09/13/09 SSMC09 S.S. Member Cruise 2009 - Part 4!

WOW, I can't believe the awful weather we've had today! :scared1: The wind was terrible and I would guess that we've had about 3" of rain. And now, much to my surprise, the sky is almost clear and blue, but it is still pretty windy, but not like earlier!

Dave, you're right, and I bet you are getting the same bad storm now! Hope all is well with you, Tanya and the girls. :lovestruc

Hope Chris and Bob are having a good time in WDW. Does anyone know when they come home? :confused3

Mary, I have to echo Chris - I love the wedding logo that you have on your signature. It is very nice!!! I'll bet you are looking forward to that cruise, especially now during this crazy weather! :)

Diane, I did look in the Germany pavilion - as a matter of fact I looked in all of the world showcase pavilions - and didn't see any of the chocolates you were looking for. I hope Robbie can help you get them from NH.

Joanne - are you in WDW too? Forgot when you were going - senior moment!

Hi Flo - what's new in your neck of the woods? ;)

Hi Sue, no, we went last month and no worries forgetting....I'm sure you've got way many more important things to think about :thumbsup2 . Hope you're having a great time. :wizard::wizard::wizard:

Dave, so far we're still planning on the WBTA. We just have to figure out where the money is coming from!?! How about you?

Lisa, you are the busiest person; I don't know how you do it. Props to you! (I'm still hoping for a 2011 Members' Cruise on the Dream--oh yeah!) And if we do, I will be darn sure to make the sunrise club this time.

Everyone keep warm and safe.

Thanks Sue for looking, Its very expensive, I think I may have to wait a while before I order. My friend says he is going back to Germany in a few months, I think I may see if he can bring me back a few bars, its about 1/2 the price of the company that is in NH

Joanne, I also hope to be back on the 2011 cruise, and would love to have you in the sunrise club, I think it was very nice and relaxing.

Good morning everyone! Today is my prep day for my follow-up colonoscopy. I'm hoping to have much better results than last year! Not looking forward to tonight but it is a small price to pay to make sure things are ok.

We are looking forward to the wedding cruise. We'll be sailing with DIS friends we first met here on the DIS in 2003. It was in prep for the 2004 10 day Christmas cruise. We started chatting in June of 2003 and by the time we sailed I think we had the largest thread on the cruise forums. The first of the big mega threads. The bride for this July cruise was just a teenager then. When we sailed in 2006 she had turned 18 and joined the group at Palo brunch. In 2008 while on a cruise with her family and soon to be groom she was proposed to with the help of one of the entertainers during the nighttime show. Soon we'll be watching them get married on Castaway Cay. It is happening on the first of two stops on the island.

I loved the sunrise club so much I've mentioned it to them and I think I'll have some takers!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Joanne - yep, we were there from the 17th to the 21st - back home and trying to get my act together! I just can't seem to get things moving in the direction I want them to go - not sure why! :confused3

Really wish we were going on the WBTA - it sounds like soooo much fun. Hope you guys and Dave's family have a great time. Can't wait to see pictures.

And we are hoping and planning on the MC 2011 too - and you definitely have to join us for the sunrise club! We had a ball and it was a great way to start the day! Lots of fond memories!! :thumbsup2

Good Morning Everyone!

As the old song goes, what a difference a day makes!! Today is bright and sunny, although the temp has dropped down into the thirties (where it should be for January!). Looks like it will be a nice day. Have to take mom to the foot doc and hairdresser today.

I forgot to tell everyone that we did take advantage of that special offer to annual passholders (which we did this year only because we will be there a combined three times) at the Richard Petty Driving Experience! On John's birthday, we got up and went over to the speedway and got to take a three-lap ride-along for free!! It was amazing - and I may not have done it if it wasn't for the fact that I was first in line and didn't have time to chicken out! But I have to admit it was really great fun - and I'm the one who gets nervous doing 75 mph on the highways. We went about 145 mph they said!! OMG!! :rotfl2: I have pictures to prove it!! I'll put them up later today if DH downloads the chip today. Oh, and I must say, the one piece jumpsuit that you have to wear was sooooo fashionable!! :lmao: I'm sure you'll all get a good laugh - but I'm willing to share, because I certainly laughed at myself!

