No clue. I just heard on the news today that Julia Roberts is going to be on broadway next year. I like her but no real desire to see her on Broadway.
I agree and am surprised at this. I'll be curious to see what she'll be in.

Yes,
Last week I ran 1:47 hours on the treadmill during the Formula One race and lost about 2 kilos (4.4lbs) in that time QUOTE]

YOWSA! 1:47 Hours? I get tired just thinking about it! :worship:

This week's race is in Hungary, which is a so-called 'Mickey-Mouse-Course', meaing that it's just a cluster of curves. THis leads to low avearge speeds resulting in a race of nearly two hours. Add 10 minutes for warm-up and 10 for cool-down and you come to a running time of 2:15. Unfortunately Anja has to work this weekend and so we can't be in the gym for the race, but we will run 45 minutes in the morning and pump iron for an hour before a late breakfast.
I have to admit that I've never run more than 15 miles during a race, but perhaps will tackle a marathon in the next years. But to run a marathon in less than 4 hours would require me to shed at least another 5 kilos (11lbs), which needs some time as I want to do it without losing any muscle mass.

Yes Jeanne,
I could have used John's skills yesterday. First it felt like it hit the eyeball directly (Bull's eye, so to say :rotfl: ), but the bruise I have around my eye is a sure sign that the flesh and bone took most of it. The eye not even became red. Nevrtheless it hurt like hell and I saw stars and little Tweety-birds for some time ;) But I can call myself lucky: It was one of those bottles with a lift-off cap, like you used to have in the US many years ago before the screw-off lids. So you know that it has more than a dozen sharp protrusions on the perimeter. It obviously hit me perfectly flat or otherwise it would have slashed my eye :scared1:

I just have to laugh! Here Eric is trying to tackle a marathon, and all I can think about is whether or not I can tackle the last of the Oreos! :rotfl:

Eric...also sorry to hear about your eye! Ouch! I hope it heals fast!

Well, I better finish packing for tomorrow! The boys are of NO help today and I seem to have no motivation either. See you Wednesday!

Michelle:
How 'bout I join you with the Oreo's and we both watch Eric exercise! Good luck with the packing.....have a great vacation!

Great. Now I need to go buy a pack of Oreos when I get out of work today. And they're like potato chips...you can't eat just one. ;)

he he he! Mint are good, as are the peanut butter ones, but there is nothing like good ol' double stuff and a glass of milk! mmmmmm. That is what I craved when I was pregnant for Colton. Connor was BBQ Chicken wings! Can you tell how much packing I am getting done? Actually, the clothes are packed, the house is in so-so shape and there are just a few loads of wash to finish up. Time to call out for pizza! Never cook the night before traveling!

Gals,
I'm gonna drag you into the gym on the ship :maleficen
Or you can sit on Deck 4 and check the time Anja and I need for a lap around the ship. It's 400m/a quartermile and we do that in 2.5 minutes when we do a leisurely run, in 2 flat when we work out, and when we really want to know it in 1.5.
In the last weeks I did interval training once a week. This means runníng an hour with alternating speeds. I switch between 500m powerwalking at 4.5mph and 1km at 7.5mph for an hour, but for the last five minutes I increase the speed to 9mph for three minutes, 10mph for one minute, and finally up to 13mph for the last minute. My pulse usually exceeds 200 slightly during that final dash - and Anja usually is afraid that the treadmill will break down :teeth: After a 10 minute cooldown on the treadmill my pulse is back in the two-digit range. And it's a great feeling to have a nice, long, cold shower afterwards.
But I tell ya: Those last meters at topspeed really hurt. According to my heart rate monitor this routine burns about 1200 kilocalories - That's a big pack of Oreos

And then you'll have to drag me to the ships medic! :earboy2:
I am TERRIBLY out of shape...well, round IS a shape, so I am A shape, just not a healthy one! I am hoping that with the adoption of our puppy, it will encourage..no that's not the word...FORCE us to take walks and get out of the house. I usually don't sit around, I have plenty to do, I just LOVE to eat!

Arlene: We also have not seen "Wicked"....I thought it would be easier to get tickets now that that Espinosa lady (Medina?) is no longer there. Do you know who took over her role?

I just saw Wicked on Broadway on July 9th, and it was awesome! I had 3rd row left center orchestra seats. What you need to do is set up an email alert with Ticketmaster to advise you when tickets go on sale. Then call the day they go on sale, the minute the phone lines open up. I think the last alert I got was tickets were going on sale for April 2006!

Shoshana Bean played Elphaba and her voice was one that sent chills through you. Megan Hilty played Glinda and was also very good.

I would reccommend this show to anyone, it was fabulous! Two weeks later we saw Sweet Charity with Christina Applegate and it paled in comparison. However after seeing Wicked, I think nothing could compare!

Eric, amazing the amount of running you do! That is great! I just recently started a walking program and am having all sorts of trouble with blisters. I'm now on my 3rd new pair of sneakers. Something tells me it's not my sneakers, it is how out of shape I am. But I hope by this cruise I will be right out there running with all of you! Not one morsel of sweets has passed my lips in over one month  It's finally working :goodvibes

I'm hoping that maybe we can catch a matinee performance of something when we're up in October. Those are usually easier to come by. Speaking of October......HELLO, PETER!.....what are the actual evenings we should plan to stay in the city? Monday is John's busiest day so we probably have to leave Sunday evening, but is everyone planning to arrive Friday or Saturday?
My son in LA is very seriously thinking about returning to NY. He does not like the Hollywood scene and all his good work has been coming from NY lately. If he moves to Brooklyn, he can give up the car and still have easy access to the city. He'll be working on a new show for MTV this fall (something about cooking with rock stars?!?) and if it takes off, he'll definitely move back. I, for one, would be very pleased if he moved back since not only would he be closer to us (and in the same time zone!) but we'd have an excuse to make more frequent trips into the city. Hubby thinks he should stick it out in Hollywood a little longer, but I can't see being miserable if you have other opportunities. Finding an affordable place to live near the city is going to be an adventure. When DH and I first got married, he had just begun med school and so we were eligible for low-income housing. (Actually, we didn't even make that threshold, but they liked us and classified some of his scholarship money as income so we could qualify.) We had a brand new 1-bedroom apt on the upper east side of Manhattan for
$180/month! I'm afraid those days are gone forever.

Any news on Art and Cathy? :confused3

Worked today, but tomorrow is a off day. :goodvibes I have a sudden craving for Oreos. :flower:

Later,
Avé

Haven't heard anything so far, Ave :confused3
Pennsylvanians,
we need infos :wave2:

Art and Cathy called me yesterday. Art is doing well. Cathy is feeling better now that he is home. Art just has to have some blood work done every three months. He said that he is sore, but is doing well.

Met Rosemary and Rich this afternoon. We did a quick tour of Nashville and had some dinner at the Cracker Barrel. We had a nice visit.

Be sure to "drag" a Deck 4 lounge chair into the gym for me, too. And I call dibs on that big pack of Oreos--double stuffed. I'll even bring the milk. :rotfl2:
