10-21-12 Dream!!!

Welcome everyone!!

Quick question: I was looking over the Navigator that Beth posted... Is the Pirate party really only from 7:45 to 8:05?? If so, I'm going to book some nursery time for that evening. I was thinking it was much longer so I had left that time open, in terms of nursery. (I know the fireworks will be later at 10:30).

Congrats, Seirra! We were shocked by the amount we were refunded, and all we did was switch to a lower deck (same room style, though, 5 people is pretty limiting). With the $2100 I got back, I paid my tips, set aside my spending/excursion money, bought my youngest DD's AP, went to dinner a few times (and have a few more scheduled!), and set aside money for Food&Wine (that's lunch tomorrow, BTW!). Plus I bought a bunch of stuff ... Halloween decorations I'd been eyeing, a pool coverup, some crocs for DH ... I would have gotten my Halloween Party tickets, too, if we hadn't already gone.

My only problem was that I'd paid with gift cards in $50 increments (saved $200 over the course of the cruise, thanks to the 5% off with the Target redcard). They definitely refunded most of it to the gift cards! No worries, though, with Disney just a couple of minutes away, I'll definitely spend that much with them anyhow! I'm just glad I saved all the cards, and tracked them with the Disney gift card app!

Thanks Jennifer...I know isn't nice to have unexpected money to spend. We too are planning to use the refunded money to pay for tips, spa treatments, and dinner at Remy's and Palo's

Where about's in Florida are you? We are staying with my parents in Merritt Island....just a stones throw away from the port.

But hubby and I and the boys live in Shenzhen, China throughout the year. Don't know if you saw my previous posts about that. He's a corporate pilot...we've been there 2 years....planning to stay another 3-4

Welcome to all the new comers and last min deal finders.

Christopher....I'm up for a family beach event...have to check with hubby as I know he really wanted to spend alot of family time together....he's not as social as me :rolleyes:

Will you send out a final schedule of events before we board....I"m afraid I will forget something.

Thanks again for all your hard work organizing!!!! Much appreciated.

you could always hide stuff in your suitcase and then put it in your own FE when your kids aren't around, pretending it's from someone else, just so your kids get something :)
That's a good idea, except that my girls are the ones that do the delivering of everyone else's gifts, so they would know something was up. One of their fave things of our cruises has been delivering goodies to everyone's cabins.

I understand that I'm probably out of luck, but it was worth it to ask.

maybe you could organize some of the new people who just joined..
there seem to be about 4 or 5 families who joined after the cut off date..

5 families isn't as fun as 20, but maybe it would still be fun?

look at the end of the roll call list - Christopher added people to the bottom of the list as they joined...so the last few on the list are the new people..

Thanks for all of the great ideas, Beth.

I only put it out there because on our last cruise, we had some last minute families join and some of us that either hadn't finished our FEs yet, or those that had extras, went ahead and added them to our list. Since I was in that same boat this time, I figured that I'd ask. But I do understand that this group has been around for a long time and the deadline has passed.

I'm not participating in FE for a few reasons. First I figured it would be hard for everyone to deliver to us on the concierge floor
And the ship is too big for my mom and sister to get around much (they're a bit mobile challenged) so delivering would be hard for us.
And finally I'm so lacking in the creativity area - its shocking how uncreative I am

What's the concierge floor?

on the Dream, there is a gate to the concierge hallway that's sometimes locked, making delivery of FE gifts somewhat of a challenge (from what i've heard)....

You're right, Beth! On the Dream, there is a gate. We were able to deliver things on the Fantasy, but it's much more difficult on the Dream.

We have extra's! How many kids do you have? We are 2 staterooms with 4 adults and 2 kids so we would be happy to exchange with you.

Also Does anyone know if we put our names on the FE gifts?

@Alikat99:
I am happy to exchange as well. I have not started my preparations yet so I can easily add you on to my list.

@Krichard2000:
As for signing the items, I think that is up to the individual giver. Some people choose to add little notes that are signed, others just drop off little things without the name. Individual choice.

@Sierra79
Yes I am planning to put together cumulative "schedule of events" closer to sailing. There may be other things hat come up in conversation before then that we may want to add.

Christopher

My daughter and son-in-law will be cruising with us, her screen name is Mandarin. They are traveling with their DS2, and DD 10 months.A meet at the beach sounds like a great idea, give the kids something to do, and adults a little more time to talk.

Anyway, I know that the FE signup is closed, but we have never not participated in the FEs, so I know that my kids will be disappointed. So, if anyone has any extras, I am willing to exchange with you. Send me a PM. (I do not want to put anyone out though, so if it's an inconvenience, just ignore my babbling).

Amy

We don't have extras of everything, but we have enough to do a nice FE exchange with you. We are in 2 rooms - 4 adults, 2 girls ages 5 and 3, and 2 boys ages 4 and 2. There is a third room of friends traveling with us who are also participating in the exchange. I will see if they are able to add you to their list as well.

Our friends will do an FE exchange with you as well. They have 2 adults and a 4-year-old girl. I'll PM you the info for all three of our rooms.

I happen to have two extra "girl" goodies and one grown-up goodie so I can add you in. You can thank my complete inability to remember my shopping list when I am actually going to the store. I always end up guestimating. Lol! It drives dh crazy!

Awesome, we don't have our room numbers yet, since we just booked on Saturday, but I'll let you know as soon as I find out.

For now, I can tell you the following:
Room #1:
Amy & Chris (DH)
Room #2:
Patti (MIL), Emily (DD-11), Madison (DD-8)

I will put you on our list. When you have 10 posts, go ahead and send me a PM with your room numbers.
