09/28/2002 Cruise

Mary we have our laynards from last year. Went trolling today with Katie at the mall and caught quite a few. Kathy made me throw them all back;) Caught girls from 18 to 80:p

Hope that all is well with everyone and it is getting harder to endure the wait. Mike

Welcome JELLYMOON, sorry about the roll. Must be my low blood sugar. Trying to get ready for a bathing suit, you know!:(
Oower. Love that line..."Because I can". Will use that in the future. ;) Hang in there everyone, less then six weeks to go.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Hey Ave...I'M GOING IN LESS THEN 5 WEEKS!

I feel sorry for the people who don't "get" Disney. I always feel like I get an awful lot of vacation for my $. The kids are happy, DH is happy, I'm happy. It is very simpley the PERFECT vacation for us. There is always something new to see and do. I personally could go on Spaceship Earth 10 times at each visit!I could see the parade, and fireworks evey night, and the kids would ride on Buzz Lightyear all day!
We bought into DVC in 99 after our first cruise, and it is the one bill I NEVER mind paying!I think of it as my "vacation fund". Since DH and I both work full time, vacations with our children are a VERY high priority for us. And Disney gives us all everything we want. We do other things throughout the year, but our BIG vacation every year has been and will contiue to be,either WDW or DCL.

Before my Dad passed on and we moved my Mom to Indiana, our vacations (with very few exceptions) were always trips back to upstate NY. No complaints from us because (1) we love my parents dearly and (2) upstate New York!!!!!!!!! Although I miss upstate New York more than words could ever describe - it does give us the time and money to go other places now. And my Mom deserves to be treated well!! (You guys are just going to love her - she is the sweetest person in the world!)

So when someone says to me, "Ohhh, Disney? The expense!!?" I tell them, "Well, my family and I are worth whatever we decide to spend on ourselves!" These are the same people who are in our financial arena and spend their money on other things -

I agree completely with the comment "Disney? Why not?!"

Still haven't seen any Indiana State Quarters - but I'll keep trying!Let's hope I have better luck with them than the Brunch reservations for all of us!

Okay all you DVC people, you've got me interested. I just requested info from the website today. Would someone please give me a little insight on it? You can email me if you don't want to post it here -- fan4favre@yahoo.com. How is it different from the other timeshare prospects? I've went on those tours before but never bought. Any info will be appreciated.

One day closer...

Kimber

Two more questions--

I know I've seen it posted--what is the show schedule for us? Just trying to make plans for Palo's etc... Also, since I have DD10 and DS5 I probably will have PLAP rotation, correct? I know there is no guarantee of that, but isn't that the usual with my age children?

Hopefully no more questions tonight.

Kimber

Well, asking about DVC membership & discussing "Disney Again?" has been interesting. Guess there will be NO NEED for a Disney "twelve step" program with this group. Good thing!!

How about ESCARGOTS? Yummy or U-GOTTA-BE-NUTS?

Rellingtwin - One of my absolute favorites is "Muppett Show"...
Not sure that we have ever gone to WDW that I have not made Chrystina go to it. With Chrystina - it's the parades & fireworks!

By the way, if you have not eaten at the Italian restaurant (???) behind the Muppett Show exit, MUST DO!

There's another question begging an answer! - Favorite Eatery?
Just to get your tastebuds salivating for the MAGIC shrimp! :p

Finally, for all you Disney trivia folks - What color are the Seven Dwarfs eyes?

Hi Everyone,

Just got back from taking DS #2 to college. Long day 4 hour drive out, drop off everything (had to go up 4 flights no elevator) and get him settled, and then 4 hour drive back. Little emotional on my part as we are leaving. He seems happy and has nice roommate. Now DS#1 is packing his things and loading them in the van. Shorter drive tomorrow 2 hours each way.

As for DVC, we bought in Feb 1993. At that time there was only OKW. We had been pulling our travel trailer down every year to stay at FW prior to buying. In Feb we took a short trip down and stayed at Dixie Landing and saw the information on the TV. We never hooked the TV in the camper up to the cable, had we done that we probably would have bought in June 1992. Anyway we took the tour and bought right then. The next year we added on more points. We were one of the lucky ones who got the free park tickets. We then sold the travel trailer, went down into a
pop up for weekend trips.

At work I am the official disney planner for everyone since they all know it is my favorite place to visit. So I don't get much of the why do you keep going back. Instead I am like their TA. I always bring back extra park guides and other disney information and make up packets and a day by day itinerary for them.

DS#1 is now starting to get a little tired of Disney, but DS#2 still loves to go. In fact we are looking at doing a possibel Voyager of the Sea cruise in May 2003, since my sons might not be as bored on that one but DS#2 wants to make sure we can still get up to Disney. If not, he wants to do the Disney cruise again even though he was somewhat bored on our 4 day cruise since there were not many teens their age on that cruise.

Kimber--DVC sends you a very nice video which explains their program. It is not like any other timeshare you don't buy weeks you buy points. Plus I believe on the cruise they also have a presentation. It is easier to explain by talking to you then typing.

