09/28/2002 Cruise

Mary the magic is on the eastern route this week so no docking at mallory square this weekend. Going to get the baby early tomorrow and go trolling at opry mills mall for sure;) Only problem is the game warden(DW) says I have to throw them all back. They are all too young and I already have reached the limit;) ;) I have to say that she is the best catch that I have made in my life.

It is like being a kid at Christmas waiting for this cruise. Time is just dragging by. Mike

For my 11/9 Cruise WOOHOO!............

just kidding! I wanted to beat you all this time. LOL.

How are you all doing? You are going to have to let me know how your captain Marvins tour turns out. I'm thinking about booking with them. Things have been busy here in both my NORMAL job and my Part-time LS duties. I am almost back to the land of the living! 3 more shifts on Nights and I'm on day shift for 4 months.

miss chatting with all of you.........
smiles Patty

Mary - Thanks ~ Sorry I keep getting the names mixed up. Spend so much time making sure things are always right at work, it seems like such a pleasure to have the ability to make mistakes.

Have located the Alaska Pins ... Senior Moment over ... for now~

Have just calculated number of "working days" until I head for the DEEP SOUTH. Only 17!!! :bounce: :p :Pinkbounc
Doesn't make it any sooner ... but sure sounds better to me.

So much to do .... so little time
God love you guys with all those kids.

Well, back to my weekend chores .......

HH&GB to all

Don't worry about the name mix up. It happens all the time. We really are easy to tell apart. Just remember, I am the pretty, smart, nice twin. She is the ugly, dumb, evil twin.:jester:
I have also been counting my work days. 5 more days as "phone nurse", then our team rotates to a different office. Then 17 more regular nurse days. Now I feel better.
Later, Ave'

Count us in as well as we're on the boat too. It'll be me and my DH, BenStone by his DIS name, and our two children. We're DVCers too - gotta love those points. This will be our 4th cruise aboard the Magic.

We'll be easy to spot. We're renewing our vows while onboard so we'll be the couple running around in our wedding attire on Thursday. :)

Has anyone received any further info on the dining times? I called today and again DCL said we're at the old times of 6:00 and 8:30pm - anyone hear differently?

No docs yet. I've never received ours any earlier than 2 weeks out so I'm not truly expecting them for another two weeks. If they come sooner it will be a first for us.

This countdown clock looks better every day.

Reneé

WELCOME RENEE' ,BEN AND FAMILY!!!Glad to have you on board!

HEY, "smart twin"......it's not "jellyroll" it's JellyMoon!!!LOL!!!!!

Hi Patty! Will give a compleat report on Capt. Marvins.

Welcome Renee and Ben! How exciting to be renewing your vows aboard the Magic. How many years has it been? Several of us are celebrating wedding anniversaries. My DH and I are celebrating 15 years.

Several of us have received our documents already. I think I received mine about 10-12 days ago, so yours should be coming.

One day closer...

Kimber

Welcome aboard Renee and Ben and children. (Smart Twin:rolleyes: )Mary got ya Ave:)

Come on cruise. Mike

Welcome to Jellymoon, Renee' and families. That is so cool renewing your vows on the cruise. In June we say a couple who got married on the cruise. You are easy to pick out with that wedding attire on.

So Ave were you hungry when you said Jellyroll instead of Jellymoon.

Hi Dennis--Glad to see your back, but what a live you may have to travel to Hawaii before going on the cruise.

Well, DS #2 has spent all day getting his stuff together to leave for college tomorrow. He takes after me with packing at the last minute. I have to reposses some of the suitcases from DS#1 and DS#2 or will have to buy more to go on the cruise.

Well, I'm off to bed as we have to leave early, four hour drive west to his college. Then 4 hours back, load up DS #1 stuff to go on Monday. That is only a 2 hour drive east. It is tiring me out just thinking about it. Hopefully, the weather will be a little cooler for all these moves. No AC in any of the dorms.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Nancy

Welcome Renee and family ...

Nancy - It's a "tough life" but somebody has to do it! :p
Probably end up in Hawaii two-three times year for work.
No big deal ... Do you know how much time I spend in airports?! NOT my favorite past time ... Good thing I had clean socks with no holes this last trip! Sneakers "inspected" twice! Coming & Going!!! Really checking "health hazards" :(

DVC membership ... Begs a question ... why did you buy?
I bought mine when my Boss sent me to WDW for Customer Service Training (1992?). I was waiting to go take Float Plane lessons ... Took the tour ... Presto! Went back to Alaska and told Chrystina I had "bought in"... thought she was gonna kill me!!! Went that winter - Loved it!!! Bought more... Later we went to HH ... Loved it ... Bought more... Always working off our points!!! This cruise was a "use it or lose it" effort ~ Second time!!! My theory is that we may be poor in out old age but we can always go on vacation!!!

