Has anyone been on the new Star Tours

Hey Mickey,

Terrie, Milford and I all rode it few times on opening day.:banana::banana:

It's in 3D :3dglasses and have 50 different "tour" destinations (you get 2 tours per ride). The 2 times Terrie & I rode it with Milford, we got to see 3 different destinations (1 was a repeat).

This question was just asked a few days ago (and for the very same reason you're asking it :thumbsup2), but as quickly as these threads move, trying to find that post would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

DVC/DCL does not announce the entertainment schedule ahead of time. We find out when we board the ship. I wish they would let us know ahead of schedule so we can all plan accordingly, but I guess they don't realize what a bunch of planners they are dealing with. Last year, Pirate night was the second night of the cruise (after our first Castaway Cay day).

I guess it is true that GMTA. Or if not great minds, then hyper planners, lol. Argh!!! I sailed the Dream back in January so I've visited all the restaurants, but my traveling companion hasn't so I really don't want him to miss anything, especially the New Animator's. Plus, I've never experienced the Pirate Night menu so I don't want to dine at Palo that night.

Ah well, I've still got some time to try to ferret out the answer and even if I don't, it will still be an amazing cruise.

Now back to your regularly scheduled chatter. ;) Maybe I'll even try to participate a bit more instead of lurking as it would be lovely to have friends other than Brian on the ship.

We just got back from the Dream last Thursday and I believe the Pirate Night's menu (royal palace, animators, enchanted garden all serve the same menu on Pirate Night) was the same as last year's Member Cruise on the Wonder.

Since this cruise is different than normal 4 day cruises, we can't go by other itineraries. The best we can guess is how it went on last year's cruise, which had Pirate Night on Monday night. Unless you or one of us comes up with something more definitive, your strategy would be to take your best guess and book when your Palo booking window opens up. Then as soon as you get checked in at the port take a look at your dining rotation. One of the restaurants will be duplicated. Then once onboard you can adjust your reservation (availability permitting) to a different night. Depending on where Pirate Night and your duplicate restaurant fall, if you had to sacrafice a different venue, based on what I have heard the Enchanted Garden would be the next one to skip.

You will need to check the Navigator to find the time and location to adjust reservations. We have done this a couple of times, and never had a problem.

Does this sound right to the rest of you? And Pam, if you are able to ferret out anything more definite, please report back here. In the mean time feel free to join in with us.

Hello Everyone!!!

I did not bother with Thread 5 since my last post a very long time ago. I checked it out this evening and saw it was closed. Yikes!

This is a very chatty bunch. You all crack me up as I read through your posts. I hope to be able to check in a little more frequently now that some of the kids activities are done for the year. We still have Daisy & Boy Scouts, softball, hockey, and soccer but it is really great having a little more time at home. Not sure how all of you other parents out there feel about it but parenting is exhausting. :confused3 Do any of you recall your parents running around so much when you were a kid? Did we have this many activities? Ugh.

I can't wait for the cruise to get here. Not that I want to rush summer but the kids and I are really excited to see all the new things on the Dream.

I am also booked on a 5 night on the Dream in March '12 with folks I met on the SSMC09. That is a 'kids free' trip. My DBFF from college is going with me. Actually this is the BFF I went to NYC with on my birthday back in February. I think it was the same day a bunch of you met up for your DIS meet. That looked and sounded like a fun time.

Deb - I was wondering how you made out with that spreadsheet I sent you for the linked dining? Were you able to use it or at least use the contact information provided?

Deb and Junior - Sorry to hear about your dog. You are so lucky to have had 17 years with him. Your family will always have fond memories to share.

Take care and hope everyone continues to stay safe with all the crazy weather we've seen across the country over the past month or two.

Terrie - Thank you so much for the words of wisdom! This is the hardest decision I've ever had to make!!! How do you just choose a date to end your dog's life?! Especially when she's been the best dog we could ever have asked for! She has been such an obedient dog and a great watch dog, too! We will miss her sooooo much, but we are so glad for the nearly 17 years we got to spend with her. For a mid-size dog to live that long, I KNOW she has always known how much we love her!

You are welcome Debbie :flower3: Picking a day to say goodbye is not easy but I will share the guidelines I was taught by my mentors when I began showing and breeding. So long as they have a decent quality of life then it isn't time. If they are sick and whatever they have is uncurable then once the point is reached where they are unable/unwilling to eat, it is time. If they are unable to get up and move around and are soiling themselves, then it is time. If the uncurable or untreatable sickness (certain cancers at certain stages) is on the verge of progressing to the suffering stage then it is time. I hope this helps and again, I'm so sorry.

Ok, Chicago DISers - Junior and I need your input. We want to stay Friday and Saturday nights for the June Dismeet. Our DS has an 8:00 game Friday night. We have several options:
A. Skip the game and come up to Chicago right after work
B. Go to the game and get to Chicago really late friday night
C. Go to the game but leave halfway through and get to Chicago late but not as late as option B
D. Just come up to Chicago early Saturday morning and just stay the night Saturday night.

So, let me know which option you all think we should do. (p.s. The kids are not coming with us for the Dismeet)

Is the game a playoff / championship game?
-If yes, go with options "B" (we dont get in til 9:30PM), or "D"
-If no, go with options "A" or "C"

(this almost sounds like an SAT exam question )

The naked you is an image that will haunt these threads until we sail:scared1:
Please tell me that there is NO smiley for that:rotfl2:

How long is the drive to Chicago for you? Are you able to get the room for just 1 night? How early on Saturday are we meeting - and what are we doing?

My suggestion for the dismeet is this:

Saturday

1. Meet at signature room at 11:00 for lunch buffet. I figure with a buffet we can all just eat and talk at our leisure without having to wait to be served. The Signature Room is on the 95th floor of the Hancock building for those who didn't know.

2. Go to the river boat tour after eating early afternoon.

3. Be done for the day at around 4 or 5. Then we could do whatever. Some could go home, maybe go to dinner, some could shop or some could nap. We can figure that out day of.

Sunday

1. We can do that lunch walk that was posted a while back. That sounded like fun.

2. Whatever

That's what I was thinking. :confused3

It all sounds good to me. Terrie & I don't fly out until Monday morning, so we're game for anything. Who's in charge of coordinating? Anyone?...Anyone? :confused3

We just found out that Shawn does have that Saturday off, we likely will come up Saturday Morning and stay Saturday night. Where is everyone staying? We would like to stay close.

I'm not a fan of driving in Chicago traffic on Friday evenings. :confused3

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao: ...I believe I forgot some stuff on either the DREAM or at BLT

I am most impressed with the Disney Lost & Found. In the summer of 2009 my father and I were at Animal Kingdom. We had taken the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch and spent time there. After getting back and almost out of the park my Dad announced that he had lost one of his new hearing aids. (These things are tiny, hi-tech and worth about 4 grand EACH)

Well, having no idea where to even look I took a blind shot at going to the Lost & Found just inside the front gate. I explained what was missing, they told us to hold on and walked into the back. 90 seconds later they handed me a little plastic bag with the hearing aid.

It appears someone found it at the gift shop in the conservation station at Rafiki's Planet Watch. The hearing aid made it to Guest Services faster than we did LOL

I believe Terrie & I, Kelly & Jim, and Debbie & Junior are all staying in downtown somewhere...I forgot the name, but Junior booked it for us. :thumbsup2