Lisa, how are things going in scouts? What is DS doing these days?

Good Morning Everyone!

We are back from WDW. Had a great time and great weather. Will post more later about our trip. But it was great.

Talk to you later!

Sue - Glad you decided to take advantage of the driving experience. Sounds like you had fun.

Chris - I have been thinking about you glad you made it back safe and sound and that you had a blast.

I am exhausted just reading this, Hope everyone is well, and Sue, glad you made it back alright. We are alright here. its still very foggy here, I think its been foggy all day everyday for the last five days. Nothing very exciting happening here, I am going to a AAA travel show tomorrow morning. Thats about as much traveling I will be doing this year. DH is still out of work. Trying to make every dollar stretch. well enough said, I can travel through all of you this year. :confused3 Boy do I miss you all. DH had a palm tree that was lit up at christmas with the nativity, well, that all came down, except the palm tree is all lit up in the back yard right now, I told him I love seeing it when I come home for work, It puts a smile on my face, cause I am thinkin of all of you,:love: Have a great weekend.

Mary pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: For your test. This is a regular routine in my family as we have a family history. Just had mine again this year. It is a very important test whether there is a family history or not. Hope all of our DIS friends out there are aware of the importance of this test. Don't put it off!!! :flower3:

:wave2: Sue

I swear I am not going to make this a long post. :confused3 Okay, I am going to try hard to keep in short and sweet. Notice how I did not respond individually to all your posts. Just a quick wave.

With a quick summary here.

Now I know you all are busy. You all make it sound like I am doing something unusual but I am pretty sure I am no different than all of you. I guess if I did not have all the drama of school for myself things would not seem as crazy. I am dreading this next class. I really do not want to do any more school work at all. If work was not reimbursing me for it I am not sure if I would have stayed with it this past year. I really love spending time with the kids and participating in their activities. My schooling really takes it's toll on me these days but being so close to finishing I am really :woohoo:

What a relief it will be to finish. I just can not put to words how happy I will be when it is done.

DS and I will be finishing up with cub scouts over the next month. His Blue & Gold Banquet where he receives his Arrow of Light badge and crosses over to Boy Scouts is March 1 which I need to help coordinate. He has one more badge to complete and then he will have earned all 20 activity badges. After that he will then move on to the Boy Scout Troop. We attended the Troop meeting this evening. The boys in my den had fun. Of course they are trying to recruit the parents into helping. I will participate but I am going to hold off until I am done class. Plus DD is joining Daisies which is the first level in the Brownies/Girl Scout organization. We are starting late in the year but right now the meetings conflict with our cub scout night.

The kids and I are doing an overnight camping trip with our pack this Friday night at the Delaware Museum of Natural History. That should be fun. As long as this cold I am coming down with does not get worse.

Okay, so you all knew it would not be short. Maybe a little sweet but definitely not short. I will end it here. I am tired and need some sleep.

Oh, one thing (sorry)that just made my day. The alumni event up at school this past Friday night. Well, several people said. WOW! You have not changed a bit. You look just like you did in college! (over 20 years ago??) :worship: I almost fell over. Thank goodness they had not seen me a year early. I still have a long way to go on the weight loss but boy did that make me feel good. I still have about 30 pounds to go until I would be anywhere near my college weight but it was nice either way. Oh, and I do not think they were close enough to see all my wrinkles, the dark circles under my eyes, and the gray roots just starting to appear. So, all and all it was a good evening. Maybe they were just being polite or need glasses. Who Cares!?!?!?! Right?? :confused3

Take care everyone. Have a good week. Be Safe!!

