Is the game a playoff / championship game?
-If yes, go with options "B" (we dont get in til 9:30PM), or "D"
-If no, go with options "A" or "C"

(this almost sounds like an SAT exam question )

Well THAT helps! :lmao:

The game is the last regular season game and only one of three night games. (It's always so cool with the kids get to play under the lights)

How long is the drive to Chicago for you? Are you able to get the room for just 1 night? How early on Saturday are we meeting - and what are we doing?

No traffic - 45 minutes to an hour
Traffic - could be two to three hours :upsidedow

We just found out that Shawn does have that Saturday off, we likely will come up Saturday Morning and stay Saturday night. Where is everyone staying? We would like to stay close.

I'm not a fan of driving in Chicago traffic on Friday evenings. :confused3

:banana::banana: YAY!!!!! Everyone that I know of that has booked a hotel has booked at Embassy Suites on State St in Chicago which is right in the middle of everything.

I am most impressed with the Disney Lost & Found. In the summer of 2009 my father and I were at Animal Kingdom. We had taken the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch and spent time there. After getting back and almost out of the park my Dad announced that he had lost one of his new hearing aids. (These things are tiny, hi-tech and worth about 4 grand EACH)

Well, having no idea where to even look I took a blind shot at going to the Lost & Found just inside the front gate. I explained what was missing, they told us to hold on and walked into the back. 90 seconds later they handed me a little plastic bag with the hearing aid.

It appears someone found it at the gift shop in the conservation station at Rafiki's Planet Watch. The hearing aid made it to Guest Services faster than we did LOL

WOW! That is just awesome!

Ok, Chicago DISers - Junior and I need your input. We want to stay Friday and Saturday nights for the June Dismeet. Our DS has an 8:00 game Friday night. We have several options:
A. Skip the game and come up to Chicago right after work
B. Go to the game and get to Chicago really late friday night
C. Go to the game but leave halfway through and get to Chicago late but not as late as option B
D. Just come up to Chicago early Saturday morning and just stay the night Saturday night.

So, let me know which option you all think we should do. (p.s. The kids are not coming with us for the Dismeet)

Deb-

I would talk to DS and see how he reacts to you both missing the game. If he seems really bothered, go with C and let him know that is your compromise. If he is not really phased by it, go with A and never look back.

This probably isn't going to help you reach a concensus, but for what it's worth: If I lived relatively close and there was nothing big going on with the group Friday night or first thing Saturday morning, I would stay for the game and sleep at home, thus saving the Hotel and Car Park for a day. Heck if I had frequent stay points to cover the entire weekend, I'd probably still drive in early Saturday morning and save some points for later.

If there were something I wanted to be sure and catch sooner, I would probably follow something like Andy's strategy. Your children are more important than your friends, but how important is it to them that you attend? If you are worried about missing DS scoring the winning point of the game, another parent can probably give you a copy of their game tape.

It took me a while to switch from using the term 'filming' to 'taping' ... what do we call it now? I would say recording, but that kinda goes back to the vinyl record era.

The decision has been made for us. Friday night is now too expensive just to sleep there the night before all the fun. So we will be getting up early and driving up there Saturday. It was $330 for Friday and Only $200 for Saturday so it's a no brainer now.

:sad2: But at least that helped us make up our mind!

That's great Andy! I enjoy these little reminders of why I love Disney!

Wonder what's goin' on Friday ... they throwin' in the bed bug for free that night?

Don't forget how the big cities add taxes on top of what the state has, and it seems the larger the Hotel, the more they charge for the privelidge of parking there. Sometimes I think how many hours I have to work to equate to a purchase. But since I'm not working now, I think how long Lara will be off my back. :)

Well, Jim and I have ressies for Friday night, but not Saturday. We will stay late Saturday night though and just drive home when everyone goes back to their rooms. It only takes us 40 minutes. I am fine with Signature Room on Saturday morning/afternoon. We should probably get a count and make reservations???

This is for our recent Dream Cruisers...

Did any of you notice any good quality bags available on the ship? I was thinking instead of bringing a bag to carry home the "stuff" that I would buy a large duffel or something like that on the ship (then I have yet another gift from the cruise :thumbsup2)

Let me know what you think. Thanks!
