~ºoº November 27, 2010- Western Magic! ºoº~

Good morning lovely people! It is Monday once again, leaving us only two more to slog through!!!;) (at least those of us NOT going to WDW before the cruise! ;) )

Hope everyone has a fantasmic day, full of progress! See, I'm really TRYING to be positive about heading to work!!! :surfweb:

Good Morning!

Up at 5:30 with the kids (damn this time change...hehe)! It is horrible weather out...have an inch of ice on our lawn and it is sleeting...YUCK! Oh sun & warmth...I can't wait to see you!

Well have a great day!

I will borrow your positive attitude, Steph! It's going to be another crazy week at work, so much to do and I have a client in all day on Wednesday and am off on Thursday since the kids have no school.

Good Morning!

I hear you Rachael - it's sleeting here, too, but we don't have the ice buildup that you got (you are that much farther North than us!). It's crazy to see that 3 towns in CT cancelled school today - I think that is a record for earliest that I can remember!

Off to get the kids ready for school...have a wonderful Monday everyone, and as Steph said...for those of us not heading to WDW first, only 2 more Mondays to slog through. :surfweb:

Hi everyone...I am back on this thread as we are now on the cruise with you. My DH (Peter) called DCL this morning, and since the Nov 27th cruise opened back up at the cast space available rate, we were able to trade in our verandah for the 4 night leaving on Nov 28th for an inside stateroom leaving on the 7 night on 11/27. Excited to be spending 7 nights on the Magic!!!! We're going on a cruise!

Having my Mom pass away in June, and now my Dad at end of life, 7 nights of escape is soooooooo needed. Our DD (Kayla age 6) has absolutely no idea we are taking a cruise, let alone moving from the 4 night to 7.

Glad to see you back, Stephanie. :grouphug:

just now checking in! We we will on the Nov 27th cruise as well! This will be our 1st cruise ever. All three kids are super excited! How does one sign up to join in on the FE exchange? or are we too late?

We have three kids DD9, DS5 and DD3

Can't wait, just 20 more days to go!!!

Hi! Welcome aboard!!! I sent you a PM yesterday (I believe it was...days are all blurring together for me at this point!).

Thank you all for your well wishes. I think they worked. Nutty thing is we had bought tix to the John Mellencamp concert with a bunch of friends last night, so we couldn't NOT go. Unfortunately, we just ended up having dinner, watch Mellencamp's very lame documentary (which they have versus an opening band) and listened to 4 songs and had to leave because my throat felt like I was swallowing broken glass. I couldn't even talk. I was so miserable that I finally got out on the web and found this site where hundreds of people swore to the fact that if you gargle with cayenne (YES, CAYENNE PEPPER) and warm water that it'll kill your sore throat. Well, guess what? I tried it. It hurt like nobody's business, but it WORKED! I'm still crazy tired but no more sore throat! Just a little tidbit for future references. :)

So glad you are feeling better, but wow! Never heard of that combo before. Hmmmmmm...will ponder that one!

What's the best way to get in some shopping and beach time in Cozumel? We definitely want to spend some time on the beach but I'd like to know how the shopping is and if it's worth my while or should we just spend the day on a beach someplace.
Where is the best beach to go with a 4 year old?

Since this will be my first visit to Cozumel, I cannot give you a first hand account. I do know based on previous reports there are several places to shop just off the pier. I would definitely think about relaxing at the beach for a good part of the day, and then do a quick browse around the shops.

Day two of the swim meet over. Another successful day as DD12 dropped time in all four events, including a HUGE 9 seconds in the 200 breast stroke. :cool1:

If I can just get rid of this horrible cold I'd feel a lot better about everything I need to get done b4 the cruise.

Wow! That is awesome for your DD! She had a great weekend...good for her!!! I hope you are feeling better soon!

I am exhausted. DH and I (with help from DS) cleaned out our storage area downstairs and worked our butts off from 10 until 6 tonight, with about an hour break total throughout the day.

We have TONS of stuff that we donated to our local thrift store, and lots more that is hitting the garbage.

We are exhausted, but feel great with all that we accomplished this weekend in cleaning.

Now about that packing...hmmmmm

I'm exhausted just reading about your cleaning! Thankfully since mom-in-law came this weekend, it forced me to clean things up a bit earlier than I planned. Now I can focus solely on packing!

I'm right there with you...trying to be positive about work! LOL

SEND SNOW SOUTH!!!! (I miss snow...seriously.)

Welcome back Stephanie! I am so sorry to hear your dad is still dealing with his illness. Thoughts and hugs for you and your family. :grouphug:

NOw Cidny, no snow until AFTER we all get out of here for the cruise! ;)

I love snow, but don't want any anywhere NEAR time for us to leave! Wait until Christmas, please!!!

Hi Stephanie - welcome back, I hope you can enjoy this escape!

I agree, Steph! I don't want any bad weather that may impact our flights out of here! They can delay me getting home AFTER the cruise, but I don't need to stress about airport delays/weather conditions so that I can't get to MCO!

We have hit 100 pages (and I'm sure we will have many more as we are in the TEENS for the countdown!!!) :yay:

Jeff - Awesome swim meet for your DD! These days, I just get excited when my DS doesn't wet his pants all day! :)

Stephanie B - Welcome back to you & your family!

Cindy/Darcy - didn't even realize it's snowing/sleeting up north already. I don't miss living that far north (was in Minnesota for 3 yrs). I thought we had it bad here with sunny and 40. I'll try to send some sunshine up your way.

Ok, I'm out of commission again today. Had to go home b/c my throat feels so raw, and I pretty much have to talk 80% of my job, so fuggitit (does that sound Joiseyish??). So much for the cayenne pepper trick. Only works once, I guess. Need some pixie dust NOW! :(

Good news is I was able to get a portion of what I'm planning on taking separated into 1 room. Now to the other 75%.

Have a good rest of the week, folks!

LOL! I guess you guys are right about the snow. How about we shoot for December 6th as snow in Jacksonville??? (We were the only ones in FL without snow last year...even Miami saw some! Hmmph!)

OK!!! :thumbsup2 We will be in WDW, but that's ok, the kids all have winter clothes!! :rotfl:

Oh My GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ACK!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe that we leave in 2 weeks and 2 days! My list is never ending, I need to pull myself together and get with the program!

I have never been so unprepared, usually I have everything done a month in advance. We have been under a major renovation since just after Christmas last year, so we have spent this last weekend painting, painting and more painting for the carpeting to come today. Well....turns out the carpet had a flaw in it :scared1:so they could only install half of it, now we have to wait for them to get our carpet back in and then install the rest. We have just some small touch up painting to do and try to put some things back in order before we go.

Ok........going to take deeeeeeeepppp breaths all week and start to plug away! I am going to bring up our suitcases and try to start at least tossing things into them. That may help me to not feel so overwhelmed.

Weather for us has been beautiful, sunny and not too cold at all.

Hope everyone else is a little more organized than me.:goodvibes

What is the best beach break in Cozumel. We've decided to do as suggested and hit some shops near the pier and spend most of the day at the beach. We'll have our 4 year old with us so what is the best suggestion?

Jeff- :woohoo: CONGRATULATIONS to Elizabeth on an amazing meet :banana:

I hope you feel better soon . Sending well wishes your way!

Stephanie - So glad you and your family will be sailing with us! Welcome back!! :cheer2:

Annabel - Sorry you're still under the weather . Hope you're feeling better soon.

Gotta go - DH wants to order a new camera and wants me to look at it (like I'm going to know what I'm looking at :confused3 ) I think he just wants me to smile, nod and go "ooo" and "ahh".;)

Good night everyone!

My DS9 told me we need to bring special sunscreen for snorkeling. I googled it and it says Mexican snorkeling (Cozumel and other places were mentioned) requires biodegradable sunscreen. I spent my lunch hour looking for such a thing - no luck. I think I am giving up and hoping for an overcast afternoon, then apply sunscreen after the snorkeling portion of our excursion.

DH, DD, & I visited the Boatswain's Turtle Farm a few years ago on an excursion on a DCL trip. I was looking at the Boatswain's Marine Park Excursion through DCL (we always book through DCL), but the cost is double what I am seeing on Boatswain's website. They even offer free transportation from the cruise pier at 830am and 945am, with return times at 12pm and 1:15pm. I have never booked an excursion outside DCL in 11 prior cruises. I was just wondering if anyone had done this. Thanks.

We were thinking of Boatswain's on our own. I didn't want to be tied to group transportation and extra stops with a 2 year old involved. Thinking we won't be gone 5 hours, and that is what the DCL tour looks like. We wouldn't be snorkling either. Also thought about a brief stop at the beach and wanted to look through some shops in town - albeit quickly.

We always book our excursions through DCL (11 prior cruises), but I am thinking of booking Boatswain's on our own. DCL website showing $92 for adults and $72 for children. I went to their website, and discovered that their cost is $45 for adults, $25 for children for the entire park. Plus if you order online, you get 20% off. They also offer free transportation to and from the cruise pier. Seems like we may do our first excursion on our own.

We have done the island tour with Boatswain's and the Atlantis submarine on previous cruises, but DD was only 18 months old, and wouldn't touch a turtle.
