer: Waking up early, going to deck 9 for coffee and a choc. croissant, and watching the sunrise.

We have not done Disney, so I guess it would be the revolving dining rooms and the one that goes from black and white to color and the fireworks off the ship on pirate night. The things that you dont get to see on regular cruises. ... at least I hope they are worth it.

Lori- Hope you had fun in Nashville last weekend. We have been in Jackson playing baseball the last 3 weekends. We are off this weekend:cool1: :cool1:
The boys just love the childrens museum in Chattanooga. They just beg to go to it.

We are going to chuck e cheese next weeknd for a party. The kids always have fun with that.

Hope every one is doing well this weekend. Hopefully when baseball season is over, I can get back on the boards and feel part of our group again.
talk to everyone later.

Just one thing  . I think it would be sitting on our veranda in the sun, reading & snoozing while the kids are in the club.

I'm also looking forward to no cooking, no getting lunches for school, no running around for after school activities, having family time. Also getting great service on board!

Have a good week everyone.

QUESTION FOR EVERYONE: What is the one thing you most look forward to on your cruise?

Hi everyone :wave2:
I am looking most forward to Serenity Bay! Last time (Nov 06) DH and I snorkeled all day, rented tubes and just relaxed. It was truly paradise!

QUESTION FOR EVERYONE: What is the one thing you most look forward to on your cruise?

Spending time with some very dear friends - Jan and Dave! And while that may sound corny, I really mean it.

Hope all of you are doing well and a big :welcome: to everyone that has joined our group. HOT here in Cadillac and really muggy but releif is on the way today - or so the weatherman says.

Take care - it is hump day so the weekend is coming!

Greetings to all! It's already hot here in Chattanooga, but hopefully, we're also getting a little relief this weekend.

Well, my WeightWatchers is going pretty well. I have been following this plan for two weeks, and I have lost at least 5 pounds!!! I really like the way it teaches you to make choices about what you eat. Nothing is off limits as long as you're willing to sacrifice the points. I would rather eat a cup of cherries for a point instead of one piece of candy for a point. Maybe by the time our cruise gets here, I won't be so afraid of bathing suits, lol.

Another thing I'm looking forward to is getting a lunch from the buffet and finding a table in the shade, watching my kids wade in the Mickey pool.

Lori P. :)

We ordered the Disney DVD and it came with some pages of Disney stickers. If any of you have kids who like stickers or watching the DVD will get you in that cruising mood, you should order it. We watched it yesterday. :)

Good Morning Everyone!

QUESTION FOR EVERYONE: What is the one thing you most look forward to on your cruise?

Lori: I'll be joining you on deck 9!

Gail: Spending time with some very dear friends - Jan and Dave! And while that may sound corny, I really mean it.

Gail -- the main reason why we are cruising on 10/4/08!!!

Other things I always look forward to on DCL (Wonder and Magic):

Deck 4 -- as the ship sails away from port. Love watching the people watching us as we cruise out to sea.

Deck 4 -- reading a book in one of the comfy lounge chairs. I often fall asleep from being so relaxed.

BBC -- my favorite drink!

Castaway Cay -- can't adequately describe it. You have to see it to understand its beauty.

Adult pool area -- Dave's favorite hangout.

Cove Cafe -- love the ambiance, coffee and amenities.

Being spoiled all day long!!!

The characters -- I still get a thrill seeing them. I am known to stand in line to get my photo taken.

Palo -- Just like CC, I can't adequately describe it. Ask the two Daves about their favorite Palo server on the Magic (hint: her name is Anne Marie).

The ship -- magnificent, beautiful. I never tire of strolling around and exploring the ships.

I know I have many other reasons why I look forward to each cruise, but these are at the top of my list.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Jan

bumping us up for the start of a sat morning. hope you all have a great weekend.

We're having a pretty relaxed Saturday, although my poor DH didn't get to go to bed last night. He had to ride with a driver all night, then go do breakfast with his dad this morning. I'm trying to keep the boys quiet while he sleeps today. Picture trying to keep a bunch of young puppies quiet and still and you have a mental picture of what's happening here. I would send them outside, but it's sooo hot, and I guess I'm too much of a softie to send them out in the heat.

We are going to see Ratatouille this afternoon (waiting for the $5 super matinee price), so I'm holding that over their heads, lol.

Jane, thanks for the tip on the stickers. My youngest loves stickers, of course, I have to be careful that they don't end up adorning my furniture. :)

Talk to you later,

Lori P. :)

Lori

Great minds think alike today, we are on the way to Ratatouille tonight:cool1: DH works nights and boys and I are wanting something to do tonight so off we will go in a few minutes. Hope you all enjoyed it.

Hope the rest of you have had a relaxing day.

Kim

Hi All

Hope you are all having a good weekend. It's raining here - just in time for the school holidays (we have 2 weeks off). Still, a good excuse to go to the movies.

It also gives me time to think that this time last year we had just started our 3 month excursion to Italy, France & Disney. We avoided the worst part of winter. It seems longer than a year. I will have to look back at all our photos again & imagine we're warm.

Tania

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy 4th of July! We're going to a picnic where I will know noone but my DH and my kids, lol. Oh well, great opportunity to meet new people :)

I did get to new recipes from the community board and they both turned out great. One was for an ice cream cake using ice cream sandwiches, kool whip, and magic shell. The other recipe was for a sort of baked potato salad. Now, if I can just keep from digging into the potato salad, I'll be fine.

Lori P. :)

Oh Kim, did you guys like Ratatouille? I thought it was cute. Boys liked it as well.

Did anyone else see it?

Lori P. :)
