1/10/09- EARLY Roll Call! Who's coming?

It was just announced on mousesavers that some offer is coming on Dec. 10th. There is also a thread on the main board.

And lucky you guys who got the upgrades! Wow!!!

Duhhh.....I was actually upgraded from a 12 to a 9....didn't realize deck 1 was a cat 9 oceanview.....I guess I feel a little better but not sure about the deck 1 thing......anyone ever sail on deck 1????

I've read trip reports/room reports about deck 1 and most people speak positively about deck 1. What's nice about the upgrade is that we'll have a split bath, and you will too.

Jonathan, a room host, cleans on deck 1, so if he's your host, tell him I (Janet) said hi. He knows Carla and I are crusiing. Now for another DCL magical story: Jonathan was our room host 2 years ago when Dave and I were on the Magic. Almost a year later, my DD and her DH were on the Magic. She had a pic of Dave, her DD and me on their dresser. About day 2, Jonathan (who was their room host) asked her if that was "Mrs. Janet"!!! On our October 2008 cruise, on the last night we were walking off the aft elevators onto deck 3, when I heard "Mrs. Janet". I turned around and there he was!!!! DCL has amazing CMs.

I am not jealous, I am not jealous, I am not jealous!!!!! Congrats to all who got upgrades!

So, if the deals mean that our cabins are now cheaper, we'll get a credit - right? I booked through DU and I keep hearing of people getting credits. I hope this is true!!!

That thread on the main board is hilarious. Personally I hope they offer buy a cruise, get a land vacation free. We talked about doing that anyway using the buy 4, get 3 deal. My kids like the "zipline to the boat" idea!!

Dh is just rolling his eyes. I had to twist his arm to get him to do a Disney cruise in the first place! We've been to Disney twice this year alread and he was ready for a different plan for next year. He told me to pick and book a cruise and I did!!! :rotfl: So, Mickey will be with us! Actually, I think he's looking forward to it.

I know what it is! They said "it hasn't been done on Disney", now because of the declining economy, you can "adopt or foster" your favorite character. For your monthly donation, you will receive an autographed photo of said character, a postcard on your birthday and a Christmas card during the holidays, AND if you book a cruise and are a "platinum sponsor", you will get to have a private breakfast and/or dinner with your character. :woohoo:

I really think its going to be 3 free nights on land with transfers before or after your cruise. And I am also guessing it will be for cruises from feb-onwards. Otherwise they will have so many phone calls to deal with from people who are booked demanding their 3 free nights and have to deal with all of that in the next 4 weeks.....

OK, I finally have a few minutes after plowing snow for the past 2 hours! Does anyone know how the onboard KTTW charging system works? I completed our online check-in the other day and did not give the kids charging privileges, but I thought I heard that you can put some cash on their KTTW cards so they can charge within that limit. Is that the case? It would be kind of nice to give them a lesson in responsibility with minimal risk.

peacekeeper - I remember reading that too. I was going to give each of my kids $20 or so for the arcade or whatever. I'd imagine that's something we have to do when we get there. I bet if you post on the general board, you'd get answers!

Did you see the other thread? Sounds like the offer is going to be a child discount. That would be SO awesome for us as we have FOUR kids! Anyone know how many rooms are still available for our cruise? I hope it applies to ours! I also hope it's retroactive or I'll cancel and rebook.

I thought I read somewhere you had to give them full charging priveleges for them to use even $20 - could be wrong though.
I gave my daughter charging priv, but she is 12 and also not the type to abuse it. I am going to allow her $20/day and I doubt she will even spend that.

There's a strong rumor that a new "Kids Sail FREE" offer for Disney cruises will be released on December 10. Reportedly this offer will be for 3-night sailings only, 1/22/09 - 5/28/09 in Category 4-12 staterooms. Children 12 and under will sail FREE in the same cabin with two paying adults. More details when the offer is released.

This is from Mouse Savers. Thanks for the charging info. I was most concerned with them misplacing their KTTW!

Pirate Adventure Event: "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend Lives On"

Book passage aboard the Disney Wonder® for March 8-12, 2009 and meet and greet actors from The Pirates of the Caribbean films during a special event. Set sail across the blue waters that salty sea dogs made famous and explore the lore with motion picture pirates!

I would love to but just to much cruising.......not really. Sailing HAL in April, don't think I could be gone that long.

Yea. I'm still waiting for the "big" news. A discount for a three day cruise just doesn't seem like much, KWIM? For my family to take a vacation that far away, we're going to go away longer than three days. Bummer. I was really hoping I'd be able to add on a land stay after this cruise.

Okay - I just found where I saw that you can add certain amounts of cash to your kids' KTTW cards. This year's Passporter on page 72, "Cruising with kids? You can give them full charging privileges, deny them any charge privileges, or place a limited amount of cash on their account. Whatever you decide, you can make changes later at the Guest Services desk on deck 3 midship."

HTH!!

Well, the BIG promo is kids sail free on 3 night wonder sailings from 1/22-5/28, here is the link.

Hardly a deal for those of us who travel a good distance down to the port. Definitely not worth booking airfare for. :confused3 I can see it being good for someone who can just pop down and take a cruise.

Might be decent for those who are taking an extended vacation at WDW and then pop down for a cruise.

This discount was so hyped by Disney that I think most people are disappointed. Oh well. At least I'm on the boat in a month!!! But, I don't think we'll be cruising with Disney for a long time again. The other cruise lines are coming out with such great deals right now that they'll be hard to pass up when compared to Disney's prices.

I've been hanging out here WAY too much - I feel like I'm dominating this board! I've needed to take it easy for the last few days with the stomach flu. Ugh.

Anyway, question for those of you who have cruised Disney before. I posted this on the main board too - hoping for a large number of responses! Here it is:
______________
I'm a VERY organized person (that's why I LOVE these boards!!). I need to know exactly what I need to do when I get on the ship and I know things will be much smoother because of it! So, here's my list so far:

Get tickets for Mad Hatter Tea Party (where do I do this?)
Grab "All Aboard" navigator @GS
Spa Tour
Put money on kids' KTTW cards (where do I do this?)
Eat lunch (where is the best place to do this?)
1:30 - go to room
3 pm - Dis meet!!
3:30 - Safeth Drill
4:15 - Sail Away party
Get dressed for dinner (put our dressy clothes in carry on in case luggage doesn't make it - right?)

I think that's it! Is there anything else that's a must do? How do I sign up for the martini/margarita/anything alcohol related testing? (Really, I'm not a lush!)
