09/28/2002 Cruise

Papa (Mike) - not sure about what you meant about the bacteria and using it. Something to put into the septic system. Our old house had septic and never had a problem. This "upscale money pit" has been one headache after another and in four years, we've had ceiling fall due to plumbing in two rooms (that class action lawsuit on TV now - we are part of it). It's only a 10 year old house but WHEW - long story about the problems. And we had a house inspector! SHEESH~! Anyway, Mike, let me know what the scoop is on that bacteria!

Nancy (PaDisneyfan) - Karen (Rikersmom) also told me that her DH got rolls of Indiana Quarters. Okay folks - forget my idea about giving each of you a Indiana Quarter as a souvenier!! Seems you already can get them. And I thought we'd have first crack at them! Seems PA is way ahead of us in a lot of things!

;)

My Mom told me that I should say something nice about Indiana since I've been "badmouthing it" to all of you - so I thought about it and finally came up with something - "It's a nice state to leave."

Dennis (PowerAlaska) - had grilled salmon yesterday and thought of you.

Karen - darlin', if it wasn't for bargain shopping, I'd never leave the house. It's MY thing! I am lousy at haggling even after being overseas for some years with the USAF - but turn me loose on a clearance rack and it's "bye bye Rae"!

My Michael says "NO WAY" to swimming in the ocean - he thinks sharks are everywhere. Maybe when he's older he'll think about it. We did get some manta rays at the adult beach at CC in April 01 close to us. That was pretty neat.

Have a great last day of the weekend everyone!

Rae

Good Morning to you all, and what an early crew you are this morning. We too have a house being built behind and up the hill behind us. THEY started at 6 am. Fortunately, I only heard them because I let the dogs out our bedroom in in the front of the house.:D

For those of you with kids: I went in our BIG LOTS store yesterday, looking for something they have discontiuned in the regular stores. Anyway I had a marvelous find!!! I am having Shirley make up a basket for William and I foun alittle electronic hand held Disney Trivia game for only $7 I thought that was great. they had quite a few if anyone want s me to get one. let me know.

Karen, we just got a Walmart about 5 minutes away. I now know the store very well.

Have already put my name on our underwater cameras:p

I too also had the laser surgery about three years ago but DH refuses. I read on the Captain Marvins site they have prescription masks. You just have to request them when you go.

Dennis, William can't wait to meet you!!! He keeps saying Dennis this and Dennis that. He has ordered a Disney trivia book to keep you on your toes whilst on the ship. Sorry William, forewarned is forearmed;)

My uncle arrives from England next Tuesday and will be here for two weeks. He leaves on the 24th and we leave on the 27th. Time will be flying now.

Mentioned to William we need to go and get him so new dresss pants and he had a hissy. these are his words "NOOOOOOO,
last time you made me dress up and all those people had shorts on" Well he was right. We never didi go to Lumieres. Went to Topsiders those nights. But I really want to go this time and also to Palo's He says he will eat at Plutos (He would love to eat there all the time!) the nights we go to Lumieres. Oh well, guess will let him do what makes him happy. It is his cruise also. But I will be bringing a pair of dress pants;)
Gotta go, gonna clean the kids rooms today. Have black trash bags, will clean!! Elaine

Hello everyone. I was without a computer for a few days and have been back on line about a week. Boy do you become accustomed to it. I was suffering from terrible withdrawal!

We are doing Captain Marvins in Grand Cayman, what do you all suggest we do after that? We would like to snorkle. Any ideas?

To the girls that were e-mailing mine, please e-mail them again. They miss corresponding with you!

TTS,

Vonda

PS I think we are going to do Palos brunch on Key West day instead. Hubby wants to play footsies!

Vonda - Mom and I are doing the Sunday Brunch at Palo also (10:30). Sounds like a nice idea to be able to see the docking from there.
I'm going to mention horseback riding at Grand Cayman once again - Nicki does take afternoon appointments and children over age 7.
Any luck with the TA situation?

Rae

I saw Nicki's website. I wonder if it's to much for my 10 and 8 year old to to Capt. Marvins and Nicki's? I wonder what the beach is like where you ride?

TA situation still stinks. I have been corresponding with one of the big wigs. After I threatened reporting them to the BBB, she has not resonded.

Vonda

Buckaroo's Dad was there two weeks ago and raved about both Nicki and the ride. I believe the beach is deserted. He and his son had been on the land/sea excursion and had a very bad time - Nicki was very empathetic and even showed them some of the island herself!

Not sure if that will be too much for your children, I know it would be for my DS(7).