Hello to all the new families and Howdy to everyone else. How we all doing? We are also DVC members (Old Key West)have been since 1995 and it has well paid for itself already. We planned on going every two years on big vacations but I am thinking about more points also so we can travel down more often. Wanted to have brother and sisters join but they think Disney is for kids and only one sibling has ever been there, go figure. I have loved everything Disney since I was a little kid and after three trips to WDW I jumped at the chance to join the club. I remember talking on the phone with our rep and didn't allow her the sales rap I just told her to sign me up there and then. I knew Disney would "do it right" and they do. Our favorite place to stay is the Grand Floridian It was the first place we ever vacationed at WDW and may have spoiled us but Barbara fell in love so it took no convincing her. I fully expect not to see the documents till the last possible day, Murphy's Law in play, I will just order the tux thru their web site. Our group is getting larger every week and this is so cool. Rain has been great this weekend and I think I hear the grass sighing! Have a great week everybody stay healthy and well!    :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Good Morning,

Mary - HOTLANTA - your not kidding - beautiful city - but traffic stinks?

Why we became DVC members? We started our annual vacations to WDW in 1990. I was in college and need a break - every January. In January 1992, we were down there staying at the Yacht Club and knew the next year - we could not stay there it would be so expensive (it was just opened and we got a great deal.) So DH(fiance at the time) insisted that we take a tour. Took a tour and loved it. We bought into it and traveled pretty much every year since then. I need to have a goal to look forward too every year and WDW is it. The biggest part of the deal was that we received length of stay passes everytime we booked at OKW up until end of 1999. We love "going home."

Of course, I always get the "your going to Disney again . . . . blah blah blah". Another one "your kids are too young, they will not remember." My response to that one is "Disney is for Mommy and Daddy not just the kids." No one understands the love for WDW.

Welcome Renee and Ben! How exciting to be renewing your vows aboard the Magic. How many years has it been? Several of us are celebrating wedding anniversaries. My DH and I are celebrating 15 years.
Thanks everyone! It will be our 20th. We've been together 26 years on September 25th though. We were highschool sweethearts. :) I've been planning the renewal for over a year now. Originally we were going to do it at the wedding pavilion at WDW but the cruise sounded so romantic. Yup, we'll be easy to spot with our wedding attire on. I'll also be the one toting the wedding dress into port. I thought last year's carry ons were fun - this year adds a whole new dimension.

Our DVC purchase didn't happen until '98. We too are OKW owners - the absolute best purchase we've ever made. We bought a resale at OKW sight unseen. At that time there was only BWV and OKW. Our mouths hit the floor the first time we walked into our 2 br at OKW after our initial purchase. We returned on Friday around noon and by 4 pm we were looking into an add-on contract. Fantastic purchase.

For those of you who have your docs already....there's no mention of the dining times changing?

Reneé

Good morning all. Renee, Kathy and I are celebrating our 30th on the cruise. The actual date is September 1st. Art and Cathy(@goofynut) are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary also.

You will enjoy meeting this bunch of friendly cruisers, who are more like old friends than fellow shipmates.

Our documents did not mention anything about the new dining times. I think that it is a week by week thing. Who knows? Me I am ready 24 x7 so anytime is a good time to dine:D Mike

Jul, I am sooo... glad to hear someone else gets the "you're going to disney, ,,again??" It has gotten to the point that I just say we are going to Florida and if they keep asking they I tell them yeah and just shut up about it!:p You are so right about disney just being in your blood. My husband went the first 4 or5 times with me and kids, then he said he had had enough. HE said he had seen it all once and didn't need to see it again! Ha! There is always something new. Then my kids started dropping out. Have lost the two oldest girls. But my mom joined me! She loves it too. Then we did our first cruise this year and Bill was hooked again. He also got into pin trading with William so that was another incentive. After our cruise in Feb. we went to the world for the day when we disembarked. Our flight wasn't until the evening. Guess who suggested we buy annual passes? So then in June he and William went "solo" to disneyworld for a "father/son" time. :bounce: :bounce: I couldn't stand it so my mom and I took the little guy (age 6) to Disneyland. It was closer! And now here we are. I could just kick myself that we didn't buy into DVC when we first looked at it 15 years ago. I plan to rectify that this time:p :p :p

My kids get two weeks at spring break, so I was planning on a cruise and then several days at disneyworld. The longest we have ever stayed is 6 or 7 days. I always worry about Molly and Tucker (our two golden retrievers) missing us too much. :( I guess they will be ok if our oldest girl comes and stays with them. Whew! didin't mean to carry on so.

