Christopher - when you get back, could you post a list of who is participating in the FE? I was going to dig through this thread for the info, but thought I might be trying to recreate the wheel. I'm guessing you've got it all doc'd up. If not, I'll be happy to do it. Getting excited!!!

so i finally started doing my online check in and look what i saw when i went online:
Only 64 days until your cruise sets sail!

I saw a post saying that Rey brunch might be coming to the Dream. If by chance it's available when we sail, would it be offered on same day as palo brunch? Which would you prefer?

i know there are people who have already had the Remy lunch on the Dream - i think it's called the champagne brunch or champagne lunch and it's one set menu..

i assume it's only offered on sea day (when it's offered)..

i would still go for the palo brunch..

Yeah, remy dinner doesn't interest me as much as palo does. I'm thinking palo dinner, remy brunch if available, but I have to do some more reading up on it.

found this description from someone on the fantasy:
It's a sit-down service with champagne (or sparkling wine) pairings for each course. You don't order anything. All told, there were six dishes including dessert, each with its own pairing. It's $50 per person.

There are other posts about the food/pairings (with pics), and the courses were the same as others have reported. Started with a prosciutto from a black-footed pig from Spain and ended with a pork roast from the same species on the "French side" as they said it. In between, we had gnocchi chili, lobster ravioli and sea bass. The dessert is this heavenly chocolate cylinder with caramel "pearls" (molecular gastronomy at its best) on it. They poured a spiced hot chocolate over it. If other people wouldn't have been sitting in the restaurant, we'd have licked the plate for that one. At the end, they gave us three small desserts, the last of which was a chocolate lollipop. Each bite was better than the last.
i can't find the post from the Dream, but in that one, he said they ate the first course standing up in the wine room (or whatever that's called)..

that menu totally doesn't interest me, so i'll stick with palo brunch... :)

here's the post from someone who had lunch at remy on the Dream:

scroll down to post #28 (complete with pictures of every course)

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2951464&highlight=remy&page=2

the first course was standing up in the tasting room... i really really really really really HATE eating standing up!! i don't understand why they do that....for $50 i expect to sit down through the entire meal...

Hello fellow cruisers...I've been busy the last few weeks and it looks like we got some new cruisers....WELCOME. I am going to check my reservation tonight to see if we got a room assignment yet...as we booked a guarantee room. What happens if we don't find out until when we check in??? For Fish Extenders????

Also REALLLLLLLY interested about the Remy brunch...DH and I are HUGE FOODIES...we've booked for dinner at Remy and Palo and Palo Brunch...but we'd also like to book Remy brunch. Is it really something you just call the restaurant on arrival???

Getting excited. We're not telling DS (5) that we are taking him....we're just gonna drive up to the port and see how long it takes him to figure it out...he's been on 2 DCL cruises before! He talks about going ALL the time!

i assume remy and palo both have brunch on the same day (sea day), so you will have to choose between the two...
based on the menu, remy dinner is much better than remy lunch...at least for me...

Hello to all my old friends from before my summer vacation and hello to all that have arrived over the last 6 or so weeks.

I am going to start sorting through all the posts and make sure that I have caught myself up with what is going on as well as make sure I have added all the Fish Extender people to my list.

Thanks to disneyholic family for keeping up with the role call......I will be sure to edit it on the main page as well as keep it up to date as we go along over the next 63 days.

I hope everyone has had a great summer. I am looking forward to catching up with you all as we count down these final 9 weeks.

Let's go!!!!

Christopher

:welcome:

It is great to have you as part of our group for this sailing! Just 9 weeks to go now.

Do keep checking back to see if your room has been assigned because you will more likely than not be assigned a room before you arrive at the port. I have had guarantee status before as well and I think it was about 6 weeks out that I was assigned my room. As people have mentioned it does not appear that our ship is full at this point so I would guess you will not have to wait until arrival at the port to know.

BUT......In case you are, or if for any reason anyone else on the Fish Extender group has a last minute room change at the port, just be sure to communicate it with me and others when we all meet up on the first day. If some are not in attendance at that meeting, I will be sure to communicate it to the participants as well. This happened on my Fantasy Cruise at Easter and was an easy, quick fix. No need for anyone to panic! :thumbsup2

If you would like to send me an email with your name and the names of your husband and son for the Fish Extender at disneydreamoctober21@yahoo.com I will add you to the list.

