I'm having such a hard time right now, and I don't know what to do anymore. I did WW very successfully (lost 65 pounds) and hit goal briefly the summer before the cruise (KK1). Then I gained 5 pounds right back...couldn't keep 'em off. I decided not to worry about it until after the cruise. Fast forward to today, when I weighed in at 40 pounds above goal. I'm so mad at myself - all that work for nothing.

Anyway, this rambling and self-pity does have another point - that maybe WW isn't the plan for me to lose the weight. I keep thinking about the theory that "denying your cravings" only leads to overindulging them later, but maybe eliminating sweets is what I need to do. It's my biggest downfall...

So, I'm trying to figure out what my game plan will be if it isn't WW...and I haven't a clue! I don't want to do a "fad" diet, so what's left? How do other people lose weight or figure out how to eat healthy?

Hmmm....maybe I should post my ramblings on the WISH board instead...but you're my buddies...so you get to hear it all first! :lmao:

This is a real shame Jen that WW is not working for you. What made you stick to it the first time round? It worked then. Perhaps you need to work on WW a week at a time and then have a reward at the end of the week...like a small bag of maltesers. Don't deny yourself a few treats. Treat night for me used to me the night of weigh in....get weighed and then have a treat.

Also writing everything down that you eat worked as well.:lovestruc Don't give up.

Why do I have the feeling the arrange would be more like Neil and I to fend for ourselves with the kids while you and Suz were on a different rotation or in Palo every night (or the bar).

:cool1: Sounds like a great plan Jeff - thanks for offering:lmao:

Suz and I can get that mad waiter again in Palo - he might be nicer to us this time if you're not there insulting him:lmao:

Definitely not. I think it will be rather dead. MNSSHP starts Sept 7th this year (which is really early). I think if you go one of the weekday nights while you're down there, it will be "walk-on" for all the rides.

Sorry, I meant the normal parks not MNSHHP. Do you think they'll be busier than usual cos of people coming for haloween?

I'm the opposite - I know all the info I just ignore it:rolleyes1

I've been dieting since I was 16 (it seems like centuries), been on every type of diet (except slimming world - cant figure out those red and green days) - I just dont stick to anything.

Been real good this week though and good last week too so hopefully I'll shift a couple of pounds this week. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Do you get the chance to exercise? I know its hard working and with Thomas, but maybe its not your food? Could it be that your job is a sit down job and you dont get the chacne to be active enough? Would a pedometer encourage you to move more? My bettery has gone in mine, but it sure did motivate me when I looked at how little I'd walked by lunchtime, so I'd get up and do something about it.

I'm here to help you Jen - we'll struggle together:hug:

Thanks for the encouragement Karen - it helps. I've been dieting since I was a teenager too...my thyroid has been a problem since I was 12, which doesn't help!

I know I don't get enough exercise, and that's part of the problem. I'm hoping now that the weather is getting nicer, I can get to the gym more. It sounds crazy, but in the winter, once I get home I'm cold and I don't want to do anything but cuddle under a blanket and hibernate. I don't want to go anywhere, including the gym.

I think I give myself too many "little treats", which add up as much as the big treats do. I am a sweets addict - I will admit it. I LOVE sweets, can't get enough. Which got me to where I am today....:rolleyes1

Maybe I should go back to the "old" points system, where they didn't give you those 35 flex points, but you got more points per day and could "bank" points you didn't use. Have you done that one?

Oh, I forgot to mention this. Last night as we are watching TV, a certain ST speaks up and asked, "Dad, when are we going to Florida?" I look over at her, give her "THE STARE" and she hides her face in shame, that moment was priceless.......:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:rotfl2:
Teens, gotta love 'em...... don't cha?:confused3

That's the one that I did and lost my weight. When I reached target they introduced the flex points system, but I've stuck to the original system and it seems to work. Don't know which system Di and Walt did.

I think I may try that and see if it works...it's just too easy to blow 20 points on a Saturday and say to myself "but it's ok since I can use my 35 flex points" ....and then see a .4 loss on the scale and wonder what happened, when I really know what happened...

Ok, I think I've talked myself into a game plan, with the help of my wonderful cruise buddies...:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Here's to a good rest of the week for all of us...I'm going to plan menus tonight. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Karen, I am with you, been dieting forever-. I wanted to be in better shape at 50 than I was at 40. I am but have not lost as much as I would like. It just gets old thinking about everything you but in your mouth.

Is there not a prettier spot!!! This is where we sat for lunch!!!

That is a beautiful photo....wish I was there now!

I'm getting my game plan together for Friday, Joanne! I'm hoping maybe I can pull myself out of my rut!

Well, to tell you what I had, I went for the classic 3 cheese grilled cheese and then split the pepperoni grilled cheese with a co-worker in exchange for some of the cheesy joe (sloppy joe mix in the grilled cheese sandwich). Also tried some of the tomato soup.

The cheesey joe was really good.

I was looking at the menu and told my co-workers I'll have to go back 2 or 3 more times to try everything I want. When you first hear of a "grilled cheese" restaurant, you think, what do they have to offer, but you'd be surprised.

I'm trying the grilled cheese with bacon next time. They also have a cheesy brat as well.

:cloud9: That sounds so good!! I love grilled cheese and bacon. We make it at home a lot during the winter.

"You, on a Diet" by Dr. Oz. It tells you about the science of losing weight and being healthy. There is an exercise plan in there as well. It is not a fad diet at all, more like a lifestyle change.

It sounds to me like you have the same problem millions of us have--we don't exercise enough. The older I get, losing weight is falling to #2 on my problem list. #1 is starting to become a bit of a depression. It's not that I am sad all of the time, I am not. It is more that I have no desire to do anything sometimes, e.g. I have laundry (clean at least) piled on my chair in the living room and dishes piled in the kitchen sink right now......and it's not because of DISsing. I've barely felt like doing that either. When I get like this, I know to make myself get some exercise.......

Jen - does it have to be the gym? Could you not take a walk at lunchtime for example?

It takes quite a commitment to go the gym, (I dont go as often as I should:rolleyes1 ) but a 15 minute walk at lunchtime everyday would soon help burn off those naughty sweeties:goodvibes

Can you find any sugar free sweets that you could substitute?

My addiction (in case no one has already guessed:lmao: ) is cheese and cheesecake. I'd kill for either right now.........

its all Jeff's fault - I was fine til he mentioned his lunch

Hi Paige - I watch him often on Oprah - he does talk a lot of sense.

Hopefully when the better weather comes you'll feel a bit better - heres a big hug to keep you going:hug:

Take care

Right, thats me done for the evening. I'll bid you all a goodnight and chat again in the morning.

I'm off to stuff myself with cheese and and cheesecake til I go pop!:rotfl2:

I've heard of that book before....but haven't read it yet. I may have to go pick it up and take a peek.

I have never really liked exercise or sports...in school I was a choir/drama person, not a sports person. I do like dancing, so aerobics is usually a good choice for me (but only in the privacy of my living room!).

I have even been toying with the idea of getting a Wii, and then getting Wii Fit (provided we can actualluy get our hands on either item) to try and build more fun into activity. But, that one's still just a maybe....

I may try to do some walking, but that's not really my favorite either. I like aerobics and the elliptical/cross trainer machines.

Maybe I'll dust off my Richard Simmons aerobics tapes (have you heard of him in the UK) and do those...then at least I don't have to go anywhere...

G'night Karen! Thanks for the pep talk! :cheer2:
