08/08/07 Well, Olbia Monkey's Uncle! We're cruisin' on the 10nt Med Cruise!

Since we will be arriving in Marseille on Assumption Day....a national holiday, does anyone know if many things will be closed?

We're going with a private guide ( Provence Tours ) and they said most of the shops will be closed, no markets but the museums and churches should be open.

If any of you can get to St Remy ( near Les Baux ), there's going to be some festivities : parade of 50 decorated horses pulling this huge flower cart. Also, bulls running ??? But, Tania said not like bull fights where the bulls get killed.I really don't know what to expect. :confused3

I like the idea of buying tickets in advance to avoid long lines but if we are to do it on our own we may need to figure out how long does it take to get there. First the tender, next the train or bus, then comes Pisa. According to the link we need to specify the time that we would like to visit and pick up the tickets 30 minutes prior to that. What a chore, but we love it. Planning to go to SF Chinatown to look at some goodies!

Don't know, but-

Anyone know if they're dividing seatings up into 6 diff ones this summer? - ie 530,545,6pm,8pm,815,830 ???????

Anyone know how the childcare is ? Same kid activities? Same as always? I heard there were way fewer kids to be had on the Medi.....?

Still mainly Americans on board? or Lots of foreign types?

Any celebrities yet been on board?

Anything special planned = since HSMusical2 launches on Aug 17th - when we are on board???!!!!!!!

Gettin Excited!!!!!

Hi -

I have been reading all the posts and benefiting from everyone's great advice, but I haven't yet officially joined the group. So, if you are updating the list I thought this would be a good time to add our information.

DIS Name - Miclen
My group - me, DH, DD15, DS 13
stateroom 7086
late seating

And we'd like to participate in the gift exchange

Welcome!!!

Vailcruiser,
My son sent a reply to your daughter, but I kept getting error messages when I tried to send, so let me know if you didn't get it.

Thanks!
Jen

Also, does anyone know if we can make additional Palo reservations on board?

Hi Jen,
No luck, she did not get the message. Click on our name and try a pm. She will be excited to receive it.

My DD is getting very excited :cloud9: to meet her new friends in person - I am so glad we joined this board!

Gina, thanks for the water info. And yes, we keep changing our mind on excursions as well so don't feel bad - although our attitude is pretty much whatever we see is a bonus!

The countdown is really on now. Also, those of you with assigned rooms, could you please let us know when your final document packets come in... my DH seems to think ours will arrive at the last minute seeing we have a GTY category. Looks like some on other Med Cruises have been receiving it a week before, when DCL assigns their room. Not sure if that will be our case, but if it is we'll be in Amsterdam. :scared1:

Talked to DCL last week and asked about the cabin assignments. We are a Gty Cat 6, and I was told that we'll have our cabin # when we receive our DOCS 2-3 weeks prior to sailing. Gina :cloud9:

Do the on line check in and then you don't have to worry about the documents Disney is sending out. You can even do it now. the only thing you will not have is the luggage tags and you can get those at the port.

Hi Donna,

Would you please add us to your gift exchange list. We are in room D2077, early sitting party of 4. Thanks. Once you've finalized the list would you post the cabin numbers, and number of people in the cabin so we could plan ahead of time. You cannot miss our room as it will be the only one on the ship with a San Fran fish extender.

Robert

We fell off the front page :coffee:

We leave exactly 6 weeks from today to head to Barcelona.

My husband is going to throw me out before the date gets here!!!

I'm the one who's "Type A"

I have updated the gift exchange list to include the number of people in the DISer's party and the stateroom numbers that I am aware of. Some of us are waiting for stateroom assignments and I will update the list when we start receiving our assignments.

Thanks Donna

We have 4 staterooms, but we are GTY still. I will let you know as soon as I know........which I am hoping is "any day now"

Just a quick hello to our new DISers, thanks for joining! :cool1: Donna, you have done such a terrific job, I cannot wait to meet you. And, I am THRILLED that we have changed our meet to embarkation at 4:00! YIPEE!! I can say hello to all of you with my family in tow!

Donna, I did have a slight tweak to our excursions. For Palermo, we have switched to the Mondello beach trip (morning excursion). We are still hoping to do Mondello beach on our own, but I don't get a warm fuzzy from the other boards on trying to do this beach on your own. :headache:

We are getting excited like everyone else -- it is almost here!!

Vailcruiser -- I will try to get my daughter to PM your daughter tonight or tomorrow if possible. I was out last week, so catching up this week!

I called Disney today... I have heard rumors that Disney was providing a free shuttle in Marsellie and Palmero. I had confirmed Marsellie earlier and they just confirmed that there is one in Palmero. They however were not able to tell me where the drop off is. I was wondering if any of you had anymore information on this. We are thinking of doing this instead of Mysterious palmero. I guess the highlight of the trip was the catacombs and I was thinking we could do that on our own maybe. Just wondering of anyone has any information??

Don't know about shuttles -

but is anyone doing an excursion in Palermo -

Either

THE DAY ON THE FARM
OR
SELINUNTE........ to the Acropolis ?????

BtW, what's the difference betw the Acropolis & Parthenon? Other than diff. locations, obviously! Aren't they both basically ruins with a lot of columns? I'm wondering if it's worth trekking to the Acropolis with the kiddies!? Anyone been there?

I hear it is going to be HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT & ~~~INTENSE~~~~~

Back in Post #861 on Page 58, I requested to be included in the gift exchange. I think it was missed somehow as I do not see our name on the curent list. Can we still be added? Thanx! :goodvibes

Perdita&Pongo - 4 people stateroom 6112, 2 people stateroom 6114

We initially signed up for a day on the farm... Is sounds really fun..but reconsidered it after thinking about how hot it may be. Spending time at the beach sounded more like our speed. A description of the Selinunte excursion can be found on this blog..from an earlier med cruise... http://schiffyinthemed.blogspot.com/

JeanieP and Scrapycruiser,

When you go to Rome are you bringing the kids? Also, are you planning on going to the Vatican? We are seriously thinking about canceling our reservation and trying this on our own. I just e-mailed the Bishops office to see if they will book a guided tour, however, I read further down they like groups of 20. I've also looked at the ICON site someone else suggested. Our excursion says 9 hours in the Vatican, I understand there's a lot to see, but I want to see some other sites as well (but I really don't want to miss the Sistine).

Also Nordkin - how can we all ever thank you!!!!!:flower3:
