I haven't been on a horse in probably 50 years. My grandfather's neighbors at his summer home owned a horse, Toby. I used to ride Toby whenever I could until I was about 12, and would help show him in the summers. When I was in high school, my boyfriend and I went camping on PEI. There was a stable there that would let us take the horses for the day for $5. We'd ride all over the place, including along the beach and IN the ocean. It was wonderful! I think the last time I had "interaction" with horses was when I was about 22. I attended an ag school and would help out in the barns, mucking stalls and exercising the horses (among other things). I'd love to ride again but don't want to risk these old bones of mine!

I have been horseback riding.
I used to volunteer at a therapeutic riding center and I'd get to ride here and there.
I loved the horse named Chief. He was a gentle giant. My favorite thing was trotting and low jumps.
I also got my cat from there. He was the runt of the litter and he always trotted like a horse lol.

We used to do trail rides when we were on vacation when I was a kid. The last time I rode a horse was when I was 22 years old. The horse decided to roll on the ground when I was in the saddle, trapping my leg. I never went riding again.

Love horses. Grew up riding and ride on a weekly basis. Own a quarter horse and a halflinger. Both are excellent trail horses. Confident, calm & sure footed. They enjoy exploring new environments. Just a couple of sweethearts. 💞🐴🐴💞
This is mine as well! I swear she is just as curious about new places as I am. So cool! I rode and owned QHs and Paints all my life until I switched it up and found ... an unstarted B&W 1/2 Gypsy that I bought sight unseen off only a video :earseek: ... And now I'm probably a convert for life. 🐴

A buddy of mine and I used to go trail riding back when we were in our early and mid teens. So over 65 years ago. We used to go maybe 2 or 3 times a month. We would take a bus to the end of the line and then walk about another half mile to where he various stables were.

It was an area near O'Hare Field, which had just opened then to commercial traffic in 1958 (me 14 then). Nothing out there in the area except sleepy fields and lots of stables, sleepy two lane country roads. Now all gone, replaced with giant office buildings, hotels, expressways, tollways, congestion, 24 hour airport traffic, and importantly, good memories for me, a kid then with not a worry or concern in my head.

I used to own and show my Morgan back in the 80's-90's. Sadly, he passed away and I couldn't afford another one. I went back to my trainer and rode her horses and took lessons for a few years before I met my husband. A few years ago, I leased a Morgan mare for a couple of years. I put my daughter in riding lessons at the closest Morgan barn when she was younger, as well. I'm a total Morgan snob - I wouldn't even consider another breed if I were to buy one again.

Recovering horse owner. Well, technically he belonged to my wife, but California is a community property state. But our horse crossed the rainbow bridge over 30 years ago. He was a retired cutting horse, an appaloosa my wife and I were given for free. Enjoyed about five years of retirement on 5 acres with two other horses, getting taken on a couple trail rides a month. We got him for free, but the upkeep was not free. But I was kind of stuck. When my wife was 9 her parents got divorced, her dad got custody, but her mom promised her a horse if she would move half way across the country to live with her. So she decided at age 9 to live with her mom. And the promised horse, never happened. We had been married four years when we got the horse, and her mom's promise came back to haunt, ME.

I’ve ridden a horse about 7 or 8 times in the past, the most recent being about 15 years ago.

I haven’t ridden in over 30 years, but would try again if given the opportunity.

We love Heartland in my house. Our tv is a Samsung and we can watch the Heartland channel, airing nothing but Heartland 24/7.

I LOVE horses and there's something about these regal and majestic animals that draws me to them. But even though I never have tried horseback riding I have seen it and it just looks so amazing. But my two favorite breeds of horses are thoroughbreds and palominos because thoroughbreds are so amazing and palominos because they are really beautiful. I also have read about Gypsy Vanner horses and they are very special and unique and they also have a wonderful personality but they are a rare horse breed because few people know about Gypsy Vanner horses. But if you ever see Gypsy Vanner horses in person you'll see why they are unique. I collect horse books too and even have Heartland books and the more I read these books I think horseback riding sounds really neat

Heartland is a Canadian show filmed on location in ranch country about 20 miles from me. It’s too sappy for my taste but it has a huge following and I’m glad you like it. :goodvibes
Wow….that’s pretty cool that you live so close to where the show is filmed. The show is sappy (that’s a good word for it). but that’s what we like about it. It’s a nice show to watch to escape the normal craziness in this world. As weird as it sounds, I sleep better after watching Heartland - it’s just such a relaxing show.

Heartland 24/7?!
What?!
Sign me up!!! LOL!
Seriously….I’d love that.

We have ponies (one is a mini). Our DD18 competes in mounted games. It's a sport that is more popular in Europe than in the states (it was started by Prince Philip). DH and I don't ride.

Heartland was a staple in our house as DD18 was growing up. I think she still watches it now and then!

I got the idea in my head when I was young that I wanted a horse. Actually trying to ride one, really wasn't my thing :sad2: I was terrified.

.......so just exactly what is your history 🤔🤔🤔... with the movie City slickers.,.it was on antenna Outlaw channel yesterday

Just returned from a week at a guest ranch in Colorado. I spent at least four hours a day riding “my” horse.

The vacation is all my little kid dreams come true without the cost and commitment of ownership.
