So basically you are backing up my argument that tipping in the USA is not tipping at all, it’s become a mandatory charge on a meal. Seriously, I understand that the staff aren’t often paid well in restaurants in the US but as far as I’m concerned that’s an issue between the staff and their employer. Why should I have to go for a meal and worry about leaving a tip to support an underpaid employee so they can afford to look after their family. Tipping should be a small amount of cash left for service if that person has gone beyond what you would expect of them, not something you pay because you feel shamed into it because their employer pays **** wages. The US has created an absolute monster with the insane tipping culture over there and the problem is you guys are feeding it and making it worse, it’s insane. Why doesn’t your government just bring in a minimum wage for everyone in the country like most countries in Europe so everybody HAS to be paid a fair wage and not rely on tips. Yes the price of the meals will increase, but then in will be my choice whether to pay those prices or go elsewhere and not feel shamed into paying a ridiculous tip just for somebody doing their job.
