Yes, I may have an announcement soon.......I just wish they would go ahead and schedule the freaking inspection so I can feel it's a done deal! I am so hoping to be able to schedule that mini-trip to the Polynesian!
Does that mean that I won't have any real estate advertisments in the CruzLetter :rotfl2:
You'd better make sure that those inspectors don't bring any detectors being able to find buried saints :rotfl:

OK ... It's Friday and I've had it, stick me with a fork, I'm done ... get me out of this office already.  (Love this little guy)

Loved Survivor last night .... again some of them are knuckleheads, some pretty boys, some glamor girls, some worker bees and some "whatever". I think one of the things I like the best is seeing a nice warm beach with nice clear blue water. ? If you are smart enough to be able to get your boat over to the flag and win the immunity, how come you let the darned thing flip over when you weren't racing the clock! Now you left an island where you had sweat equity building the shelter, you knew where there was drinkable water and you had a machette to help get food to go somewhere you had noshelter, no drinkable water, no machette to get food and you loose the darned flint to make fire. DUH ... now here you are soaking wet, shivering and thirsty when the loosers are snug as a bug in a rug with water to wet your whistle.
OK it must be me!

Have a nice weekend everybody.

HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY SARAH!!

Folks,
Edition #7 of our List is in your mailboxes - Check it ou.
Deb,
you got two mails as I also sent you our history.

I found time this morning as I spontaneously decided not to drive to the office after picking up Anja from her nightshift at the hospital. We had about four to five inches of snow tonight and after seeing three totalled cars on the 8 miles to the hospital I considered staying at home as the smart alternative :earboy2: Especially as I weren't able to drive faster than 45 -50 mph for the whole ride and the Autobahn leading to my office goes downhill in several curves for about 4 miles. So I guess I'll have to do some overtime next week, but that's better than totalling our nice little convertible ;)
BTW,
I picked it up at the shop yesterday because they had to repair the roof-mechanism, which was covered by warranty. But I also had them replace a bulb of one of the headlamps. I could have done it by myself, but it was in the shop anyway and it saved me some dirty fingers. I was surprised by the bill for it: €0.75 (About $1). I guess they wanted to make a statement of perfect service as our car will be three years old in June and they would like to sell us a new one. As the model we're driving right now just got a facelift and will soon be available with a 110hp diesel doing about 40 mpg, this might be a possibility. I spoke to the salesperson and she promised to give me a call as soon as she has the new diesel available for a testdrive. Diesel and convertible doesn't sound like a good combination soundwise, but the new commonrail-engines are unbeliebaly quiet. And this little 110hp, 1.6 litre Diesel has as much torque as a 2.8 litre gas-engine, which makes it a great choice for cruising with lots of passing power.

Hey everyone.

Mary Jo--it's so great to hear from you. I'm so sorry you have to deal with the cr*p at work. I'll keep you all in my prayers.

Bette--I'm glad your surgery went well. I hope the gas has dissipated. I know that was probably the worst part of my surgery last month. It lasted 2-1/2 days.

I'm officially "running away". I'm heading out the door in a few minutes to visit my brother in Green Bay. The kids are with Dad, and I'm off work on Monday. So they're staying with a neighbor Sunday nite & the neighbor will make sure they get off of school.

I plan to do NOTHING--except the Daytona 500, of course!!!! (I can't wait!) Have a great weekend, and I'll be back on Monday nite or Tuesday.

Marianne

Sorry, I haven't been here too much. There's a lot of activity on my August Repo thread (right Tracy?) so it's hard to get to other places to read.

Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH!!!!!!  :cheer2: :cheer2: :bday: :bday: :bday: :cake: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Sarah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Marianne, Have a WONDERFUL weekend away! I am jealous!

Eric, sounds like a sweet little ride! What kind of car is it? We are sort of car junkies...gearheads...in this house. We have a Chevy Avalanche that we belong to a car club with. We have a lot of fun going to get togethers with the friends we have made and modifying the trucks to personalize them. We also have a GMC Yukon XL Denali that we have modified as well! The only thing that would stop me from getting a soft top diesal in the smell! Of course, you might have a better exhaust on it so that won't be an issue. Also, I keep saying I am going to sit down and send you family info, but I just haven't done it! I will try this weekend...although it will be late for this newsletter....sorry.

Have a great weekend all!!

