„Did you feel pressured to provide only EXCELLENT ratings?“

I'll pass on the nuggets but the rest of it...ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I know exactly what you mean about "too" smoky. I avoid smoked nuts for that reason. The rest of it, the bubbly, the legroom, all of it.

Lovely. How will you ever fly coach again?

You are off to a great start...Breakfast and lunch in the lounge and No delays. Nice pictures from the air, I LOVE the leg room.

Nice luxurious flight Karin
It's funny to see Hugh Grant staring at your champagne glass ;)

It was such a nice start to our long distance flight and very relaxing. I had to go back to my photo of Hugh Grant and you are right, it IS funny.

I'm here! Late, but here! :thumbsup2

No problem being late, Mary Ellen! You have been on vacation - best excuse EVER! :goodvibes

This has GOT to be the best travel day ever!!! :rotfl2: I am loving all the food and drink!

How I miss first-class - I used to travel so much for work that I always had a million frequent flier miles and would travel first-class all the time. My how times have changed!

Right! It was a perfect travel day. :goodvibes And what else is there to do, other than eat and drink. ;)
Lucky girl, having been able to travel in first-class! Here, business class is SO expensive and we were upgraded to business for free (on one leg of the trip) in 2009 and LOVED it. Now last summer I somehow scored an affordable upgrade to our whole trip and it was the trip of a lifetime.
I could not believe it when our miles upgrade went through for that flight. I have to admit, going home we went economy and I could get used to going business all the time. Okay, time to play the lottery.

I'll pass on the nuggets but the rest of it...ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Yeah, the nuggets were a bit of a letdown, especially since we like DCL's a lot. :goodvibes

I had never tried any kind of those nuts, so we both tried, but I can tell you I won't ask for them again. :lmao:
The legroom, the converting seats and what else was to come were heavenly though. :cloud9:

Lovely. How will you ever fly coach again?

That's what I was thinking. :rotfl2: But unfortunately we were in economy on our way home. :scared1:

You are off to a great start...Breakfast and lunch in the lounge and No delays. Nice pictures from the air, I LOVE the leg room.

Thanks Elaine! Yes, it was a lovely and very relaxing start - all went as planned, so far. ;)

I sometimes say to myself why torture myself by following the food you guys get before and after you board a plane , and realize all i get is peanuts and a half of glass of soda , Unless i break the bank and buy a mixed fruit cup ?
and Wow you got a lot of leg room on that plane was that first class or did i miss reading something ?
cannot wait for what comes next ?::yes:::goodvibes:rotfl:

I found your TR! I love your trip reports. You always have great pictures and do so many fun things. Your TRs rank in my top 3 favorite people to read. (jenseib, Carol & Gary from Tagrel, and yours)

So far it seems the trip is going good.
Those scrambled eggs look good.
I had to Google Joghurt. LOL
Ooh! Love the plane with the legroom.
Not too bad of a delay for takeoff.
Hi Hugh. LOL
All caught up again.

Oh wow! Tons of leg room to stretch out. How nice! And perfect first drink of choice for take off I say :thumbsup2

I absolutely love Notting Hill...in fact, our wedding song came from that movie. The scene were they snuck into the gated community at night..

I am short enough so legroom shouldn't be a big deal to me, but I LOVED all the space you had in those business class seats! We have some trips we would like to take that involve long flights. I sure hope we can manage to afford business class on those trips!

I'm late too, but all caught up & looking forward to following along!popcorn::

I am just glad you are here and following along, Mary Ellen!

Ah, Jeff, is it torture? ;) :rotfl2:
I know we are pretty lucky they still serve decent food, even in economy, at some European airlines. That's why I always watch who is operating the flight - I am such a follower of special airlines when it comes to flying.
And to answer your question, but you might have missed it. I was able to upgrade the long distance flight to Business Class with air miles. We were on a waitlist for a few months and it came through right before Christmas. It was awesome.
Flying Business gives you access to the lounge in the airport and it is responsible for the HUGE legroom, comfy chairs and some awesome food (pics coming up). ;)

Here to follow along!

Love the details so far :)

Welcome! Great to have you on board as well. :goodvibes

Welcome!
Glad you found it! So nice to know that our adventures (and my writing it down) is so well received. :goodvibes
And you know what's great - We met Jen (jenseib) some time ago and she is such a wonderful person and good friend. And Carol and Gary from Tagrel are the reason we took our very first Disney cruise. I was friends with them on the Tagrel site and when they offered a Tag cruise we hopped on the opportunity and joined them. It was an awesome cruise and we met a lot of wonderful friends on that cruise as well.
So to be named with Jennifer and Carol and Gary makes me super proud! Thank you! :cloud9:

Hi Hugh. LOL
All caught up again.

