~ºoº November 27, 2010- Western Magic! ºoº~

Last year I was part of a group with 8 cabins on four different decks. It took me about 45 minutes on my own to deliver. Not bad at all!

:rotfl2:, we delivered our FE gifts in 2008 on Grand Cayman Day. We weren't able to get into port, so we went to breakfast as a group, imbibed a smig, and then went as a group to deliver them. I can't tell how long it took but it was great fun and still to this day and teased because I fell over a vacuum in the hall whilst delivering.

I'm still on the fence about joining the FE group.

Does anyone know if there is a Make A Wish child on this cruise. Bringing them secret gifts was one of the most fulfilling events I've ever done on a cruise.

Its a beautiful day in Missouri. I hope everyone's day is filled with sunshine and blue skies.

I had my 3 year old "helping" me last year and it took us about 20 minutes per delivery. I think we only had about 15 cabins and they were on four different decks. Last year, we were on a 3 night cruise and I had a delivery per night so it took me about an hour total. This year, however, I plan on delivering mine all on the same day (or possibly doing a deck per day) as everything will be packaged for the adults and each kid will get their own package. My 4 year old is learning his numbers but I don't trust him to take care of it for me. I can only imagine where the stuff would end up. :confused3

I don't remember how long it took us last year, but 45 minutes sounds high. We hit every floor.

Once Darcy gets the final list, I will make a map. It helped us get through the delivery a bit quicker (I think :))

Since DCL is allowing FL resident and Military discounts for our cruise, does that mean our boat (currently) is fairly open?

Just curious - has anybody rec'd upgrades yet? When does DCL usually upgrade folks?

(Yes, I, for one, am hoping for some pixie dust.) :tink:

Hope everyone had a good week! I for one am looking forward to the weekend!:goodvibes

I can't remember how long it took to do our FE deliveries, but it was nominal. We split it over 2 days and the kids did the delivery. A map may have been helpful, if I had thought of that!!

All for now,
Gailyn

I was wondering that myself. I noticed just a few weeks ago that there were still Cat 12 available, but those are gone now. There are Cat 8-11 left however. I'm guessing the ship will be reasonably full. They seem to find a way to fill'er up! :3dglasses

Just curious about the military discount...
Is the discount just for active military or retired as well? When I inquired back in Feb (when I booked) they said they did not have any special rates for military. If they are currently allowing it for retired, I wonder if they would adjust our rate or something.

Hmmmm...

I called to confirm yesterday as Todd is a veteran but not retired or disabled, so he doesn't get the discount. The discount goes to active, retired or disabled veteran - all of whom should have a military-issued card, which is what they need for verification.

If you booked through DCL, I would strongly suggest you call them to see about the discount. If it's through a TA, I think it's up to the TA. It's my understanding that there are many (like Dreams Unlimited) who would.

Good luck ... and thanks to whomever in your family that served! :thumbsup2

Quick question - has anybody been on a completely full DCL Magic Cruise? If so, what's it like? Do we have to fight for pools, buffet lines, etc.? What about the kids' clubs? Is it mayhem/noisy 24X7?

Also, is it safe to assume that DCL cruisers are generally respectful where kids aren't left screaming and running rampant all the time? Must admit - that's why we've not taken a DCL cruise before. :confused3

I just e-mailed our TA (Dreams Unlimited) and they are upgrading us to a category 9 room for less $ than we originally paid :cool1: I am so glad that you posted that info about the military discount. My hubby is retired from the USAF...he did 22 yrs!

Thanks again!

We took our first DCL cruise without kids (I was pregnant with our first). I actually never really noticed any crazy kids that drove me nuts and that was prior to having my own where I can tune it out more. And we were on deck 5 down the hall from the kids clubs as well. There were two kids and their parents that we saw a lot that annoyed us but they weren't running rampant and screaming up and down the halls. Hope that makes you feel better.

I think that it is safe to say that the pools are usally pretty full. But they are not that big to begin with.

We did a 4 night on the Wonder and you could tell that there was quite a few people there, but never too bad.

You will be on a 7 night Disney cruise!!! Who cares about the details, right? :-)

Good for you! With that many years of service, you all deserve it!! :cheer2:

Awesome! I will call my TA when I get home from work! DH is retired Navy, 22 years as well! I'm a disabled veteran...does that mean we get a double discount? :rotfl2:

Oh...count me in for this if we can't dock at a port (although my family will be sad to miss our excursions) LOL

No, you are not! You jumped off the fence, right into the FE!

How do we find that out? If so, I would love to bring something extra for that child!

Current tally: 26 rooms! Still waiting to hear back from RachellAtt so I can update all the numbers (the 26 rooms include hers)

Darcy and all:

I have contacted my contact that has a contact in Florida about the Make a Wish kids that cruise with DCL. I will keep you updated as to the information I get.

Happy Friday.
