07/22/2006 - The Oh-Seven Double-Deuce Double Dip Desperados!

Ouch, Beth! Hopefully the doctor will be able to give you something to beat away whatever it is you've got. Steroid eyedrops maybe.

My niece is kind of packed, but only because she had to pack to come up here last week. I suppose that means she's sort of already on vacation. Myself, however... I haven't packed yet. There's a pile of random items and toiletries that I know I will be packing, but it's not the same as actually packing.

Since we're only an hour away from the port, I'll worry about this later!

Thanks, Luckily all I had to do was take my allergy medicine and they cleared up overnight.

An hour from the port...heaven.....

My parents just heard about the "listing" at Port Canaveral and are now freaking out about our cruise :sad2: :sad2:

Has anyone else heard from "concerned" relatives?

Of course now they are causing me to worry.....

A co-worker sent me that story yesterday...scary stuff, indeed. It really sounds like some sort of mechanical gremlin on a new boat that hadn't been worked out previously.

Just like any other activity in life, stuff happens - even on a cruise ship. The chances of 2 such things happening within a week of each other are EXTREMELY low, so this isn't going to bother us, much.

Then again, I'm kinda hoping my DW and MIL don't see this, otherwise they'll freak out.

Howdy! Still here.

Have not heard back from Ivan. Not too worried though. If we get there and a bus with Native Choice on the side is at the port then great, if not...catch a cab and see ya at the Cat's Meow.

Counting the hours!!!!!!!!!!!

We are safely here in Orlando, staying with Friends. I think it is cooler here then it was in TN. Our flight was great and DD & DS were perfect. 2nd time I flew alone with them, 1st time without a stroller.

I felt bad for everyone who stayed up late packing. But I felt better that I'm not the only one who ends up getting 2 hours sleep before they go away.

Savagefam, glad you are back at the radisson, sorry you won't get to be with your friends.

Hope everyone finishes packing and has a safe trip down.

What happened at the port?

I went to sleep at 2 am last night (was catching up with dear friend).

We head to SeaWorld tomorrow to have some fun with DF & our kids (we're splurging and spending the night there. (1st round of laundry will be done in our 2bdrm villa before we head to the radisson at the port)

BTW I tried to pack as little as possible too. Less then 24 hrs later we have gone through a couple of clothes changes. I brought alot but I realize in FL you need more than you think because 5 minutes outside and you stink!

See you all very soon

Hi, I wasn't too thrilled to hear about the listing incident either, but that's why I don't like ships or planes to be too new or too old. :goodvibes

DBinMV, hope your eye appt went okay, that sounds frightening! And Bethipooh, we sympathize about the sinuses!

The countdown is in hours, gotta go prune out the suitcases. They don't weigh too much, but I'm convinced we're taking too much! (and I want that leftover room for "stuff").

Happy packing and traveling!

DBinMV, hope the eye is doing OK...

Well the car is packed, and ready to go....7 suitcases for 4 of us :rotfl2: Oh My...I am in trouble.

I was up till 1 am packing and ironing, so I am glad we are stopping half way today.

Safe travels everyone, hope to meet some of you tomorrow at the port. 2 more days, hard to believe.

Beth

Ok I am so excited I posted under the live trip reports...lol

Thanks...I saw 3 doctors yesterday. I get to see another one here in a few hours. So far, everyone has been consistent - they think it is Central Serous Retinopathy. The good news is that while some of the symptoms are similar to that of a torn retina, it doesn't need surgery. The retinologist will hopefully give me the final word today.

The bad news is that it is usually brought on by stress, and I'm stressing about it. :rotfl2: The other bad news is that one of the courses of action is limitiing/eliminating caffeine and alcohol. !@#! ! @#! !@#! @%@!!!!!

So, thanks to everyone for their good thoughts....best wishes to those who have already started their vacations. I managed to actually start packing last night - which is pretty good for me considering we leave tomorrow.

It's 5AM my time right now (couldn't sleep) - I'll justify this as "getting used to EDT". :teeth:

Edit: Beth, just saw your post - have a safe drive.

\Pixie Dust for that eye(and for a safe trip)!

Sure hope that eye gets better. Just think you will soon be in the "islands man" where there is no stress whatsoever. So be happy :cool1:

Hope to meet you all at the dis meet, we will finally start packing up today but won't leave until tomorrow.

Thursday is here, Friday is coming and then on the boat! :goodvibes

We are doing a private snorkeling tour on cozumel. I just receieved an email from the person telling me she heard on the radio that the Disney Magic will be the first ship to dock on the new dock.

"I just heared in the radio that you will be the first ship who will dock at the Punta Langosta pier this months heyheyhey...we almost have 2 piers fixed already..."

Good news for all who will be getting off at cozumel.

Beth, I was going to ask if anyone else had a ridiculous amount of luggage or was it just me and then I saw your post. We also have 7 suitcases for the 4 of us but we are flying. We are allowed up to 8 but I have feeling we may be upgrading our rental car. There won't be any room. My husband will probably want to tie me to the roof. Maybe tonight I'll go back and check to see if there is anything I can take out. NOT MY SHOES.
See you all real soon.

Right there with you! there are only three of us and we have 5 suitcases not counting carry-ons LOL (One suitcase is our Walgreens case AKA tolietries, sunscreens ect, some extra shoes, another is our garment bag for dressier stuff.) We too are flying( as long as the TS doesnt prevent us from leaving tomorrow night!!)

Okay- I had to post because now I'm excited!! I packed way too much for our family of 7; I'm sure I forgot something but my 10 yr old and I just got back from his world series (a week in texas) and I'm too tired to think too much about it. Told myself after the first cruise I wouldn't pack too much and now I did; it's just easier this way. (The problem is there will be no place to buy clothes if I forget the right ones for dinner or daytime.)

Anyone who is left- thank you for letting me ramble- we leave tomorrow at 1000 and hope to get to the residence inn around 700.....

see you there :)

Hi gang,

Thanks for the pixie dust and wishes - the original diagnosis was correct. Good news: No surgery needed, I'm good to go. Bad News: Sucky sight for the next 2-3 months while the condition resolves itself. Eh, could be worse - at least I still have one good eye. pirate: At least I know which eye to wear me eye patch on for pirate night..aaarrgh. pirate:

Here's to safe travels (and stressless packing for those of us still working on it - HA!). Everyone else who's already vacationing, get your Bahama Mama taste buds ready, because we're 2 days away from a sailaway party!! :cool1: :rockband:

See you all soon (with one eye, at least!)

Aarggh right back at ya! Glad it is something that you can work with and will not require surgery. WHEW! And an aarrgghh!

WOOHOO!!!! We fly tomorrow!!!!!!! Board Saturday!!!!!! Don't worry...you will all recognize me...tie-dye t-shirt, tear stained cheeks. That big ship and its horn do it to me every time...and it has been so long since we last sailed...thought we would never get the chance to do it again...WWWAAAAAAAA

Okay better now. Seriously, I am bringing my own tissues!

See ya Saturday!
