10/26/2013 - A Western Fantasy Halloween Cruise

Thanks for the link! I remember that it was super hot with not much shade.

In 9/2011 we were on the Dream. It was soooo hot!!

When it was time to leave Castaway Cay, we stayed there. No one (well, passengers) knew what was going on, and then a helicopter showed up.

Apparently, 2 cast members had passed out from the heat during the run, and one of them, they couldn't get revived. He was air lifted out. We did find out later that they predicted a full recovery but it was pretty scary!

We were doing B2B and on the second stop there that week, they cancelled the run.

Wow. Crazy! When I ran the Chicago marathon they carted 70 off the course because the heat was 87 degrees! Insane. Anyhow are you running it; I would love to meet you before the run!

That sorta heat is a killier. When we ran the 2012 Green Bay Marathon we actually had to take off any music to hear the ambulance coming up behind us in the race to pick up people. There were so many people down they used every available ambulace and called for backup. People had IV's put in and paramedics hung the IV from a tree and moved on to the next person.

They eventually called the race, my husband was picked up at mile marker 18. I finished the half to only find out my time would not count due to the closure of the race. Pretty disappointing but understanding.

My DH will be running the 5K, I will be with the kids.

Hopefully there will be good weather.

For any first time cruisers (or even first time on a Dream Class ship), here is a great story on Shutters (the photography store on the ship).

I think we will be doing a photobook this year. The cost for that is about $150. The book is about 20 pages long and has about 2 - 3 pictures on a page.

They have a lot of other good information. I was just searching for the price on that photobook this morning, and found that site and thought it was worth sharing!

No, no running for me. . . I'll wait for you over at the bar (or maybe at the chow line) . . . :thumbsup2

speaking of the "chow line". . .
:beach:

  • If you want corn on the cob or ribs, they only have that at "Cookies" and "Cookies Too"
  • If you want rib eye, they only have that at Serenity Bay
  • Because the Castaway Cay day follows "Lobster Night", they sometimes use the left over lobsters to make "Lobster Burgers", which are only at Serenity Bay. This is our 10th cruise and I have yet to see a Lobster Burger!
*** Serenity Bay is only for cruisers 18 and older

Thank you for posting that Janice. The photobook looks awesome although I have to wonder how I am going to find time to design it - and narrow down the photos to go in it :rotfl:

If you still are waiting for access to the FB group, if you want to PM me your full name, I could add you as a friend on FB and then I can add you to the group. It would still need to be approved by Admin but is more likely to be approved if you're added by an existing member maybe :confused3

Alternatively, you can add me on FB - Joanne Alcock (my profile pic is me and hubby with Lotso)

Thank you for your help. I just sent a request. I'm Chris Longo :thumbsup2

Can any one help me with info on formal nights?

I have been on a 3 Princess cruises 1995, 1999 and 2002. I also have been on a NCL cruise in 2010.

On princess formal was what you would think: suits/tux/gowns/dresses.

On NCL I had to take my suit off because people dressed like it was a trip to walmart. These people would have been turned away from most disney world restaurants.

I don't want to bring a suit if I am the only person wearing one.

Last year I was on the Fantasy (2 weeks) - and I saw people dressed up even more than before!! I saw a lot of tuxes which were amazing!! The majority of the people do dress up - but more in suits (for the men - which I'm guessing is your question. . . )

I'm not sure if you are aware or not, but you don't have to do it all at once. Each time you log in, you can pick up where you left off. You will also be able to keep making changes up until you choose to get it printed.

Thank you, I felt so out place. A guy had swimming shorts with a Hawaiian shirt in a dining room on a "formal" night. :confused3

Which ship were you on?

You will see people in all forms of dress - but I think on the Fantasy you will see more dressed up than not.

edited: I just read back and saw you were on a non-Disney ship. You still might see some people dressed down, but I would say the majority will dress up. It is a great night to get pictures done!

We did the Nickelodeon NCL Dawn out of NY. I was told after that Its optional to be formal. Lots of people opted out. Also... It seemed like a ton more smokers on that ship then I was expecting. We had a veranda and we never used it because our room would fill up with second had smoke. We did not have a good trip on NCL.