Jul---I hope you get to stay around PA with the cooler weather that is currently here. I wondered where you were last week.

Start of another week, but closer to the cruise.

Nancy

Kimber---We most have been posting at the same time. I think the question about the show times depends on what the final decision is regarding the dinner times. Latest posted is dinner is 5:30pm and 7:45pm with show times at 6pm and 8pm. Of course, everyone keeps getting different times when they call DCL

Dennis---Norm's favorite ride is Haunted Mansion with Spaceship Earth a close second. Mine is Thunder Mountain and Tower of Terror a close second.

My favorite eatery keeps changing as we continue to explore all the restaurants of the World. Last trip eat at 'Ohana for the first time and I really liked that. Also tried Boma's. That was interesting foods and good, but don't think I would make a special trip to eat there again. Can you tell I have teenage sons we do either buffet or all you can eat.

As for the seven dwarfs, I can't even name all of them let alone know their eye color. Where is William at?

Nancy

Hi Everyone, I am here. And I know the answer to your question. I think... They are all brown except dopey and his are blue. My nickname is Swat7D do you know what that means? I have it embroydered on my pin vest. It stands for Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs!!! I collect all kinds of pins, but the snow white and seven dwarfs are my favorite. Bye, I have to go to bed now. :p William also Dopeyfan.

Nancy

If the questions were easy, what would be the purpose?

There are many restaurants that I would NOT make another trip too. Favorite eatery isn't really a fair ~ Depends on my mood!

Favorite ride ~ You mean I have to make a choice? ~ Hmmmmm
EASY - The most exicitng one with the shortest line ~ Kinda ...

Okay William ... Eye colors of the Seven Dwarfs?

Well all... that's it for me tonight ... Sleep well ...

Back to work .......

I can't remember who else said they wanted to do a dolphin encounter. I just found a really neat place. They have a web site. It is www.dolphinwatch.com. They only take six people out at a time. They are kind of like an environmental group that have adopted a wild pod of dolphins. Anyway, it sounds really neat. They will be on their winter hours in september, but if you can guarantee a group of six will take you out in the afternoon. This is in Key West. Bill, William and I would like to do this. If anyone else is interested, look at the web site and let me know if you would be intersted also. I am going to call them a little later this morning. The cost is $85 per person. This is actually swimming in the ocean with the dolphins.

Nancy hope you had an eventful and safe journey. OUr oldest daughter decided to go to the university here for her first semester and then transfer to a place called Evergreen College in Olympia, Washington. It is a liberal private university and is in a beautiful setting. she has moved out though and I truly miss her.
At least she is still in town and can come for dinner once in awhile. :D

Here is another trivia question for you. What is the name of the fairground organ found at the Grand Floridian in WDW?

Dennis, thanks for your help with the DVC. Will start watching the mailbox.
Relling twin (I think it was you:D ) We would love to meet you in Key WEst. I am hoping the dolphin thing pans out so it will cut our day down some.
I wanted to spend one day on the ship when it is in port somewhere. It is so relaxing then.
Well it is now 6:25 am time to go wake everyone up for school.
Have a great and magical day all, Elaine

Favorite ride other than the magic would be at the haunted house in magic kingdom and spaceship earth. Just hate it that Walter Cronkite is no longer narrating the trip through time and space.

Asking a fat person(me) favorite restaurant is like asking a drunk what is their favorite drink;) Chinese place in epcot, German restaurant and others. Can't wait to try Rose and Crown in epcot with our friends.

Good luck to all those who are waiting on documents today. Mike

My travel agent says we got our docs.
We did not get the Amer Express white glove letter, though, so I called Disney and made reservations for Paolos for Brunch at 10:30 on Monday. That was the earliest for Brunch. So Goofynut has our reservation number if anyone wants to link to sit with us Monday. By mistake I posted this message in the general disney line forum! They would not let us make reservations for any other party unless they had this white glove package.
It is getting close and we can not wait!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Born and elementary schooled in Sullivan County (90 minutes from NYC); high schooled in Greene County (60 minutes south of Albany) - Parents moved back to Clinton Co (Plattsburgh - on Lake Champlain) since Dad was from the border town of Rouses Point.

There is no where on earth as beautiful as sitting on the hill where Frederic Church's home of Olana is built - in Columbia County, on the Hudson River, across the river from Catskill, NY (Mike Tyson's home town). That is heaven for me. If I could live there (curator or floor scrubber!), I would give up all my Disney and cruising! (Now that is something to say!)

Ogdensburg, ehhh?! Small world!~ We would take the QE2 across Canada and cross either there or at Cornwall to get across to the Eastern part of NY. Have you seen the Thousand Islands? They are quite lovely - I wish Hart Castle had been completed and the graffiti was gone though. My daughter was about 3 when we were there and took a tumble - they "speedboated" us to the Hospital ER for her to get stitches. Quite an adventure. By the time we were triaged and done, there were NO VACANCY signs everywhere!!!! Talk about a long night in the car!
