08/08/07 Well, Olbia Monkey's Uncle! We're cruisin' on the 10nt Med Cruise!

Just checking in here! I have been reading all the posts on this thread.

Thank you Nordkin for all your work to keep us organized and "in the know"!

Please include our staterooms (6112 and 6114) in the gift exchange. Sounds like fun!

We have not booked Palo this cruise as we are B2B with the WB Repo cruise, so we will dine at Palo then.

We too are DVC members (Boardwalk) and in 6 DCL cruises I have yet to make a DVC gathering. I am determined this cruise! So I vote to move the DIS meet a little later to accomodate the DVCers. Does anyone know how long the DVC gathering lasts?

If the room is available the DISers could all meet us right after the DVC meeting. Does someone have access to the Navigators? We could stick around in the back of the room and identify ourselves.

Robert

Robert that just might work:thumbsup2 , we need to get an idea of how long the DVC meeting will last, some of you who have traveled before on a DCL might know the anwser to that question.

Vailcruiser - I see your daughter sent our daughter a message, not sure if we will have a chance to respond to her message tomorrow, but we will within a couple of days. That was very sweet of her; this is going to be fun for the kids.

Dlgrn3, glad you said hi. We are located pretty close to you in Danville, CA. Is anyone interested in having a Bay Area meet prior to the cruise?

We are also DVC Members. We have Palo Brunch from 10:30 to 12:30 PM. Isn't the DVC meet at 1 PM? We can go to that if the DIS meeting is changed. Can we meet after the DVC meet? We are open. We have late seating, would like to make the show at 06:30 PM.

Sharon

Sharon it depends on when it is, our schedule is pretty full before the cruise; but it does sound fun to meet other northern CA cruiser. We are located in Folsom, CA for those that do not know northern CA that is the Sacramento area.

Good morning everyone!

Welcome to the new folks joining the thread!

I like the cooler idea! How big? Shoulder strap or not? I've been trying to think how we can carry water around with us because I know it's going to be hot! I'm going to try to pick up some pre-packaged snacks in Barcelona. I hope that will work. If not, my kids may take a box of cereal from breakfast with them on the excursions.

I was thinking of trying to make the neck cooler things. Not sure if I'll have time. May just order from QVC. Thanks for that tip!

For formal/semi-formal night I will wear a black dress (short, not long). DH and DS will wear suits. Not sure what DD will wear yet.

If someone can find out how long the DVC meet is we could meet after that. We are not members so won't be attending.

JeanieP - Thanks for the info about Pisa/Florence. I appreciate everyone's input. I'll have to talk more with the kids and see if they can miss Pisa!

Have a great day!

UMTerp

Is there a way that we could email current DVC travelers who frequently post messages on these boards and find out the duration of the DVC meeting? I remember in the past it was about an hour. Disney people would probably introduce Animal Kingdom for sure and offer great incentives to buy more points while on board (not for me this time), and then pass out the goodies through Disney related trivia.

Hey cruisers;

We are on the 14 day crossing after you get off the ship. Has there been anyone on this cruise with a GTY status receive their stateroom assignments yet? Just curious.

Thanks
Dan

I check everyday.........and so far nothing, just GTY. I even ordered stuff for the rooms, hoping the DCL rep would have to verify a room to place the order and no luck.

:cool1: I found this on the "Bringing Home the Magic" DIS Meet thread. Seems those folks had questions too on what exactly is a fish extender. Great history too and scroll through the entire thread and you will see awesome pictures of a so called extender. I don't believe ours will be this elaborate, but now I have some idea of what to hang. Enjoy!

YEAH!!! I finally see what you are talking about!!! One of the other links on that website, brought me to another cruise, that brought me to another link - LOCKER POCKETS - I have one!!!!:yay: I found this one at either the Christmas Tree Shop or Staples in the back-to-school section. It is great for tweens. Thank you Jeanie P and everyone else trying to explain them! Funny one of the photo's I remember from 05, the door was all decorated and now I understand why!