Hey!
Did you all know there is a limit on how many images you can have in a post.
I just found out on my last post!! :lmao: I had to remove some to get it to post. :lmao::lmao:

25 images is the limit in case you were wondering. It does count the images in the posts you are replying to so they were not all mine but this was a first.

:surfweb:Good Morning Fellow Cruisers and Sunrise Members! :surfweb:

Hello all,

Chris-Glad you made it home safe and sound, and I know what you mean about coming home to bad weather! Wish we could have just stayed. Time to add 2000 points and never leave...lol

Mary-Hope the tests all come back with good results. I sure miss our morning group as well, what a great time we had!

Lisa-:rotfl2: You still amaze me with all you handle, I'm sure it will be nice when this last class is finally over!

Flo-Hope all is well

Sue-There are still openings for WBTA, I can put a hold on a room for you...:lmao: Hope all is well and you get back in the swing of things!

Joanne-We are still in as of now, my DW hasn't backed out yet...She even made mention of 2 weeks away, this will be a first. We booked everything thru Disney, so we don't have a room or flight schedule yet. I see everyone is making all their plans and staying over before the cruise, but we will fly in the day of. Are you flying over early?

Have a good day everyone!! Really missing our morning beverage meetings!!!

Hi!

Sue - I'm sorry your trip had some bumps in it. But glad that it didn't dampen your good time. Dustin must have been so happy to be feeling better by the time you got down there and that he and his friend had a great time. The driving experience really sounds like fun. Can't wait to see your fashion photos! :rotfl2:

We had a wonderful time down there. We really didn't do a darn thing. The weather was great. Upper 70's almost 80! Shorts were most appropriate during the day and I did need a light jacket at night because it cooled off a bit. I have to say that we are very spoiled people. We had booked a studio for this trip since it was just the two of us and, if you are familiar with SSR we were put in the Paddock. Our first time to stay there. We asked for the Grandstand area but they said no studios were available. Well, lets just say a studio just wasn't our cup of tea. We really, really, really like to be in the Grandstand area and we really, really, really wanted to upgrade to a one bedroom. So first thing Saturday morning we went and asked if we could upgrade and if anything was available in the Grandstand area. And, YES, there was a unit available and ready. :woohoo: We said we'll take it! While DH did all the paperwork I took the very long trek back to our room at the Paddock and started packing. DH was back shortly and we were moved into our new room by 8:30 Saturday Morning. We couldn't have been happier!

We were in no big hurry to go anywhere or do anything. We just wanted to enjoy not having to wear heavy clothes and our winter coats and soak up as much sun as we could. We finally made it to EPCOT and just meandered around. And Sue, please don't shoot me for this, but the crowd levels were really low. And this is Saturday! We got FP for TT because we wanted to go out and get some lunch before we rode it and when we rode it is was basically a walk on. As were all the rides while we were there. On Sunday we went to MK and most of the rides said there was like a 10-20 minute wait, heck that was just walking to get on the ride. No waiting. We just couldn't believe it.

On Sunday night we had a reservation at Yachtsmans Steakhouse. OMG! If you ever get a chance to eat there we highly recommend it. We are hoping to get a reservation there with the girls in March. They would love it. It was excellent. We both had the Filet Mignon and both were cooked perfectly and were so tender. I want that steak now!!!!!!

But, we now know that we must be going to Disney too often. While at HS we always like to take a break and have a refreshing beverage at the Tune-In lounge that is at the 50's Prime Time Diner. Well, while we were there this time the bartender said that she recognized us as having been there before. We just started laughing and laughing because we remembered her too! So when we were leaving we told her we would be back again in March and she said see ya then! So funny.

Well, this is getting to be quite the post. But I love WDW and could talk about it all day. :rolleyes1

Have a good one! :flower3:

Good Morning!

Just a comment on the timing and crowds.

I have found that whenever we go over any type of long weekend holiday the crowds are bad.

Sue - I do not recall your specific dates but my guess is that you were there over MLK holiday where Chris was not.

A few years back we went over President's weekend. Thank goodness we went a few days early because we had a couple of good days but when it hit Friday the crowds got heavy and on the weekend...OMG!!!! It was unbelievable.

That was the year that the new Nemo ride opened in Epcot and on Sunday the line for that ride was almost to the walkway thru Innoventions. I am not kidding. I could not believe it.

I also waited in line 30 minutes tryingto get FPs for Test Track and did not even get them.

So, for me it is well worth it to take the kids out an extra day or two from school then to vacation on those holiday weekends.

We do go over Thanksgiving but we learned after the first year to schedule extra days after the holiday and to do 'other' things on the busiest days.

Chris - glad you had a great time. I can not wait for vacation. It seems so far off.

Good Morning Everyone! Especially my Deck 9ers!!

I'm so glad that you didn't hit the crowds we did, Chris! It was really bad - or I'm just so spoiled with being there when there is no crowd that it seemed that way to us. There were not many walk-ons, although later in the week when we were there was much better than the beginning.

And we're just like you guys, we are so spoiled that a studio now feels "tight" and we like at least a one-bedroom if not more! I wish I could get my DH to relax like you guys did. No, "Walt" needs to be there when the park opens! Maybe someday we can take one of those relaxing type stays! We'll see . . .

Lisa, you are right about holiday weekends - they are usually very crowded because of the local folks who come in. But we've been there before around this time and is wasn't that way - I know other holiday weekends definitely are, like Presidents day. But we talked to some cast members who said that the travel specialists for Disney had gone down to South America, especially Brazil, to pitch some "specials" to try to get these groups in during their summer holiday - and it obviously worked, because they were everywhere!

Haven't been to the Yachtsman Steakhouse before, but I have heard that it was very nice. Glad you liked it, Chris - we'll have to give it a try. We went to Le Cellier in Canada, which is usually one of my favorites, and it was okay, but not great - I was kind of disappointed, although our server was fantastic! Next day we ate at Raglan Road in DTD, because we were shopping and the boys were in Disney Quest. That was a fabulous meal!! i had their steak and it just melted in my mouth - fantastic!! And their dessert called Bread and Butter Pudding is to die for!! :thumbsup2

Gotta go rinse the camo from my hair - brb. :lmao:

Hold on tight to that room Dave - if great fortune comes my way, we're there!! :rotfl:

Really miss our mornings, too!!

Good morning all! Back from my procedure and things look good. He did find one polyp and it need to go for analysis (which could take a week or so) but he doesn't expect it to be anything. Otherwise everything looks normal and I just have to go back next year for another follow-up.

Thanks to everyone for being here for me the past year.

Chris - I agree with you about Yachtsman Steakhouse. I love it there and the food is to die for. Have you ever seen the segment with Samantha Brown there (I think she was staying at the Beach Club it was a segment of Great Hotels).

Mary, that is fantastic news! I'm so happy for you and will send extra prayers for your continuing good health! :yay:

Lisa - That sleep over sounds like alot of fun. Hope your cold does not get any worse and you can go.:wizard:

Chris - Sounds like a relaxing time. GOod for you.

Mary - I am so happy that the test turned out good.:thumbsup2

Dave - Things are fine here. How are you Tanya and the family?

Hello everyone! Hope all is well.

:surfweb:

Mary - so glad that everything went well for you. What a relief that must be. Here is to continued good health through the year! And I don't believe I have seen the show about Yachtsmans with Sandra Brown. But I bet it was good. I like her.

Sue - Yes we did take a relaxing trip this time. And in the past we have tried to make rope drop or EMH at whatever park is open, but not this time. However on Sunday we did, and we weren't even trying, made rope drop at MK. We couldn't believe it. But we really just enjoyed being at the resort this time. Ahhhhhhhhhh.

And I'm glad that Raglan Road was great for you guys. The last time we ate there is was terrible. The other three times we have been there it has always been great, but I don't know what happened the last time we were there, but yuck. We will have to give it a try again though. Maybe we were just there on an off night.

Have a great day! :flower3:
