05/27/06 The First Double Scoop Group - Trip Report - Complete

Karen,
Loved it! I only wish we had more time to spend together. :-(

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your cruise report- from beginning to end! You are so funny! :rotfl2: Glad to hear you guys had a wonderful family cruise! :thumbsup2

Oh your trip report is wonderful!
You had me laughing a few times- you're a good writer!

Isn't it funny how kids are different? My Robert was so totally not interested in the activities for his age group (most of them anyway) and bummed because he wanted to do what Ruby got to do in the 10-12 age group and wished for more "free" time and kept begging to go to Ocean Quest. LOL (he's in the same age group as your son- but he's only 8... so maybe that is the difference. Who knows. LOL

However, my tween (12yr old as well) also somehow glommed a total attitude by about day 2 or 3 of this cruise also. I'm not sure where she got it (as I mentioned in my trip report) but we're STILL working on it at home to this day! She's like not herself. Either she had some bad influence on the trip (maybe that's why she kept wanting to stay with her group more than the other two kids? LOL) or she just decided to become a "teen" right smack in the middle of our first Disney cruise- either way... she's not the Ruby I remember so fondly. Oh she's always been a little sarcastic towards her younger siblings and bossy as all get out- but this is MAJOR attitude all the sudden. We noticed it on the cruise about day 2 or 3 but we didn't SEE her much while on the cruise remember... LOL So it wasn't bothering us near as much as it is now.

Not that THESE two were the bad influences (LOL) but does anyone have girls in the 10-12 age group named Mary or Emma that remember Ruby? Those are the two she remembers the most and spent the most time with- she has no clue if they are kids of "Dis'ers" or not. LOL

kids with signing in/out privileges could stay if they wanted to without parents.
Actually they were letting all kids stay if they wanted to! As I mentioned in my trip report- I went to the lab/club to "help" DH do the balancing act of being with 3 kids in 3 different age groups since it was "family" time only to get there and find out he'd checked them all in and left them and went to the stateroom! None of my kids had sign in/out privileges at that point. LOL I guess they are more lax on that than they really tell you in advance. Maybe they leave that door open for them to deny someone to leave their kids if they feel the need to (like the club/lab are packed with kids or families already/etc.?)

Really enjoyed your trip report!
I see you're another person I missed that I would have seen if we'd not forgotten about our Palo brunch on Thursday. ugh LOL

I love reading your report.

Was Palo really 3 hours or did you just chat a lot and eat a lot and it could have been shorter? I get a little antsy and could handle 1 1/2 - 2 hours at the most. Now if you ask my wife, she likes to chat and forgets to eat. We are trying to plan a Palo party of 14 on our cruise in Oct. Should be fun.

At brunch, all but the main entree is served buffet style... so it takes as little or as much time as you want it to take... we were in good company, and just enjoyed the time relaxing and eating and chatting and eating and relaxing and eating and chatting and eating... no big rush.

Dinner might not have been quite 3 hours- it might have been 2 or so... I don't remember (too much food clogging my memory at this point)... it was just the two of us- we sat and relaxed... I think service was a bit slow that night throughout the restaurant...(even though our server, Louise, was terrific). We didn't mind- it was peaceful.

Thanks for sharing your report! :goodvibes

I loved reading it. Can't wait to sail again! :sail:

Thank you, Karen, for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us! We thoroughly enjoyed "our cruise" through your eyes!!!

Great report Karen -- I don't have the energy to muster one yet. Maybe over the weekend!!

we tried to get Christopher to chill in the room for a little while so that he wouldn’t be so exhausted, but couldn’t get him to sit still long enough. Now I know why people bring duct tape

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Karen - anytime you want another "bath" let me know and I'll get Anthony all set up. C'mon - let's do it again in May 2008.

Hmm... Tuscany... another Disney Cruise... Tuscany... another Disney Cruise... eenie, meenie, miney, mo, which way do I want to go?

Lemme guess... you bring duct tape?

No, not me. We don't have kids yet (I am currently baking one in my little oven) but over the years on these boards people keep suggesting to bring duct tape. :confused3 Never could think of a really useful reason to bring along duct tape....well until now

That was one of the funniest lines I have read in a TR :lmao:

Cass,
Congratulations!!!!!!!  :cheer2: :cheer2: I am soooo happy for you. I loved your reports this summer and worried about you going off your meds. I am so very happy. Tell your hubby that I will have a chocolate croisant for him when we sail on 7/22. Again congrats.

Hey, Kiki...I'd been reading bits and pieces, but just now sat and read the whole thing from start to finish. Too funny!! Do you want me to post a picture of your great bike-riding adventure?????