I am off to my friends longerberger basket party. That is my other addiction. Besides stamping and scrapbooking! And Disney!!! I think I have too many addictions. ;)

Only five more Saturdays and we will be meeting all you wonderful people. I am already thinking about when we are finished cruising:( and I won't be running to my computer to see who has posted. Hey, maybe my laundry will be more caught up and the house cleaner?? I will miss "talking" to you all.
Nah....then I will find a group for the next cruise:crazy:

Bye for Now, Have a magical day:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Elaine

Still no documents here :( Bummer!

:bounce: Yesterday I took some of the last name tags to get laminated and the *x*xed machine ate them. Go figure! Guess I'll just re-do them and wait until I can find a place that can promise not to screw them up.

See we "grew" again .... WELCOME, WELCOME! If you guys would like me to do up name tags for you, either E-mail or PM me with the names. Yesterday Art said maybe I should set a deadline
to avoid any problems. Given my laminating dilema, deadline for name tags is Sept. 16th. Sorry...

I'll try and get with Mary at the Raddison and start passing out the NAME TAGS to anyone that we meet there ... the rest I'll carry with me at check in, on the ship and at Sail Away!

Mary .. check your PM - Mike .. check your e-mail.

Gotta go do some chores .. ugh!

Brunch with Mom is set for Sunday 10:30 - thought I'd free up Monday for the rest of you. No problem for us.

Delta Airlines - for mlshields, my Poughkeepsie Pal!
Well, Delta promises the lowest fares and will provide you with a voucher for the difference if the price you paid is higher than the price now for the flight. My original flight was $228 - it dropped to $136.50. I got a voucher for the difference and can use it within the year. The other part of that was a flight we took that had a lot of foreseen and unforeseen problems, we complained politely to Delta and made some positive suggestions regarding the complaints - they issued us $100 vouchers for each of us to use within a year for Delta flights. I did not ask for a refund/voucher or anything - just made polite and positive comments.

As someone who just bought into DVC (Feb 02 cruie, back dated to Oct 01), I am soooo glad to hear all the positive comments from veteran DVC members. We took til the end of the week to make our decision while on the 7 night cruise - we spoke to everyone we could about DVC, asked every possible question we could think of, and were impressed with our Cast Member Carol Ann's honesty and professionalism. We took 400 points at Hilton Head at that time and have thought of getting more.

To paraphrase one of our wise DVC/DIS members, we might not have money in our old age but we will have vacations. Lots of them! Too bad we always have to fly to get anywhere from the cornfields of Indiana! (Can you tell I don't care much for Indiana?)

Rae

By the way, I went through my closet and packed my suitcase yesterday. I am getting too hyper about this trip!!! Mom laid out her clothes and wants my opinion - GET THAT ! MY opinion! Holy Moly!!!!

Hi,

If you are looking for a lanyard with a pouch to hold your KTTW - stop at Walmart near the wallet section .97 cents. <don't you love Walmart>

eshannon - i am so glad to hear you have the same problem.

Here is a story for you. My DD is 6 - she only stayed at OKW once when she was 8 months, the rest of the time we were at BWV. Last year, we had to stay at OKW <7 month window booked for BWV>. Before checking in - we went to BWV then to EPCOT. On our way back from EPCOT, we kept on walking out of BWV. DD turned to me and said - "Where are we going?", I gave her the news that we were staying at OKW. She was not a happy camper. <I was not either, but what can you do.> So this year, we added on BCV points. Not to make her happy, but because we travel with my mother who has difficulty walking and loves to go to EPCOT. We get her one of the motorized scooters and she cruises around. So anybody in WDW after the cruise - watch out for my mother (77) in EPCOT. My mother and brothers will be joining us after the cruise in WDW.

Renee - congratulations on the renewal of your vows.

Ok - all of you scrapbook fans - my co-worker in Atlanta showed me her scrapbooks and it looks really cool to do - but I have a problem with finding hobbies and then dumping them. Anybody else out there like me? I would love to do it - but afraid I would quit.

You're "GOING TO DISNEY AGAIN"?!

Like this addiction needs an explanation! Me, I just smile and say "Cause I can" ~ Someone once added "probably going to waste time playing golf too" ~ "Stupid waste of time & money".
I was so angry I LEVELED both barrels on them.

Gave some eloquent speech about how: Golf teaches patience, perserverance, and good manners. How: Disney teaches optimism, neatness counts, attention to detail, happiness, and family values. These are BAD THINGS?! Been quiet ever since...

NEED my Disney Days ... Have NEVER once regretted that DVC purchase. Something right about the "Welcome Home" feeling ...

Good News (For ME) ~ Chrystina called from London last night ~ All is well, having a great time seeing the sights and visiting with her friends. She misses me. NOW there is a STRANGE addiction!!
Would get her medical help BUT .... I am addicted to her too. Somethings, like Disney Days don't need "fixin" - Okay Enough!
