10/15/2011 - Taking the West by Magic!

Here's a tip for all of you first timer cruisers. If you want to keep your Navigators for a scrapbook, or just a souvenir, and can't figure out how to keep them nice and still get to and see everything you want, you can pick up and extra Navigator for the day at Guest Services, or ask your stateroom host/hostess the night before when they're distrbuting them for an extra!

That's a good tip. I also plan on taking something like an accordian folder (I don't know what they're really called) to keep photos, navigators, ect. flat and uncrushed in my luggage :goodvibes

If you buy photos from Shutters, they give them to you in a nice heavy posterboard folder, unfortunately, it's not quite big enough to hold the Navigators too if I remember right (8"x10" vs. 8 1/2"x11") so good thought on keeping your Navigators flat too! I usually just lay them flat at the bottom of my suitcase or put them in my laptop backpack in the section for papers.

So, I just ordered our MNSSHP tickets, and she told me the party starts at 7 pm and they would possibly start letting us in at 6-6:30 (she told me this because I plan on picking them up from will call).

So, do they really let you in at 4pm? Is this an "unadvertised" time? I don't want to show up with the kids 3 hours early and not be able to get in. :confused3

Thanks :goodvibes

That's still the word on the Theme Parks board, we plan on getting there around 4:00, if we can't get in, no problem, we'll go find somewhere to have dinner, and then go back.

I think that's what we will do as well. I'll have to remind my kids that we will be *trying* to get in a little early, but it may not work...just so they won't get their hopes up.

You know, the kids have known about this trip from the beginning, but I think they have forgotten because of the move...or at least they don't realize how close we are. I'm trying to keep everything low key now and plan on waking them up the morning we leave and asking them whether or not they want to go to school that day or hop on a plane bound for Orlando! ;)

OK, so do I for any reason need to pack a insect repellent for this trip.

Trust me, if there is a mosquito within close proximity to my family, someone will get bitten :confused3

Thanks for the tip! That's really smart, because I definitely keep souvenir things like that. I'll also have to remember to bring a highlighter; I can see that coming in handy. :thumbsup2

When I called to book our room and MNSSHP party tickets, the CM I got was very friendly. She gave me all these tips for the party, and when I asked what time I should show up to Will Call, she kept saying, "Well, officially the party begins at 7, but when I went last Friday, I just happened to show up at 4."

I asked her again, just to be sure, and she kept stressing Disney's "official" arrival time, because that's what she had was required to say, but from the hints I got, it'll be all right if you and your family arrive at 4.

You'll be fine on the ship, but in Orlando, you may want to have some repellent. Maybe some travel wipes? That way once you're done with Orlando you don't have to lug it all over.

I noticed the Port of Key West changed the port time for the Magic to 1:00 am, and sure enough according to Marine Traffic it is pulling out right now.

I think this makes it a little less likely that we will get the bonus time in KW. I wonder how much one could take advantage of the extra time assuming that you would need to go back aboard for dinner.

GO AT 4:00! We have been like 4 times and always go early! Don't worry, you can get in early! It is GREAT!

Have fun...I wish we could go with you guys. When do you fly out?

Also. one of my friends mentioned the cruise in front of Tyler...I think he knows. :-(....but he doesn't know when we are going. He hasn't said anything...so not totally sure he heard her, but pretty sure. :headache:

Oh well....Ashley will go crazy!

Oh, I'm sorry. :sad1: Maybe he's not saying anything, because he doesn't want to get his hopes up just in case it's not true. :confused3

You'd be surprised at how oblivious kids can be. Plus, remember, he's a teenager, so if it's not about food, or girls, he probably isn't paying attention! :rotfl:

Awww think of it this way "IF" he knows and hasn't said anything - I think its sweet that he wants his sister to be suprised and for you to try and surprise them both!!

So we're down to less than 2 weeks to go, Renee still needs to surprise her kids (and will be bringing video for us, right? :cutie:), but what else does everyone have left to do? I have 1 week to finish up the FE gfts (Yeah, those aren't going to get mailed after all!) and get packed, can't forget the travel power strip and the laundry sheets with detergent and fabrc softener in them (can't remember the brand but I already have them, just need to pack a few for us). I also need to go through my magnets and see what we're taking, don't need the ones for Ryan or Scott, and print out my confirmations for Cozumel (scuba diving) and Grand Cayman (Capt. Marvin's for stingray city!)

Still have left to do? Everything! Still not even close to finished with our FE gifts. Still figuring out everything we're bringing. Still not booked excursions. This what I currently look like.. LOL

My biggest pressure right now is the homework and papers I have to get done for my 2 MBA courses before we leave next Thursday. Classes end on 10/16 and I am determined to complete everything by 10/13 so I don't have to do school work on the cruise! Haven't started packing but I have lists and a plan. Still have magnets to print and a few miscellaneous things to buy. I'm sure I will be up late before our 10/14 morning flight. Looking forward to a week of no school or work!!
