10-21-12 Dream!!!

Whew! I'm finally caught up on the pages of posts that I missed over the summer! I hadn't realized I'd been so bad about checking the boards. :sad2: We've been super busy traveling this summer (though not nearly as much as all of you intertnational jet setters). The kids and I did a week long road trip all over the South. We just kind of wander and stop when the mood strikes us. We see a lot of family/friends that way. Then we all spent a week in Vegas to catch Phantom of the Opera before it closes next month. Then I was at a work conference at Siesta Key. I only had 2 days between each trip! Just long enough to do laundry and repack!

In the back of my mind I think I was waiting to get all those trips done before I focused on the BIG one in October!!!!

School starts next week so we are trying to squeeze the last bit of fun out of our summer. We are suprising the kids with Typhoon Lagoon today (they think we are cleaning out closets). In fact, I better go start waking people up!

I promise to be much better about checking the boards...

I think the 8:00 dinner actually works well for us. My plan is to sit at regular dinner with the kids, then drop them off to the club before our dinner. We'll get them out in time for fireworks.

my mom and sister prefer eating early - that's why we have main dning -

so i took the earliest palo that was available when i booked...i just don't remember if it was at 6 or 6:30...

i figure we'll be done in time for the show in the main theater, assuming there's something interesting that night..

i'm not sure if we'll do the pirate party or not...my mom and sister aren't really up to big crowds...
i think we can watch the fireworks from our verandah..

oh wow!! i LOVE road trips!!! my dream is to do a coast to coast to coast to coast road trip ....east to west and north to south...basically covering as many of the 48 states as possible..

it will probably never happen, but maybe one day!!

was phantom the regular musical phantom - like on broadway?
if so, that's one of our absolute favorites...whenver we're in new york, we HAVE to go see it....so we'll see 2 shows, including phantom (like last summer we saw Book of Mormon and Phantom)...

yay!! Doing the Disney Fantasy with my mom for our birthdays. Just booked it today :-) :cool1: . I guess that would make my Honeymoon cruise disney cruise 19. weird my favorite number is 19 and we're getting married on the 19th hmmm. haha

When I was 12 my mom and I flew to my grandparent's house in California (from South Carolina) and we drove home with them in their RV. It was an awesome trip. We took our time and really saw the country. I really want to do it with dd and ds when they get older.

Phantom was the same as the one on Broadway (but I think it was shortened by about 15-20 minutes). It was in an absolutely beautiful custom theater - you really felt like you were in the opera house. Sadly, they are closing the show next month :sad1:. DD is OBSESSED with Phantom so we really wanted her to see it. It was breathtaking. I've heard Book of Mormon is great. I want to take her to see Spamalot (and of course Mary Poppins and Lion King).

i haven't seen mary poppins, though i've heard it's really good.

Unlike the rest of the world, we really hated lion king - go figure.

Book of Mormon was OUTSTANDING!! we saw it with the original cast - i don't know if they're still there, but if they are, they're amazing!!

we've seen phantom 4 times now. The second time was the best. The phantom had the most stunning tenor voice!! The kind of voice that brings you to tears. And he was a gifted actor as well, so you really really believed he was the phantom. And when he sang - god so beautiful. I actually cried when he sang.

The third time we saw it was terrible - the phantom was terrible, christine was terrible, the little friend of christine was horrifying....just bad bad bad...
you sat there and wondered how the actors were given the roles (as in, who did they sleep with to get it)..

the fourth time was a vast improvement over the third time....the phantom was good, which is the most important role....

i think this is going to be my last cruise on DCL....
i really think they are just way too expensive...

same with WDW - they are just so expensive now and getting more and more expensive every day.....the tickets, the food, the rooms...

they're really pricing themselves out for me....

so much so, that i'm even considering skipping WDW when i'm in orlando this october.....i'm sounding like a heretic!

You are one lucky girl!

Thanks haha. Me and my mom were going to disney anyways for our birthdays and to use our DVC or we'll lose them so she decided to book the fantasy as well as disney. Tradition never fails. for the past 6 years we've either been doing a disney cruise or disney for our birthdays since its 3 days apart. Im super excited. Its going to be super special.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!! But i do agree they are pretty expensive but i think you get what you pay for. haha. Sometimes when we are in Florida staying at DVC we dont go to disney we just do downtown disney, the outlets and walmart lmao. sometimes theres nothing wrong with just hanging around the place and relaxing.

DD and i sometimes just ride around on the monorail ....stopping at the resorts and talking to people on the monorail! :)

i just checked our cruise - more than half of the concierge cat T and V are still available so if you're interested, you should ask if there are any available when you check in at the port and how much they want for it..

the price has gone way down from what i paid  and there are still bump out rooms available...

i bet it will be bargain basement time at the port...

had i been cruising with just DH, i would have gambled on the price drop, but i couldn't do that with my mom and sister...

I know I'm soooooo far out from the beginning of this thread :) I'm also going to be on the Dream though for the 10/21/2012 sailing! We are very excited as this is our first cruise. We are celebrating the end of my cancer treatment and I couldn't think of a better place to do it! :cloud9: Very excited about the .. I think it was Fish Exchange? :confused3 I don't recall so I'll have to go back through the thread looking. Got our Palo brunch and dinner scheduled though along with our parasail at Castaway Cay!! VERY EXCITING!! Wishing October would just get here already!! :hyper:

Christopher is in charge of the fish extender.
If you send him a PM and tell him that you're on the cruise and that you want to be part of the fish extender exchange...
Christopher's name on the dis is D73

oh and WELCOME and congratulations on completing your cancer treatment!!!!

my mom is a double cancer survivor (breast and lung cancer - she never ever smoked...her lung cancer was from 2nd hand smoke - she's been cancer free for 2 years) and my sister has 3 primary cancers (ovarian, small cell lung and breast - and she never ever smoked either- her lung cancer was also from 2nd hand smoke)....

anyway, this is a celebratory cruise for the 3 'girls' in the family....just my mom, my sister and me (my family and my sister's family aren't going...it's just the 3 of us)....we're going on this cruise the day after the hereditary cancer conference in orlando...

It seems I can't "private message" till I get a number of posts on the actual site.. argh (best pirate imitation) so hopefully that'll come around soon.
