10/1/21 (Planning thread for those w/ Magic Kingdom ressies on the BIG 50th)!

6 am EST is when it opens online.
I've seen it listed at 5:45a - so I'll be up by then.
But at this point, I'd rather pack a lunch than try to deal with the QS lines. If you've been in the parks for Christmas or New Years - I'll never forget seeing people quequed up for the Liberty Square Market in a line that went way past the Hall of Presidents. And there was no place to sit at all, just people standing in place eating. Ugh.
Afraid to leave the park for a return after 2p with the Park Hoppers coming in! So need a Sit down reservation to take a darn break. Wish we knew what time fireworks would be.

How early are you staking out your spot for fireworks?

My ADR date is tomorrow. I hope I can get a TS reservation. What time did everyone get online to make reservations?
I had the specific restaurant page open for each place so I could search for times direct from there at 6 AM EST.

As of right now, Be Our Guest, Skipper Canteen, and Liberty Tree Tavern all have later evening (past 7 PM) openings.

I'm more nervous, as well. I saw it opens online around 5:45 am, too. Of course, it will probably crash. I'll give it a shot, but agree cancellations will occur. I was wondering about stalking a claim for fireworks, also. I know it will need to be done early. We were there during Christmas and an announcement was made about the hub being full so don't move.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah; you guys are making me very nervous. My window doesn't open until Sunday :(
Don’t be nervous, be persistent! I have been having internet issues all week, so I am operating at about half speed. I got up at six, and there were plenty of openings on the first, but I kept timing out due to my Internet problems. Although I didn’t get my ADRs locked in until 11:00, I did get my first choice in each park. Also, people do change their minds all the time, so even if you have to go with your second or third choice first time around, keep trying. Good luck!

I'm sure since we have park reservations we should be guaranteed a spot in the park after 2. They could just close park hopping that day but maybe that's idealistic.

Do you want a 7 pm reservation? That might interfere with fireworks. I'm concerned about leaving the park and not be let back in. Only up side I see is new fireworks at Epcot that evening. They need to give us planners more details.

I actually booked 2 sit down meals for Oct 1 (lunch and dinner) just to be sure we will have a place to eat without having to stand in a crazy line for QS or possibly being shut out of QS due to mobile orders. We never do 2 TS meals but figured better safe than sorry....we may end up dropping one at some point, we'll see. I also wanted to make sure we didn't have a later dinner because I'm sure there will be a lot of people getting spots extra early for fireworks.

If someone could check, how do reservation times look for Crystal Palace or The Plaza? Interested in lunch. Please and thank you.

Here's for 4 people....of course every time you click on a time it changes (at first it only showed me BOG) so who knows?! lol

For people going to MK on 10/1, are you planning to park hop at all on that day, or are you just doing MK? What’s the plan for the next day? Epcot for Ratatouillle?

We’re intentionally avoiding Epcot on 10/2 because I feel like everyone and their mother will be doing what you said and Saturday Food & Wine crowds on top of that will make it miserable imo. We plan to walk to the Studios that morning instead, do Rise and a couple of headliners then leave for a breakfast ADR (hoping for Topalino’s or failing that Cape May), and chill the rest of the day. Since we will be at the Dolphin we made a spa appointment at Mandara and will nap/pool the rest of the day. If we go back it’ll be solely for fireworks and we’ll be able to get out with relative ease given our Crescent Lake location. We will not be hitting Epcot in earnest until 10/3 (well besides our arrival day 9/30) since we switch resorts to the Poly that day. Now that they announced the deluxe EMH we will probably be hopping there on 10/4 to take advantage of that.

We'd already had park passes for Epcot for the 4th - and good luck that now it's one of the new Extra Evening hours and we'll have just moved rooms to Animal Kingdom. We're hitting HS on the 2nd, hoping the crowds are not mad.

I have MK for 10/1 and for some reason, I had at first thought about hopping to Epcot for part of the afternoon, but now I’m pretty sure I’ll stay at MK all day. I like to avoid the herd, so wasn’t necessarily going to do Epcot on 10/2, but then since everyone else was apparently going to Epcot, I decided, well maybe I should do it too. I was drawn to it by its scarcity. That’s very contrary to my usual way of doing things. I’m glad to see what other people plans and thought process are so I can better weigh the options.

I might try for two TS, not a bad idea. I just planned to mobile order my meal at park open. I plan to avoid all parks over the weekend.