Hi evreyone. Wow we have been active. I missed a couple days and missed alot. For the formal might I am kidnapping one of the bridesmaid dresses that my friend wore in my wedding. It is simple but formal. For the semi formal i have a sleeveless black dress with red flowers.

I was really tossing around the idea of changing my Florance and Pisa excursion after the 1st trip reports. I think I am going to keep it though. It seems lilke they are letting people shop a little now. If all else fails we will skip out on lunch. I hate to do it but I don't know that I will ever get back there and I really want to see both cities and can't afford a private tour.

As for a new meeting Time both work for us. We didn't plan anything those days Alysoun has not cruised with Disney and she will like to explore the ship and we wanted to rest up before the 7 straight days of port hopping, sight seeing and all that good stuff.

Can you believe it 45days until we leave. I am getting ready and makingmy checklist. I am sooo afraid that I am going to forget something (like toilet paper) that we need. Thanks everyone for the tips. It helped me in making my check list.

My husband is hypoglycemic and I was wondering if anyone knew if we are able to bring snacks on to the plane as long as they are sealed. Like Beef Jerk or trail mix. I can only find information about Soda. With Soda it has to be purchased after the security checkpoints, and be sealed when you enter the plane.

Happy planning everyone. :mickeybar

Gina - your future planned trip sounds wonderful. I can see now why you are skipping Florence on this trip. We don't know when we will be back to Europe. It has taken me more than 20 years to get there, so we are trying to hit all the highlights on this trip. I know we can't see everything, and I am trying not to overdo it also. The hardest days for us will probably be Florence and Rome. Cinque Terre sounds like it would be a lot more relaxing to tour. Rick Steves apparently has made it famous in his travel books.

After reading many posts about the Florence/Pisa Excursion and doing research online, our family has decided to book our own trip on "Private Shore Trips" Since we are a party of 9 and the cost is the same if we have 16, is anyone interested in sharing the private van with us? We can add up to 7 more people, (see below) It sounds like we can almost plan most of our own day and still see Florence and Pisa, so if interested check out the web site and let me know, and then I will do the reservations. Thanks

Hi Deborah,
Yes, the cost will be the same for 15 people. We charge by the “size of vehicle” so the price will be the same if your group is between 8 and 16 people. 16 is the maximum number of passenger seats available in this vehicle.

Mid Size Bus (8 - 16 People )
10 Hour Service- Driver and Tour Leader
1525 Euro

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you and I happy to assist you!

There is no problem bringing snacks on the plane. We do it all the time. I am diabetic and have to have snacks and my test kit with me as well. I have never had a problem with either going through security.

Dlgrn3 -

We might be interested in joining your private tour. There are 4 of us (me, DH, DD15, DS13) Are you doing this through Disney, or a private company? I'd like to find out more about what you want to do. Climbing the tower in Pisa is important to us. I will PM you with my email address.

Miclen

If most everyone is in agreement I will change the DIS Meet to 4:00 on embarkation day. I know we do not have any plans for that afternoon. We are just going to enjoy the ship once we get on.

Works perfect for me, I am really excited to meet everyone. I am new to the board and the gift exchange, so if someone could give me a little more info about the exchange....how it works....etc I would appreciate it....or just a link to the discussion would be good too.

thanks

We may be interested in this as well. There are 3 of us. I will PM if I can figure out how and send you my email so we can get more information. Thanks so much for offering.

Nordkin, Thanks for the tip. That was one of the things that I was starting to worry about. The closer we get the more things cross my mind. I have never traveled overseas so this is all new to me and it has been a couple years since I have flown anyways.

The 4pm time on embarkment day is fine for us as well.

4pm sounds great!!!:goodvibes It will be great to meet everyone right away.

You mentioned water bottles, do you bring them with you? Do you pack ice from the ship? Sorry, so :confused3 . But I did get a small cooler.

We also bring snacks on the plane and have never had a problem. At Christmas we brought traditional Finnish bread, wrapped in saran wrap, with us that is and had no problem. My DD's favorite is a lunchable - quick, easy and she looks forward to it every trip. Even our 2 older DD's still enjoy a lunchable?!?
