09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

Hi back, Flo. Hope you all are doing well. Are you still liking the job? Is Bolt doing OK?

Mary, glad to hear that things are looking good. Maybe now you can relax a little bit.

Dave, we're like you. We've elected to let Disney do our planning, so we haven't made any changes to our plans. I'd really like to get into Barcelona early, but since the cruise is two weeks long all by itself, I don't think Wayne can take more time so we could go early. Oh, well, I'm grateful we're going at all.

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Went to bed early last night (10pm) for the first time in a very long time. But, I ended up tossing and turning half the night. :confused3 Decided to just get up and get some things done. So, been up since a little after 4. But of course I am still really tired and could probably go back to sleep right about now.

Pine Wood Derby was last night (DSs last year). He took 4th place. :thumbsup2 He was so excited but then a little disappointed not to be in the top 3 and advance to the county race which is next week. The biggest excitement of the night was before the race got started. Two little girls (age 4) wandered off in the school and were playing in one of the classrooms. It took a while to find them as people were looking inside and outside the building. Needless to say it was a mess.

Tonight is the sleep over at the museum. I just hope I do not keep everyone awake with my cold. I better go find a quiet place for the kids and I away from everyone else.

Sounds like everyone else is doing well.

Mary - What can I say that can not be said with smilies....:thumbsup2:cool1::banana::woohoo: :cloud9: :flower3::dance3: !!!!!!

Have a great day everyone and an even better weekend.

Looks like it will be a chilly weekend here but I can not complain after hearing some of the temps a few of you have had this year. No thanks!! I did ask the kids yesterday if they wanted to move south to warmer weather. :thumbsup2 I received mixed feedback. Biggest concern was with leaving friends. I asked....you don't think you would make new friends?? I could tell their minds were working on that one.

Take Care :flower3:

Lisa,

Hope you have fun this weekend. Here is some :wizard: to help your cold go away.

Congrats to your DS for a job well done.:thumbsup2

ALl of you must have been so scared with the little girls missing. Glad they were found safe and sound.

TGIF everyone. Have a great weekend.

Wow that is awesome - 4th place is great! Congrats to DS for us! I really used to like pinewood derby days! It's even better when the parents stay out of it and let the kids have fun. There have been some years, especially at the district races, when some dads are way too serious about winning!! Sounds like the giant game of hide-and-seek was real fun!

Have fun at the museum - have done my share of those too! Some were fun, others not so much, but always interesting - again, the parents can be crazy sometimes!

It is really cold here and dropping fast! DS has karate tonight and I'm bracing for going back out into it!

Oh, extra pixie dust for DS please! He goes to audition for the All-South Jersey Orchestra tomorrow morning - please send him happy thoughts!

Did anyone get an email from Castaway Club about the EBTA and the prices on the open cabins?

Mary,
how do you make one of those trip logos like you did for the wedding? :confused3

Basically you start with a piece of clip art and adjust accordingly. Then you save it in a size that will work in a signature and save it to a photo share site or right here on the DIS.

Now having said that I'm not the creative person behind either of the two that I have. They were both done by others that we are sailing with.

If you go to the DISign section of the DIS there are tons are creative people who do logos for signatures, t-shirts, etc.

Lisa, congrats to your DS! Good job!

Sue, here's some PD for your DS...pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:
No, we didn't get any messages from CC. What did it say??

Hi everyone! I hope that everyone has a great weekend. Not too much going on here this weekend. Though I am toying with modifying my May trip out to Southern California. It ends up that parts of Sequoia and Kings Canyon NPs may not be open at that time. So I may leave it as it is or maybe change plans and go to another park or 2.

Chris, glad to hear that you had a fun trip!

Lisa, that is great that your son came in 4th. :thumbsup2

Susie, here's more pixiedust for your son. pixiedust: pixiedust:

Thanks for all of the good wishes guys! Finally back from the auditions - wow, what a long morning/afternoon!! And very noisy :lmao:

We will know by later tonight if he makes it or not - either way, he says he is really glad that he tried it and had a good day, so I'm happy!

I didn't get the email but DBFF did, and it said that there were select Cat. 12 cabins still available on the EBTA starting at only $699. I thought that was pretty cheap - am I right? I don't know much about it. :confused3

Wow, it's been quiet around the thread - hope everyone is well!

Guess what!
He made it!

DS found out later last night that he was accepted into the 2010 NJ Junior High School Honors Band! Thanks for all of your support - of course, it helped! :lovestruc

He is beyond excited! I think it's one of the first times in a very long time that I've seen him so excited that he was dancing around the house! Now for mom's reality - a long drive for three-hour rehearsals for the next three weeks and a concert at the beginning of March at Rowan University! yippee! I guess I better find a good book that I like! Because if I drive him there and then leave to come home, I'll be home for about 45 minutes and have to drive back! oooo - maybe I can snatch DH's laptop!

We got about 4" of snow out of the storm that the weather people around here said was going to stay well-south of us! Oops, another miss on their part - go figure! But it's really cold, and really sunny this morning, so it looks very pretty outside.

I'm going to go wake up the king musician! He's got shoveling to do! DH already left for work. He hopes to be home early. :yay:

Hope someone else hops on to talk to!! Miss you guys!!

Great news, Sue!:banana::banana: Sounds like you'll need a good, loooonnnggg book to take w/you :lmao: . And maybe a blanket, too, if you have to sit in the car.

We got close to a foot of snow between yesterday and today. Bleccchhhh. I know the kids love it, but boy does it mess up life for the rest of us.

Well, I'm sitting here waiting for my steel-cut oats to cook. We do like them, but they take a good 1/2 hour to cook. Oh, and I'm waiting for DGD20mos. to wake up. She had to stay w/us another night due to the snow. She is such a monkey! On Friday she leaned close to me, said "I love you, Grah, (which is what she calls me)" gave me a kiss, and then asked very sweetly for Sesame Street. How do you resist that??

Thanks, Mary & Joanne! I passed along your congrats to him and he said "thanks"!

Joanne, your DGD sounds adorable! And to use a famous quote - you're right - "resistance is futile!" Hope I have such a blessing one day!