The Remy Brunch is still a new thing and I have not heard much about how the sign up is working. I know it is not available for online sign up so if it is offered on our Sea Day I guess you would have to sign up once boarding the ship.

Again :welcome:

Tricia

Here is the information about Fish Extenders that I posted way back on Page 3 along with as much information as I currently have.....I need some confirmations/information from some people. It looks like we sit at about 26 confirmed participants right now. Please see below for the update.

For all of you "first timers", here's an explanation of a "Fish Extender Gift Exchange" that I have modified from a tablemate on my April 2012 cruise who is also a Platinum Castaway Club Member and active DIS-er. Thanks to DebT!

Beside every cabin door is a large metal silver fish (or starfish or seahorse) with an indentation in the back for cruise personnel to leave information, invitations, etc. Teenagers receive invitations to Teen Club activities and we've also received "rebooking onboard" price quotes tucked in our fish.

DISboarders have taken the silver fish (starfish, seahorse) one step further... by creating hanging pockets (much like cloth letter holders) to hang from the fish (or starfish, or seahorse) - thus the name, "Fish Extender". The Fish Extenders (FEs) can be made of practically anything (cloth, plastic, paper gift bags, etc.), as long as they have at least one pocket that can hold surprises. Many are personalized with the names of those in the cabin and there are even sellers on ebay who will create them for you.

On each "Cruise Meets" thread (such as this 10-21-12 one) someone usually organizes a little gift exchange during the cruise. So folks, this time areound that someon is me! People sign up by giving their cabin number, names of everyone in their cabin, and ages of the kids so that everyone will know how many goodies to bring and where to deliver them. Some people give one gift per family, some people give a little gift to each person. It's totally up to the giver to decide what to give and when to give it during the cruise.

There are several threads on the main cruise boards that discuss ideas for FE gifts. Some gifts are from Dollar Stores, some are handmade, and some are bought in bulk from websites that sell trinkets like the Oriental Trading Company. Often, they are stickers, candy, glow sticks, lanyards, etc., with themes such as pirates, beach, cruise, tropical, hometown, holiday, etc. The main idea is just to have fun finding little goodies in your FE throughout the cruise. Kids LOVE running back to their cabin to see if anything's been left in their FE. As an adult, I have to admit that I love it, too!!!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Also, this thread has tons of info and ideas about FE Gift Exchanges: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

I speak from personal experience that it really is a LOT of fun to participate!

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
So for our FE group I am opening up the sign up at this very moment!
To sign up, send me the following details via Private Message here on the DIS Boards or via email at disneydreamoctober21@yahoo.com

  • DIS Board name
  • Names of each person participating
  • Ages of each person under 18 who is participating
  • Stateroom #
  • Contact email address

On the thread here I will maintain a list of participants only by DIS-Board name. The sensitive material such as stateroom number will only be shared with the participants.

Deadline for signing up for the FE Exchange is Friday September 21, 2012. This will allow a full 3 weeks for people to complete any personalization of gifts that they may be choosing to do and ensure that there is not last minute stress just before the vacation.

I will monitor the size of the group closely and if it begins to grow rather large, we will look at dividing it into smaller groups if that is what is desired.

The main point of this is to have some fun while on board as well as having some fun in the preparationa nd anticipation of the cruise ahead. So let's have fun!pixiedust:

I know I'm soooooo far out from the beginning of this thread :) I'm also going to be on the Dream though for the 10/21/2012 sailing! We are very excited as this is our first cruise. We are celebrating the end of my cancer treatment and I couldn't think of a better place to do it! :cloud9: Very excited about the .. I think it was Fish Exchange? :confused3 I don't recall so I'll have to go back through the thread looking. Got our Palo brunch and dinner scheduled though along with our parasail at Castaway Cay!! VERY EXCITING!! Wishing October would just get here already!! :hyper:

:welcome:

Looking forward to meeting you on this sailing!

To join the Fish Extender group go ahead and send me an email at disneydreamoctober21@yahoo.comwith the names and ages of children along with your stateroom number and I will include you in the list.

My Dad who will be sailing with us is 10 year cancer free now! Looking forward to celebrating your treatment completion on the ship!
