Good morning everyone - happy Friday!

I'm glad the weekend is almost here as I am beat. This round of chemo seems to have taken more out of me than the others. Maybe it was the shot. :confused3

Chris - what a wonderful honor your DH paid to your Grandfather. It truly shows his character. I hope your sad days are replaced by happy memories.

Good Morning!!

Just wanted to check in real quick before I got connected with our system at work.

I started my class Wednesday night so I will not have much time to post here. I will keep up with reading when I can but with a 7 week class that has only 6 sessions left I will not have much time to post. In the remaining 6 weeks, I have 5 quizzes, a research paper, and a presentation. :scared1:

Mary - I am so glad you were able to get your chemo. Sorry it's taking it's toll on you this week but get some rest this weekend.

Annmarie - Glad to see you are back posting here. So sorry to hear you have not been well. Take care of yourself and look forward to meeting you on the cruise. The kids and I are also staying at BCV prior to the cruise but we booked transportation with DCL.

Chris - So sorry to read about your grandfather. I recently lost my grandmother so I know how emotional that can be. I was just so happy that she lived a long happy life. What more can you ask for?? Your recent post also brought a tear to my eye. What a wonderful thing your DH did for you. Those types of tributes are so heart warming. I know when DS participates in the Memorial Day wreath presentations with the vets and other scouts it is always an emotional event.

Marsha - Glad to here DS is better. DD and DS have both had pneumonia in the past. Not a pleasant experience.

Loved the pictures of the Moose. I will have to show the kids when I get a chance. They will love it.

I also have a trip to Alaska on my Wish List. If it is on a Disney cruise that would be even better.

Take care and have a great weekend!!!

Will check in whenever I can.

Lisa

Wow. I just want to say Thank you :thanks: to you all for such kind words. You all actually brought tears to my eyes. This is one of the greatest groups of people. And I can't wait to meet you all. :grouphug:

Happy Friday!!!!!!

Well, it is a chilly start to our morning here. We are in the 50's!!! :scared1: Tonight they are even talking about record breaking lows. It feels more like fall than summer around here. Today's high is only to be 74. That is a little too cold for me. Come on 80's!

Mary - sorry to hear your chemo has brought you down this week. Hopefully you will begin to get some energy back soon.

Lisa - you sound so busy. What kind of classes are you taking?

Glad your back on Annmarie. Hope you are able to stick around.

Well, gotta get to work. Have a great day! :flower3:

That would be great Susan. I'll check into the cost of transportation for the four of us. If anyone else would like to join us, just let me know and we can increase the size of the vehicle and hopefully everyone saves money $$$$
Annmarie

That sounds like Tom and I. One of our many trips to WDW, Tom and I went into It's Tough to be a Bug! If anyone has never done this at the Animal Kingdom, I won't spoil the fun. When DH and I left, we both said we needed to our Dson in there for the surprise! lol

He was probably 16 or 17 and he usually went to the parks with the many friends we brought to WDW. That's one of the reasons why we bought DVC. It"s great to enjoy it with "family" and friends. Any way back to our "trickery". Of course we couldn't wait to see his reactions. I wish we had a camera with us because it was priceless. :rotfl2:

Now when we bring up AK & It's Tough to be a Bug, he will call us JERKS (and some times he will call us something else). I'm still glad we did it. lol

Annmarie

Ok, cool, you check out the price...let me know.

I love the Bug show...and I love the watch anyone who has never been there before and laugh like crazy. I still laugh like crazy when I get stung...LOL

JERKS...I think that is so funny too...of course, I laugh at everything. My DD sent me this thing on facebook the other night....to take an eye exam..ok, so I will do that...it was 1am, very dark, I had my laptop on, and I was taking this eye exam....the letters got real small so I put my face up to the screen and hit continue...and RRRRRRRRRRRRRR, this horrible frightening creature blasted to the screen screaming in my face. I nearly had an accident in my pants...I screamed, the dog barked, and DH slept through it. I nearly fainted...I have been calling my daughter a JERK ever since!!! I can't tell you how much that thing scared me because I wasn't expecting it.

I am so glad it is Friday...and I wish it were 4pm...wishing my life away again.
No plans for this weekend. Makayla and family are at Smith Lake in Virginia, Cameron's mom (DD) had her wisdom teeth cut out yesterday, she had a cyst with one of them...YIKES..that's why they tell you to have them removed....and no one else around. So, a peaceful weekend, I hope. Maybe I will take a trip to Washington DC to the Holocaust Museum...I want to see that and have yet to get there...need to work on DH...

Susan

Hi,
I'm smillingjack's dw. This is only my second time at looking at the disboards. Looks like I've missed out on getting to know everyone. Well, better late than never. I am a long time DCL cruiser - every year, sometimes more than once/yr. Especially enjoyed member cruise last year - our (DH) first member cruise. We also went on the Medcruise a couple of years ago. Also, our oldest daughter and I look forward to cruising every year and yes it's with DCL. Enough!

You had mentioned something about renting your vacation points. Can you tell me how to rent points? I know nothing about this and it sure would come in handy at times. You also mentioned that you will be retiring in the near future. I will be retiring the second week in August. Hope to stay retired but don't like the economy.

Well, I hope to get to know everyone a bit better and look forward to meeting on the cruise. Thanks, Smilingjacks DW.

Just wanted to say, sad day today, :sad1: cuz it was my grandpa's funeral. I will miss him very much, as will we all. But I just want to give a shout out to my DH because I am very proud of him. My Grandpa served in WWII, and was a retiree of the Iowa National Guard of 30 years. My DH also served with the Guard for 26 years, retiring in 2006, and in grandpa's honor he wore his dress blues today while serving as one of the pall bearer's on my behalf, because it was grandsons and grandsons-in-law. He not only honored Grandpa, but made my uncles cry, and my mom very proud because they knew Grandpa would have been so happy to see my DH that way. Which, my DH is very private about his military career. And to have him share that with my family, it meant so much to me.

So, thank you to DH so very much. Grandpa would be proud!

So cool Chris. Brought tears to my eyes. It helps to remind me how thankful as Americans we should be for all those who have fought and continue to fight for our freedom.

The Magical Cruise Company dba Disney Cruise Line DID have an application in with Alaska for approval. However, earlier this year they withdrew their application. I am going to ask Captain Henry about it when I am on the Wonder on August 13th.

Welcome aboard...do you have a first name, or do you want us to call you Smilingjacks DW?

Lots of cruisers here on this board...this will be my 3rd with DCL and my first member cruise. Looking forward to it.

I have rented my points here on the Dis with great success. Under the DVC board, there is a thread about points for rent. That's what I did. I listed how many points I wanted to rent and the price $11 or $12, and I would not go lower or you will probably get people who are just looking and have no intention of paying you...you do all the work calling MS and getting the reservation...and then they don't want it. So, I would keep the price at $11 or $12 or whatever. You also have to list when the points are good...like say my use year is Oct and the points I have left are borrowed points and expire in Oct...so you list 100 points, must be used before Oct 1, 2009, $12 a point.
Now comes the part about resorts....so, my home resort is SSR...can book up to 11 months out for SSR, all others only 7 months from today's date. So that way people understand. I require a deposit of half and then the other half within 30 days. I do not give refunds. You will find people who do, but I don't. It is really up to you how you want to handle it. I rented points from a lovely person before I bought into DVC...wanted to see what it was really like before buying. So, then I had all of these developer points and I ended up renting. I also rented to pay for a cruise. If you need help, pm me. There is a lot of information on the DVC board about renting, under the operations thread, and contracts. I made up my own contract spelling out the details. I think I have rented to at least 12 different people and have never had a problem. It is a lot of work, though, checking if reservations are available, getting back to the person who wants it, and waiting for their response. On the Dis, you can only rent points, not a vacation...say you have a week at AKV over Thanksgiving...you cannot rent that unless it is within 30 days of the arrival date...then you can list the reservation.

I am hoping to retire 2/2002...we'll see. DH is same age, but he has more years in the gov than I do and he could go at anytime. He may retire 2/2010, don't know...but I am so tired of working...and it gets harder every year!

Still not feeling 100% but getting better slowly. I did cancel lunch I was having with some girlfriends because I'm jut not eating much food right now. :) Looking forward to a restful weekend. We're going to see Harry Potter tomorrow morning and then tomorrow afternoon I have to go to a memorial service for the Father of a good friend and co-worker.

Good Morning and Happy Saturday, Everyone!

Wow, it has been a very crazy week and I didn't get much time to caught up with everything! Camp is running along just fine, had my waterfront inspection and passed with flying colors, and all of the campers seem to be having a great time! I, being the rules-minded old person that I am, have made a few of the junior counselors unhappy. They are not supposed to have cell phones with them, let alone out for campers to see. So I have started to take them away and then they get them back at the end of the day. It just makes me so mad that these kids can't seem to live without their "texting". Either that or I'm just getting older and have less patience!! :rotfl:

Mary, I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling your best, but I'm sending prayers and happy thoughts your way!! Feel better soon.

We just booked our transportation down to the port. We're arriving on 9/10 and spending those days at SSR. I had called to see what time the DCL bus picked up there and they said about 12:45 or later. I really wanted to be down there sooner, so we called around and got a limo for the 6 of us, and it will pick us up around 10 - 10:15. And it will actually cost us less per person than the DCL bus. So for us, this was a good solution - I'm happy with it.

Woke up at 3 am with a migraine, but trying to get myself together as we have a boy scout troop pool party at 1 pm. Need more COFFEE!

Happy Saturday everyone!

Well, this afternoon I went on line and ordered a couple of swim suits for the cruise. Of course, I am not sure why I ordered them since I will probably be in shorts and a tee shirt much more often than in a bathing suit for the cruise. :rotfl2:

Mary - Sorry you had a bad week. :grouphug: I hope you feel better soon! By the way, thanks for updating the "front page" with new information.

Lisa - Wow! 7 week course with a lot to do. Good luck! I would love to get back to school. I am confident I will be able to get back to school once I'm better.

Chris - I'm sorry for your loss but glad others were able to participate. Everyone needs one of these pnce in a while. :grouphug:

Joanne - Alaska . . .count me in! I would LOVE to get onboard if a Disney got involved! How fun would that be? WONDERful and MAGICal.

Susan - I know what you mean about being anxious to meet all of your DISfriends" for the first time! Our first DVC cruise was in 2005 (and first cruise ever) was strange to me. Although I had "talked" to so many people on the Disboards . . .meeting them was something else! I am normally a shy person so that made it more difficult. I think one of the ice breakers was Mark and Mary's name tags for us. At first I thought it was kind of crazy but it really did make a difference or ice-breaker. Now I could put a face with a DISname as well as their true name. This was one of the reasons we wanted to get on the following SSMC06!

I thought someone would get a kick out of my son's reaction. I already had the watch the computer screen happen to me at work but it is

Welcome Aboard :welcome: !smillingjack's dw. Sounds like you are an avid cruiser! We love DCL and are looking into possibly of having a vow renewal aboard the Wonder next year. I would love to do that but not sure everyone could afford to take the trip with us.

I hope I'm caught up with everyone. Enjoy what's left of your weekend. I'm sure I'll peak back later! Annmarie