On a hopeful note, maybe the "big wig" is working on the problem and will give you a satisfactory reply shortly. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Rae

Whats wrong with the posting place? The last couple of posts are off my screen. Just posting to see if it is my computer

Rae I am not seeing anything you are putting up, early All Hallows ghosts??? William you got to dress up a little heck I will be in a suit at least twice and we have to have the best looking table right buddy its only for dinner anyway. By the way do you play any sports or musical instruments. I wish I had you here to teach me the computer sounds like you know your way around it pretty well. My family have been sea men for a long time back, even the ones who were land lubers were associated with ship's or ship building. My family lost two great great grand -fathers (ships captains) at sea, sailing vestle's. One on both sides of my family. We had a relative on the Monitor, a commander, and an officer on Admirial Dewey's flagship the Olympia. My Dad and his brother both served in WW2 in the Navy. My Dad a line officer on a DE and my uncle a pilot (torpedo bomber). Do you think I had much of a option as to where I would serve? Almost had another uncle talk me into Army rangers, fat chance there. Oh the land lubbers! My Grand Pa Murphy ,from Belfast, he worked for the White Star Line he built the furniture on the Titanic he use to say his best work was at the bottom of the Ocean. You could say there is a bit of salt in my blood and it came from the sea, maybe that is why I love it so just to look out as we sail. Have nice short week and let's put another in the book. See Ya!

We are back from Darlington! We had a very good time. I really did not think we would get to see any race (much less the whole thing!) but the rain stopped and the ponchos came off! It rained the whole way there, and once at the track we walked around looking at all the items for sale. DH got himself a Mark Martin hat and shirt.Nancy, we did not drive home after the race. We drove a few miles to a Best Western and relaxed while the other 140,000 people suffered in traffic. We had a nice dinner at Cracker Barrel (thought of you Mike!) and went to sleep! About 3:30 am a very loud train passed by the motel!!!Horns, whistles, and bells!! It was like the scene in "My Cousin Vinney"!
The race was very exciting, and we were glad we went! We plan on going again next year.

Welcome to mbaxende and Carolrie! Glad to have you with us. If you would like a copy of the DIS'er list, send me your e-mail address and I will add you to it and forward you a copy.BetteMom, Lexsup, and tcjp4me the same goes for you. Knowing the number of Dis'er and the ages (of the kids) helps those of us who are bringing "stuff" for the gang. I will be bringing lanyards for everyone and will have them in a bag with your screen name on it. But I need to know how many in your parties.I think others are bringing small items from their states, so an accurate count is helpful. Thanks!

Vonda, I will take your name off the Brunch list. I'm sure you and DH will have fun at Brunch;)

TwinAve LOVED the story of what Case asked about the Captain. I had to read it twice....Capt. Hans.....dose he have feet????LOL!!!
Too funny!

I ordered my stuff from The Perfect Gift. Shirley is going hunting for Mark Martin items since I wanted a NASCAR Theme for DH basket. What a nice company to deal with.

Back to work tomorrow.Another day closer to our cruise!

Hello all,

My girls are all packed - they picked out their clothes on Saturday night and we packed them - what else were we going to do it was raining?

George and Barb - i will be flying on UsAir too. I called them yesterday to check on the status of our flight on Friday night - they said it was still scheduled - and that they would call us when and if there was a change. I will be checking every week.;) Also, not sure if you have been to Phila Airport lately, it is screwed up again with construction and terminal B is closed so you enter through C - not that painful.

Just think four weeks from today - we will be at sea.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Welcome to Carolrie and Family!:D
VondaP, Sorry you will not be joining us for the Brunch, but somehow your morning sounds like more fun. We will drink a champange toast in your honor.;)
Mary, Glad you made it home OK. Sorry Mark Martin didn't win. I also placed my order with The Perfect Gift. Got the Quite Time basket for DS, (wishful thinking) and the Preteen Thing for DD. Since they will both be having Birthdays this month I thought I'd spurge a little. DD will turn 12 on 9/30. Her grandmother paid for her dress for formal night, as her BD gift.
Spent the whole weekend relaxxxxxing. Brought the kids to Miracle Strip Amusement Park last night. Since PCB is a summer vacation spot, this was our last weekend to do the tourist thing.
Rae, I'm not getting any of your posts, have you changed your posting color? It's coming up blank. :(
Tomorrow is the first "Monday" of the month, so I just finished cooking my Starfish team breakfast. Sausage, egg and cheese, in a pastry ring. Hope they like it!:p
Dennis, Thanks for checking on "us".
Later, Ave'

Chrystina is home and all is well. :p The "babies" are in good shape but have given her a stern talking too. She hasn't told them she is leaving agin this weekend. MORE Good News ...
Disney Documents have arrived ... SO0000 ... If I can keep my stress down and sanity intact for just a couple more weeks ...
Really beginning to look forward to going home for a few days ...

Dennis

I am so sorry!
I was trying to post the website where my daughter's memorial is, take off the flag and second counter since it was making my posts so large. But I goofed and I really messed things up for everyone on the board.

I am so very sorry everyone!

See what happens when a person messes with things they know nothing about! Next time I'll leave it to DH or Michael to take care of this stuff!

Again, my apologies to all for this mess!

Dennis - I probably didn't say anything worth while so you probably didn't miss much! : )

Again, sorry!
Rae

Allrighty .... It's past Labor Day and the next big holiday is
:bounce: :bounce: Sail-A-Way!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend and was safe. We had our last regular season AAA baseball game. Our team won and is in the playoffs YEAH! Then Saturday we had our first Penn State Home Game ... We WON! I just wish that one of these years (last 20) there would NOT be any highway construction for the 3 hour drive. Sorry if any of you guys do highway construction but geesh.

Back to work and try and close up all my loose ends before the cruise. With any luck Uncle Sam will give our agency a budget before we leave and then I can be assured there will not be any rolliing furloughs.

Elaine ... check your PM.

Check on everyone later.

Hi, Rae--Don't worry about it. I think people were just trying to figure out what happened. I was able to read the posts by using the arrows to move it over. Please note that I don't even know the technical terms for these things--I just fake it and then ask for help.

Nancy, still haven't made the appointment for the eye vet for Riker. He is getting along quite well, and we are weighing the stress of an operation against the chance that he could regain some sight. Wish someone could guarantee that he'd make it through and then be able to see. Unfortunately, like humans, dogs don't come with guarantees.

Welcome to the new folks--I look forward to hearing where you're from and what your families are like.

Even though I've followed this board faithfully, I still have trouble remembering who's doing what. It still amazes me that we can get to know each other electronically.

Have a magical day,

Karen

Hi everyone,

We had a lovely weekend. Yesterday Mike and I went to Opry Mills Mall and "trolled" and it really did happen! Women came out of the woodwork when he had Katie. When I had Katie there were polite smiles and "Cute baby" remarks but no grouping around the stroller. When Mike had it and I stood aside---WOW!

We had a good laugh over it and Katie did not do too bad. We bought her some socks at the Carter store that won't stay on her feet. I feel like taking them back. What happened to the socks that stayed on my children's feet?

thesorcerer1 Wow!

Hello Rosemary! Still wish you were going too. JNOEL, thought I saw you yesterday at the Mall. Mike kept saying it wasn't you and I realized it wasn't. *Sigh*

Take care, DD1 has arrived to spend the day with us. Kathy

Sure, we're back to work and the sun is out ... What's up with that!

Well the good news is I don't have my appt for the ortho Dr until we get back from the cruise the bad news is that I still have to go for the NCT tomorrow. Somehow I can see me being a pin-cushion and not liking it. Oh well.

I see that the haunted mansion is going to be closed for 2 weeks this month for refurb ... hope it's done by the beginning of October. Get a kick out of that ride!

Can't remember ... is there a limit to the # of carry-on's we are allowed when boarding? I'll have something that I don't want to get broken and wondering if they just x-ray or will they have to open stuff.

We interrupt this day-dream for work ........ UGH!

:bounce: :bounce: They're Here, Finally :bounce: , Art got our documents from the Fed Ex Guy at work. Earlier he had sort of given him a "talking to" that if he had them he should leave them at the school rather than wait to deliver them to our home! All is well ... I was starting to get the hibyjeebies about not having them.

....... Back to work, Darn!

Been away for a last fling at the cottage this weekend - 6 pages of posts to catch up on. Ick.

Here's some one-word movies which I don't think have been mentioned, yet. I think they're all Disney or Touchstone:

Signs (saw this last week - it's great!!!)
Rushmore
Ransom
Dragonslayer
Gus
Popeye
Kidnapped
Newsies
Beloved
Phenomenom
Alive

That's a good start. :)

- Mike

Please don't get me wrong for every "peach" we had there were just as many "bad apples". It was just funny that so many on both sides of my Mom's and Dad's side were sailing/ navy men. We have researching my dad's side of the family because we were closer to them and had a lot of my Grand Mothers "stuff" and heard more of the family history from her. Funny story about her real quick! Her side of the family (Fitzmorris) saloon owners in Philadelphia along comes the temperance movement and closes down most of the family businesses. She goes to work for them during the day and in the family speak easy at night. My Dad's father died at like 36/37 of pneumonia before his last child was born and she needed the money. She was what I lovingly call a tough old Broad, because my Dad did too. Our family roots are strong and deep fairly solid stock with a few quirks here and there. If there is anything that describes a Philadelphian that's it. We get a bad rap sometimes and we can be rough but once you know us you will love us to death! See Ya'll soon:D  :earsgirl: :earsboy:
