Ok! Any one that has been on a member cruise.

Is the sail away party any different then a normal 4 day cruise?

Thanks

Take care

The two big differences from a regular cruise is that there will be a introduction of the guests (either in person or on the jumbo screen) and a presentation of the DVC flag to be flown during the cruise as we take over the ship!

Mary,

THanks so much! I was thinking about this as I watched the Wonder sail today.

Good morning Member Cruisers!
We sail in 6 weeks!

party:party:party:party:party:

Thanks Mary! I just love this on Sundays! It always makes me smile!

Alright, here's a silly question.
This will be the first time having a verandah on a cruise and we were wondering if there was anything that might prevent us from sleeping with the verandah door open, such as bugs, rules or any such thing.

The last time we cruised, we had a verandah (our first) and the only reason we would keep the door shut was because DS was younger and didn't want him wandering. But I don't know for sure if there is any real particular rule that says you can't keep it open. I really enjoyed mornings out there with coffee! Can't remember there being bugs while at sea - in port is another story.

Thanks for the reminder of the differences - I really forgot what it was like until you mentioned it - then I remembered the raising of the flag!! :cool1:

6 weeks!!! I can't wait !!

Flo...where do you watch the Wonder leave every sunday?? thanks, it's something my kids would love to watch (and me too!)

So let's get chatty, people!!

So if we're going to make it to the third thread, let's get chatting. We had a bad storm here around noon, and it knocked out our power for hours! After a few hours in the house without electric, we decided to run some errands and get something to eat (since cooking was not an option!)

While we were out, we picked up some really cute stuff for FE gifts!! I'm so excited to get them all together now!

Finally back home, and glad to find that the power has been restored! Now I have to catch up on everything I missed!

Chris - sorry DD didn't win - we'll all wish her better luck again! Talented kids are so much fun to watch. It always brings tears to my eyes!

Dianne - How was the Disney Train at Union Station? Can you post some photos of it? I need to find out when it is coming to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia.

Happy Birthday, Sandi - one day late!

Ray - Your car really looks FAB! Have many happy miles! :woohoo:

Button Update!

Ok so I spent the morning/early afternoon updating the spreadsheet for buttons. This will also be the sheet I send to Linda for the mini navigator.

Now it is your turn. A link to the Excel worksheet is on the main web page (right about the link to the member gallery). Link to the main page is on post 1.

Look over your info and make sure I have it all typed in.

You have until Friday August 7th to review and if you have any changes send them to me. If you don't have any changes you don't need to do anything.

Also for those who haven't sent in info the button cut-off is Wednesday August 12th. No request for buttons will be taken after that date, but we will have a few blanks available at the meet.

Mary,
Are the personalized buttons only for people who have joined and posted on this thread? When I checked the list under our cabins, DBFF, DSIL, and DB names are not listed. If you need that info, I will provide it. DSIL has posted under kplumb.

Flo,
Do you have a problem with the port canaveral cam? Every time I try to go to this site, it crashes my internet connection! Then DH gets hot!

I have another question for all -

what is the approximate size of everyone's FE? How long? How wide? And how far off the deck is the Fish itself?

Sue, I'm guessing the fish is probably somewhere about 5 1/2 feet or so off the ground and there's not that much width available, so an FE 6-8" wide is probably what you'd need. If it's too wide, it won't fit on that section of the wall.

Here's a question for all of you who have already done member cruises: Is the menu the same as the regular cruises? TIA.

In addition as in past years we will make gifts of buttons to all the DISers and their families. We do this as a way to identify the DISers to each other. We ask only 3 things: 1) you must be a poster on the DIS. In the past we've had people who just found our site via web searches. 2) we ask for your cabin number for the buttons so we can deliver them if you miss the meet. If you want your cabin posted on the site and in the mini navigator so others can find you great - if you want it kept secret we will do that as well. 3) only ask for a button if you are going to wear it. They do cost money and we would hate to waste the money if you aren't going to wear it.

Cut-off for the buttons is August 12, 2009 so if you are interested get your info in soon.

As noted on the website we have two DIS meets set up. These are based on past Member Cruises and what has worked well. Of course it is up to the group as a whole so if someone has another idea for time/place for the DIS meets let us know. Also if anyone is staying out by the Port Saturday night by all means set up a DIS meet there. We've done that before and it is great fun.

What you can do!

Hey there. Two questions-

I was reading this original post, and wanted to get in on the buttons.... Ok- so... we have Carrie, Ryan, Claire(8), Christian(2), and Cameron(1). We are staying on Deck 8, cabin #8000 (no don't go hanging out in front of my room all day- enjoy the cruise and all it has to offer!)
The baby doesn't really need a button- so please do not make one for him, and Christian will wear his as long as we are wearing ours. Is there a cost for the buttons? Please let me know if I need to send someone money.

It also says you have two Dis meets set up, but I didn't see anything about dates/times for meets anywhere. Can you please clue me in as to when/where this will take place. I'd love to meet all of you!!

Thanks!!
Carrie

HA! It helps when you SCROLL down on that webpage!! I was thinking I was nuts for not being able to see it!! Technology- ain't it grand?!

WOO-Hoo!! I have been trying to make a dinner reservation at Palo's for Ryan and I, and there hasn't been any openings yet. I went on tonight and was able to make them!! Yummy! :cool1:

Does anyone have a menu from there?

Watercraft Ski Adventure?

Has anyone done this excursion before? I was thinking about doing this with my daughter, Claire. This is on a wave runner, correct? (It says personal watercraft)

Thanks!

Carrie

Mary,

Sue - the buttons are for anyone who has posted and their family and friends. I checked the list on my side and have Gail, Kathy and Steve listed. I have a notation next to your resort info that says Sue, John, Dustin only but that is just for Mark to know that info only applies to the three of you. I have the button quantity listed as 6 for you. Since the list is in Excel maybe you need to expand the cell on your end to see it.

The notation I put up on the web page that buttons will only be made for those who post here is that in previous years we've had people find the website through a web search and just ask for buttons even though they weren't DIS members. Though why you would want something to identify you as a DIS member when you aren't is beyond me.

TIA.

The only differences I've seen in the menus is that on some of the Member Cruises they have added Member Cruise details to some of the desserts (like dusting the logo in edible gold on the plate or having a white chocolate disc with the logo on it). The actual menus don't change.

In addition as in past years we will make gifts of buttons to all the DISers and their families. We do this as a way to identify the DISers to each other. We ask only 3 things: 1) you must be a poster on the DIS. There is no cost for the buttons - they are a gift from Mark and I. Consider it part of our FE gift but you get it in person.

I see you have found out the meet info so hope to see you there.

Mark and I did the jet skis a number of times. It is an organized tour out to a sand bar. Mark loved it! Me, I'm not so good at getting on or off and I had a hard time keeping up with those who went fast. I still enjoyed it.
