Faster dining on the Fastasy

Hi we just got back from a 5 night cruise to Spain on the Fantasy. We had second seating our servers seemed to trying to speed service up. Little small talk,helping with napkins or chairs. They cleared plates as soon as you finished. We were two older couples no kids. I talked with our Palo server at brunch and she told the dining teams have been instructed to speed things in response to cruisers comments. People want to get back doing things on the ship! Most evenings it was less than 1 and half hours. Spain has great ports BTW!

We just sailed 2 cruises in the Magic. Same serving team for both. First cruise, in and out in an hour. Second cruise, closer to 2 hours. Less people to serve on the second cruise too.

What changed? People wanting specialty items on the longer cruise. Multiple items from different restaurants. Multiple items for each course. Specialty drinks. It was insane how much people wanted our servers to do for them. I felt so bad - they were literally running the whole 2 hours trying to make everyone happy.

i always thought that the 1 1/2 hour to 2 hour dinner was just the way it had to be on a cruise. My last cruise was on a different cruise line and we were in and out in less than an hour for every meal all week. We had all of the courses and also ordered wine every evening. We had fixed time dining with the same staff but they put in anytime dining people at the tables that don’t get occupied that evening for fixed dining. Our serving team always had people being seated in their section and they were constantly taking orders, running to get food, etc. as everyone was on a different schedule. I don’t need a life long bond with my serving staff. I just need to be fed, have a few nice interactions and move on. BTW the food was excellent and made DCL food seem bleh…..
