10-21-12 Dream!!!

Congrats, Seirra! We were shocked by the amount we were refunded, and all we did was switch to a lower deck (same room style, though, 5 people is pretty limiting). With the $2100 I got back, I paid my tips, set aside my spending/excursion money, bought my youngest DD's AP, went to dinner a few times (and have a few more scheduled!), and set aside money for Food&Wine (that's lunch tomorrow, BTW!). Plus I bought a bunch of stuff ... Halloween decorations I'd been eyeing, a pool coverup, some crocs for DH ... I would have gotten my Halloween Party tickets, too, if we hadn't already gone.

My only problem was that I'd paid with gift cards in $50 increments (saved $200 over the course of the cruise, thanks to the 5% off with the Target redcard). They definitely refunded most of it to the gift cards! No worries, though, with Disney just a couple of minutes away, I'll definitely spend that much with them anyhow! I'm just glad I saved all the cards, and tracked them with the Disney gift card app!

Where do ya live? I am not to far from the parks either!

Hi all.

A rather successful gathering that occurred on my last Disney Dream voyage was a DISboard gathering together on the Family beach at the far end near Pelican Plunge and the Family Cabanas. It was great for the families with children to gather in one area to allow the children to play, especially since many of them had met at the embarkation day meet and become playmates/friends in the clubs since then. It also allowed DISboarders who had begun to talk online and at the meets to enjoy the beach together.

What do people think? Perhaps something to consider for our group?

Even sailing alone last time I enjoyed spending time at theFamily Beach with the DISers before going to Serenity bay. It was really fun.

ALSO: There was an hour of 2 for 1 Mojitos at Heads Up Bar nearby (that was also listed in the September 5 sailing's Navigators.) A great indulgement in he afternoon if it is offered again. Anyone want to join me?

Christopher

We went to MK last weekend and are headed to Food and Wine Sunday. We stay away from the parks in the summer so being back there is really getting the kids (and me) excited! Anyone need me to scope out anything while I'm there?

I just got home from Mickeys not so scary party! Whoa it was packed!! And humid! We didn't get to do everything, but we were there from 6-12! Had a great time. Best parade hands down!!

My son was pinocchio and I was the blue fairy. We really enjoyed our time there. I don't know how to post a pic here, but maybe on the fb page!!

I think to post a pic you first have to upload to a photo account - like photobucket - and then you post the link here

Hey everyone - we JUST booked this cruise with FL resident rates! We couldn't pass up the amazing deal.

We're a party of 5 (possibly another stateroom to be booked with another family member).

It's myself, Amy, DH - Chris, DD - Emily (11), DD - Madison (8) and my MIL, Patti.

We mostly booked this cruise because we found out on Thursday that my MIL has terminal liver cancer. The prognosis is 6 months if we do nothing, maybe up to a year with medication, etc. So, we decided that she feels good now and we're going to take the opportunity to take her on a once-in-a-lifetime trip. We're seasoned DCL cruisers (this will make #10), but my MIL has never wanted to go...until now!!

Are there any activities happening with this group? FEs? We're probably too late, but we'd love to get involved and make this a great trip for my MIL!!

Hi Amy!!! welcome!!!!
Christopher (D73) is our organizer - he's running the roll call and organizing various meets for us (isn't it great to have someone like that on our cruise!!)

There is a meet on embarkation day at 3:15 up on deck 13 forward, i think...
i figured i'd hear the crowd and follow the noise... :)

yes, i believe you're too late for FE (i think the deadline was a week ago), but i'm not participating so i should let Christopher tell you whether it's too late or not..

Christopher just mentioned organizing another meet on castaway cay...
and also maybe another for adults later at night...

we have a facebook group - but the setting is secret....
i'll message Tricia (it's her group) to open it up so that you can ask to join the group....
you'll be able to see who we all are over there....

the link to the FB group is below, but it won't work until Tricia opens it up..

i'm very sorry to hear about your mother in law.

I'm taking this cruise with my sister and mother (my past DCL cruises were with DH, DD and DS).

My mom is a double cancer survivor (two different primary cancers) and my sister has 3 different primary cancers (small cell lung, ovarian and breast)..
she's been in a 9 year battle with cancer (she's had more than 10 surgeries, had full courses of the most brutal chemotherapy about 7 times, radiation of all sorts, etc etc).

Welcome, Amy! I just opened up the Facebook group for you!

Thanks, I just requested to join the FB group.

Gosh, I just realized that the picture that I have of my girls in my signature is SO old. That was probably from 5 years ago. I'll have to see if I can find a newer one.

Hi all! We just booked our cruise this past week and so are excited! We've cruised Carnival and RC lines countless times, but this will be only our 3rd Disney cruise. The first was years ago without children & our 2nd was this past May on Fantasy. We're a group of 7 including myself, DH, DS-5, DD-19 months, my sister and her DS-8, & DS-9. Looking forward to meeting other cruisers and hopefully helping the kids make fast friends. Would also love to join the FB group when it's open.

Thanks for the welcome from everyone! I have never booked this last minute and I'm definitely feeling out of place. We always book WAY out, so I've always been in the planning stage.

Anyway, I know that the FE signup is closed, but we have never not participated in the FEs, so I know that my kids will be disappointed. So, if anyone has any extras, I am willing to exchange with you. Send me a PM. (I do not want to put anyone out though, so if it's an inconvenience, just ignore my babbling).

Amy

you could always hide stuff in your suitcase and then put it in your own FE when your kids aren't around, pretending it's from someone else, just so your kids get something :)
