08/08/07 Well, Olbia Monkey's Uncle! We're cruisin' on the 10nt Med Cruise!

We have already discussed earplugs and are planning on taking them. I have also had another conversation with a supervisor at DCL and they are working on moving our staterooms. If they are not able to, I will be OK because I now feel like I have had a discussion with someone who said something other than Disney assigned you the best available in your GTY category and we have lived up to our contract. Then offered to upgrade us to a higher category for an additional amount of money. The supervisor understood my concerns when I explained them and promised to get back to me within the next few days. Either way, we are on the ship and are happy to be going. We are not going to allow the room assignment take away from our excitement for the cruise.

Donna

UGH!!!:confused3 We still do not have a room assignment!! I guess this is what you get for being the bottom of the barrel. Did anyone get an upgrade? That is what we were hoping! :scared:

:cheer2: That's the spirit, Donna !! But good luck with the cabins !!

I have decided that I need a brake from thinking about this cruise. So it's just as well that we're headed for the beach ! I was on the phone way too long with DCL and DVC with what I thought was a simple question. I won't bore you !

How is everyone getting to their hotel and/or pier. Using DCL transfers, hiring a taxi service or just hailing a taxi ? Thought we would be using DCL transfers, but now am not.Would like suggestions.

No, we did not get an upgrade, but am very happy with our cabin...6630,toward the AFT. And not near the laundry room :laundy:

I'll catch up with you guys on the 15th. Oh, did we ever get a total for the # of gift bags to make ??? :grouphug: GINA

Hi Donna,

We are on a Disney ship. There will be kids running around in the hallways at half past one a.m. I am going to look at the earplugs from BestBuy as someone had suggested. I don't like a lot of noises as well but what the heck, al least some of the children are having fun at the wee hours. We are paying for them so might as well let them enjoy just as long as I don't hear them. With that being said, I hope Disney is able to accomodate you better.

Laundry issue- Did Disney offer a laundry bag where you could stuff everything into it and they charge a flat fee for the bag? I don't remember which cruiselines offered that service? The last few times we did laundry on the Disney ship, if your clothes were not out of the dryers the minute that they were done, they were immediately unloaded from the dryers by our cruisemates and stuffed them on the only counter in the room. And if you came back five minutes late you were not very well received by others. It's all in the timing!

Every where in Northern California is 100 degrees plus with the exception of San Francisco where the fog is so thick you cannot see fifty yards in front of you and it's so cold that you need a winter jacket. I guess we'd have to wait until the cruise to get some sun. "The coldest winter I have been in is the summer in San Francisco."

Clueless

Hi Giggles,

I looked at the list of cruisers and I think you and I are neighbors on the cruise! :cool1: How fun! We'll have to be extra sneaky when we drop off our gift...

Neat, I am looking forward to the gift exchange. I just finished making my fish extender yesterday. I was having trouble finding one and I had some will the pooh fabric left over from a qulit I made so I used that. I think we will have an excursion together too. We have decided to go to La Cinta Beach in Olbia
:beach:. We picked the after noon was so that DH could sleep in a little. He is not a morning person.

Donna that reminds we, I was waiting to give you our updated information until I was sure that we were not going to change anything else. All three of us our doing the La Cinta Beach in Olbia, and Marek and I cancelled our excursion in Florance ( Florance & Pisa) Alysoun will still be going. We have decided to try a private tour with Debbi & Michelle ( and Families).

:laundy: The laundry rooms are 2096 port side, 6588 starboard, and 7596 Starboard

Hope that this is helpful

Gina, have a blast!!! :woohoo:

The Renaissance Hotel has a free shuttle to and from the airport. We then plan on hailing a taxi to the port - sounds like $20 Euro. Only took DCL transportation once during the '05 Member cruise when we had to port in Ft. Lauderdale due to tropical storms.

Donna, good luck with your rooms. Still waiting for ours. Good news is that we never stay in our room other than to change and hit the pillow. I have never heard the hallway noise, and our middle DD was one of the ones running around at 1am! ;) I think it will be even quieter this trip due to all the excursions.

Also, here is a website for anyone still doing research. http://www.italyguides.it/us/italy_travel.htm

A co-worker of mine goes every year and that is the site she recommended.

Have a great day!

Donna it looks like we will be joining you under Rockin' Bar D....I was not thrilled with the room assignments, but at least I am still on the cruise! We orginally had 3 out of 4 cabins on deck 2, but I did not want just one person in our party to be on deck 6, so DCL did let me go down in catagory so that the young ones can be on deck 6. The best part about it is, THEY ARE RIGHT BY THE LAUNDRY ROOM (only rooms left by each other) :rotfl2: but they are teens and don't care, I told them I sacrificed them for the good of the DIS members who had no desire to be fighting in the laundry room........and of course THEY DON'T DO LAUNDRY, so they will not be fighting. :thumbsup2 so 2 of my rooms are 6585 and 6587, and the other 2 so far (still hoping for an upgrade:rolleyes1 ), which I am sure will not happen are 2537 and 2539...on your end other side!

We could use a little fog here in Sacramento, yesterday was 108 and today high was only 105, getting a little delta breeze as we now only at 97. Thanks for pushing a little cooler weather our direction.

Jocelyn - are you staying at The Renaissance Hotel (Marriott) prior to the cruise? :grouphug: We will be checking in on the 6th, if so the girls could meet and get to know each other before the cruise. We are actually staying there after the cruise too.

Thanks for the information on the taxi serivce, $20.00 in Euro's sounds good, what time were planning on heading to the port?

Chuck

Thanks for the heads up on the cabin number -- we are in #8566 - looks good, although we have never been on that side of the ship. Also, I see some others are staying the night after the cruise in the Renas. -- as are we before our early morning flight out on the 19th to Amsterdam.

I don't know if this makes a difference in the gift exchange, but we have 3 people in our stateroom, not two as listed.

Just to make sure - the gift exchange is by #of staterooms?

Thanks,

Sharon

Was checking just like everyone else and Disney assigned us to room 5624:yay: makes it feel like we are getting closer.

Chuck

I have my work computer with me and for some reason I can not edit a post on this computer. I see I have some updating to do and some corrections to the list need to be done. I will make those corrections and updates either late today, after I get home, or tomorrow.

I think the gift exchange needs to be cut off by July 15 to give people a chance to get the gifts. I will also post the counts of people and staterooms when I get home. The gift exchange should be fun and remember, it is up to you whether you want to provide a gift per person or per stateroom.

I too have been reading the blogs and the trip reports and have found them to be very informative. They have changed my mind about a couple of excursions and put me more at ease on others. I think we are fortunate to be the last cuise in the Med because they will have the kinks worked out by the time we go.

How cool is that. Yes, we are checking in on the 7th probably around 1:00pm, we will already be well adjusted to the time. Our plans are to do a bit of sightseeing in Barcelona and eating out - maybe we could all join for sightseeing and/or dinner. That would be so great for the girls to meet prior. :dance3: We are also staying the 18th at the Renaissance.
Let us know. This is really getting exciting! :thumbsup2 Jocelyne

No, we are on a 7 AM Iberia Air flight to Amsterdam. We are staying 4 nights in Amsterdam before returning to the United States. My friend who is traveling with me - her parents are from Holland - and she is going to show her daughter (and me) some of the highlights. We are in the Marriott in Amsterdam.

Very nice. We are going to Amsterdam for 10 days before the cruise to visit with my DW's aunt who lives in Amsterdam. We have been before but we now have freinds there as well. We enjoy the museums and walks along the narrow streets close to the canals.
