10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

Whew, I still have a lot to do. Thankfully, Alex has a 3 day weekend coming up (which, for him means, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday off) so I'm dragging him to the stores so I can get him some shirts and ties for our Palo and Semi-formal dinners. :scared1:
I also have to print out our door magnets and pick up some travel sized toiletries.
Plus, since I got married last month and moved in with Alex, none of my stuff is at our new place! We had hoped to move into a new house before the cruise, where I would've had space to bring all my things over, but that didn't work out. Therefore, sometime before next Thursday, I have to drive to my parent's house (where all my stuff is being stored) and get all my cruise clothes, suitcases, and paperwork!
I'm a little stressed, because our last weekend to get everything organized has been consumed. My younger brother's birthday is the 13th, and since Alex and I will be gone by then, we offered to celebrate it now. And, of course, he chose (as his gift) to come stay the weekend at our place. He lives about an hour away and wants to come to our place, because we're very close to the beach a very cool local zoo. So, alas, I get to play babysitter when I should be packing. :confused3
So, if I'm on here Wednesday, having a panic attack, it's because I have nothing accomplished.

I still need to pack all of us. I have a list. Our magnets are finished, I think all excursions booked (OMG I have to go double check!:scared1:) and I have all our paperwork together. I plan on packing most of everything this weekend with the last minute things on the 14th as we are driving down that afternoon. I can't WAIT!! :cheer2:

I asked Amy (Kebede) if she's gearing up and ready to go. She said that she's not even close. Said she may just have to buy clothes for everyone as they go since she is running out of time HAHA! :lmao:

LOL- I have been slowly packing since august and we are just about done. I couldn't imagine if i only had a week- i would forget everything.

we are leaving for wdw on saturday night. We hvent packed but have a list. I still have one night shift, one am shift, one cpr renewal class a birthday party for grandma at nursing facility and a birthday party at home for my aunt. Freaking out yet? Definitely! Although i dont think my fiance feels the pressure. LOL. :rotfl2:

So we're down to less than 2 weeks to go, Renee still needs to surprise her kids (and will be bringing video for us, right? :cutie:), but what else does everyone have left to do? I have 1 week to finish up the FE gfts (Yeah, those aren't going to get mailed after all!) and get packed, can't forget the travel power strip and the laundry sheets with detergent and fabrc softener in them (can't remember the brand but I already have them, just need to pack a few for us). I also need to go through my magnets and see what we're taking, don't need the ones for Ryan or Scott, and print out my confirmations for Cozumel (scuba diving) and Grand Cayman (Capt. Marvin's for stingray city!)

I packed on Friday. For the first time ever I was packed ahead of time and decided to treat myself to two, yes 2 suitcases (for one person and I guess I could say one is for FE and castmember treats). Then I woke up on Sunday morning and unpacked everything :scared1: and started over :lmao: and then this morning I found a sundress I have been looking for - who would have thought it would be hanging up in my closet :rotfl2: I am still looking for a good book. I might treat myself and buy a book at the airport! No excursions booked. Just R&R except for Key West.

:thumbsup2 I like her thinking:rotfl:

My biggest pressure right now is the homework and papers I have to get done for my 2 MBA courses before we leave next Thursday. Classes end on 10/16 and I am determined to complete everything by 10/13 so I don't have to do school work on the cruise! Haven't started packing but I have lists and a plan. Still have magnets to print and a few miscellaneous things to buy. I'm sure I will be up late before our 10/14 morning flight. Looking forward to a week of no school or work!!

Make sure you get your homework done! I had to write an exam last year when we were at WDW! It was not fun studying or writing on vacation :sad2:

Thanks! Good advice. I see many late nights between now and next Friday when we leave! I don't know how you concentrated on vacation! I'm very motivated to complete everything before we leave.

Suggestion for another DISmeet and photo op - I would love to get a group photo on Pirate Night! pirate: Are many of us getting dressed up? I have a pirate hat and wench top. I packed a few extra pirate hats cause I couldn't decide which one to wear, they are cheap (dollar store) and they are light:rotfl2:

I am soooooo excited!

Yep, we are bringing piratical couture, too. I need to hit the Halloween stores to get some accessories.

That would be a fun picture!pirate:

Depending on what you like, I'd recommend the Hunger Games, but if you're going to get that one, get the second one too (Catching Fire), it's really good, I think I plowed through it in a day!

All Pirates here, too! I second Hunger Games or if you are looking for just a single read (not trilogy) go for "Juliet" by Anne Fortier. Is REALLY an excellent read. It has everything.

Still have left to do? Everything! Still not even close to finished with our FE gifts. Still figuring out everything we're bringing. Still not booked excursions. This what I currently look like.. LOL

Dont worry - your not alone :scared1:

I read "The Hunger Games" trilogy. Absolutely loved it! I was looking at "Juliet" the other day, so thats being considered. I am never without a book (or two). I mainly get books from my library so its a treat for me to buy a book. I have read "The Help" and seen the movie. Liked both a lot. Maybe its time for a smutty harlequin romance  I have a Nelson DeMille packed but I find I have to pay attention to what I am reading with his books :lmao:

That's probably the smartest way to do it. Now, next week when we're all running around like chickens with our heads cut off, you'll be sitting back and relaxing, basking in the pre-cruise excitement. :lmao:

Alex and I were supposed to dress up for Pirates night, but we ran out of time. We don't even have all our regular outfits yet! :scared1: So, I'm just going to wear a Pirates of the Caribbean shirt I bought at WDW last spring. So, I'm going to bow out of the photo, but if I'm around when you guys want it, I'll be glad to take the pictures for you all.

The Hunger Games was a great trilogy, and I agree with you about DeMille...too much thought involved for a cruise!
I'm bringing a bunch of easy-reads on the cruise. Mainly, because my idea of relaxing is sitting on a deck chair, reading, so a portion my suitcase will be consumed by novels. :sad2: I'm bringing a bunch of books I don't have to concentrate too hard on. Book 3 in the Mortal Instruments series, a couple romances, a Nicholas Sparks book, and a Dean Koontz novel.
(So, if you repeatedly see someone on the At Sea days with a different book a day, that'll be me. :rotfl:)

That's why I love that my husband got me a Kindle for Mother's day in 2010! I'm just bringing my "precious" with about 70 books on it. Now, I've read them all, note to self, get a new book today or tomorrow for the flight...

We will be pirates for pirate night and I think a pic would be cool.

As far as books go, I'll be bringing my nook and I do have some books on there I have been waiting to read for the cruise (it's hard to wait) I just finished the game of throne series, well at least the ones that are out, very good.

Has anyone read any Cindy Miles or Elle Jasper books? They are pretty good and I would recommend them to anyone who likes romance. (I just happened to have worked with Cindy and promised if she ever got published, I would read all her books and I like them-considering I am not a big romance book type of person)

So since we are going on the cruise, we are not going to WDW this year:sad1: and I am going to miss it, but on the bright side we are going on our first Disney Cruise!:cool1:

I have debated getting a Nook, but I worry I won't use it enough to get my money's worth out of it. I'm still really old-fashioned and love going to the library and checking out books. :confused3

I was a little bummed about missing Disney days, as well, but the closer the cruise gets, the more excited I am about trying something new. I have a feeling that once we're on the ship and all the activities are underway, our WDW woes will wash away. :thumbsup2