Michele,
our car is a Peugeot 206CC, a little French convertible with a retractable hardtop like the Mercedes SLK, but a bit more affordable and a bit more roomy as it is a 2 plus 2. Ours has a 2.0 litre 16 valve inline four with 136hp. It does 0-60mph in about 8.5 seconds, topspeed is about 135mph, mileage between 25 and 30mpg. It's fully loaded with rainsensing wiper, automatic headlights, GPS, CD-player, power windows, remote-controlled power locks, automatic retractable roof, fully automatic a/c, heated leather seats, 16'' alloys, etc. Here's a link to the manufacturer's UK homepage: Peugeot UK
I thought you might prefer that to the French or German site :earboy2:
We just passed 50,000 kilometers on the odo (~30,000) miles and think about trading it for the new model equipped with a Diesel-engine for better fuel economy. Premium gas with 95 Octane is about €1.10 per litre over here ($5.40 per gallon), Diesel is only €.86. Add the better mileage of the Diesel (40mpg) and it's easy to see that we can save a lot of money at the pump. I'll just have to check out the sound of the engine. A friend of mine just bought a Peugeot Station Wagon with the same engine and it is unbelievably quiet, but in a convertible with the top down it may be different. Our salesperson expects the car to be available for a test ride in April. If we like it, we would order it to be delivered in June - After some heavy bargaining of course :teeth: We're in the best position for a good deal: We don't need a new car, but they have to sell, because the market is very slow right now pirate: I expect at least 10% and some options for free - Like GPS and a CD-changer.

Michele,
the smell shouldn't be a problem, Peugeot was the first manufacturer attaching a filter to the exhaust system, eliminating all particle emissions. The only situation where diesel smell really is bothersome is fueling the car, but as most pumps are equipped with a suction device this usually isn't a problem. And most diesel drivers have a special glove in the trunk, which is used for handling the nozzle thus preventing smelling hands. And over here you don't have to share the pump with the trucks (like Kenworth or Freightliner), usually all pumps deliver Regular (91 Octane), Premium (95 Octane), Ultimate (100 Octane), Regular Diesel, and Ultimate Diesel.
And our EPA grants a $350 tax reduction for buying a car with such a filter, which translates to about 17 months tax-free driving.

50,000 kms Eric? That's hardly broken in really. My poor van (a June 2001 baby) just passed the 170,000 km mark! We obviously drive a lot but it's been to the east coast once and then to Florida 3 times (or is that 4?) One reason we flew this past visit to WDW was the number of kms on the van -- it has to last at least til the darn thing's paid off.

Couldn't imagine paying the gas prices that you do Eric and I think ours are bad at 80 cents/litre.

Mary Jo - One thing about Sarah getting her licence is that you may never see her (or the car). Since DS got his (finally) he's never home and neither is the car (which isn't so bad because he drives my mother's car not my van). He's home (?) for the weekends but we rarely see him and he's out "chilling" with his friends. This weekend he's actually been reasonable, knock on wood, so the "attitude" is obviously taking a break.

Going to a dismeet in Hamilton tomorrow which should be fun. There's supposed to be around 27 of us so it could be interesting.

Must go let the dog back in -- it's too cold even for her!

Fiona

Fiona,
we traded our last car in at 90,000km after six years. In the last years business has been very bad for the car manufacturers and importers and so the dealerships are very willing to offer good deals. Additionally there are very low interest rates available. And as we don't NEED a new car, we are in the best bargaining position imaginable :teeth: If there's no good offer, we simply leave and go to the next dealership or keep our car.

It is always better to be in the position of not needing a new car when you are bargaining about it that's for sure. We have low and 0% financing here at the moment but am not prepared to get a new car yet and there's really no reason to as my van is still in excellent shape regardless of the amount of kms that it has. Besides which, I don't want my insurance to go up either even though we might get a rate decrease because the insurance companies here in Ontario just made an huge profit.

Fiona

Good Morning Everyone !!! :wave2:

Just a quick post to say THANKS :love1: ....I really feel pretty good not a lot of pain...but so glad to have everything over with.....

Again,thank-you for all your caring, prayers, and "get betters"

Hugs,
Bette

Bette so glad to see you posting again. Get well soon and have a smooth voyage on the Magic.

Eric good luck on the the car dealings.

It is raining here again for the 3rd Sunday in a row, although I prefer the rain to the white stuff (snow). We have a daffodil that is blooming and the trees are starting to bud out. Mike :cheer2:

Good to see you posting again, Bette  :cheer2: :wave2:

Fiona,
I can second that about you van being in great shape. I wouldn't have thought that it already has circled the planet four times. I also think that 170,000 km in North America are less straining on a car than over here due to your strict speed limits.

Mike,
we had 5 inches of snow yesterday, but now there's nearly nothing left of it. Unfortunately it seems as if spring still needs some time.

Bette -

I'm so glad to see you on the boards, and I'm glad to hear that you're doing better too.