Yes, we were definitely off to a great start! And the food they offered was really nice.
The legroom was great. It helped to keep us relaxed and able to "function" after a 10 hour flight and a 6 hour time change. ;)

Oh wow! Tons of leg room to stretch out. How nice! And perfect first drink of choice for take off I say :thumbsup2

I absolutely love Notting Hill...in fact, our wedding song came from that movie. The scene were they snuck into the gated community at night..

The legroom was wonderful! And it helped a lot that we could convert our seats to beds and caught a bit of sleep. We had had to get up super early and it would be a long day for us (26 - 28 hours), so being able to upgrade to Business was a godsend. :goodvibes

I love that you have a "connection" to Notting Hill. How fun it was our movie of choice for that flight. :thumbsup2

I am short enough so legroom shouldn't be a big deal to me, but I LOVED all the space you had in those business class seats! We have some trips we would like to take that involve long flights. I sure hope we can manage to afford business class on those trips!

I can usually fit into a regular seat as well, but over the course of a 10 hour flight and people tilting their seats back into "your space" makes for a fairly small room to move in. ;) So,to have that luxury on the long distance flight was awesome. :thumbsup2

Day 1, February 15

Here we go again ……….. - Part 3

And then it was time to indulge in our starters.

Tom ordered the

Veal Involtini filled with Granny Smith and Celery Salad accompanied by green Apple Sauce and Belgian Cheese. My choice was the

Aniseed marinated Salmon with Potato Salad, Basil Vinaigrette and Cream Cheese Mousse with Chives. And wow, were both great creations. The salmon tasted ever so lightly of Aniseed and the potato salad was well seasoned but not overpowering and went perfectly well with the Cream Cheese Mousse. Halfway through we swapped plates and I got to try the Veal Involtini. They were so good, light and perfect with the apple and celery filling. I tried the Green Apple Sauce and it was a bit on the sweet side on its own, but together with the Involtini it really gave it a great flavour.
First course, we had picked winners! Both starters had come with a

roll of which they offered several kinds on a tray and

a salad, which was fresh and crisp and it came with a very nice and light

mustard and herb dressing. And while we were eating they had come to offer more drinks and I was now on my second glass of that beautiful Champagne. As soon as we had finished our starters our plates were removed and we were in for our main courses.
Since I had ordered the fish for starters I was now ordering meat, red meat that is! My main course was the

Tenderloin of Beef with Chocolate Red Wine Sauce, Green Beans and Potatoes au Gratin. How they do it I don’t know, but the tenderloin was cooked to a perfect medium and the sauce was out of this world good. Don’t ask about the Au Gratin Potatoes as they were outstanding. Tom went with the

Pike-perch with caramelized Endive, Cream Cheese Sauce and mashed Potatoes. And it was just as delicious as the tenderloin when we swapped plates again halfway through. And there was still dessert to tackle.
So once we had cleaned our plates they were whisked away and they came around with the dessert trolley. Tom this time went for the

Cheese Plate, Ashed Goats Cheese, Morbier and natural Yogurt Cheese with dried Apricots and he enjoyed all of it. I wanted to try the

Mascarpone Pear Cake with Passion Fruit Sauce. I am not a huge fan of pears so I was delighted that there were only little bits of pear and the Mascarpone and dried fruit were the main taste components.
Once we were done with our late lunch the table cloths were removed and the tables retracted. We went to watch the end of “Notting Hill” and were handed

a bar of chocolate to enjoy during the flight. Once “Notting Hill” had ended we put up Tom’s pad and watched a few episodes of last season’s Hell’s Kitchen.

I have to be fair, we mainly watched the start and end of each episode because with such a big meal we drifted off to sleep again and again. We didn’t mind drifting off to dreamland as we had planned to head over to the Magic Kingdom until 1am, which would have us on our feet for 26 hours, so a little rest was really okay.

There was only one thing I did not like.
We had left Frankfurt a few minutes late and now the arrival time became later and later. While I would not mind otherwise but I knew that two planes from the UK come in about the same time and I was really worried what this would do to our plans if we had a long delay during immigration. But there was nothing we could do now, we would have to wait and see.

About two hours before we were supposed to land we were handed some more hot towels

to freshen up and then they started preparing the tables again.

To be continued ............

First time I have ever seen plane food that looked appealing!

I had to read this a few times, because I didn't believe that was airplane food. Looks awesome!

First class is the way to go!!

I know everyone has commented on it but - Wow! love the leg room. Being a very tall person (almost 6 ft) the hardest thing to do is long flights. My knees are always pushed into the seat in front of me and there is no way to stretch - I am very achy by the time we land.

Food on your flight is amazing. Flying for us includes some pretzels and a small glass of pop. And that sure is hard when you have a 4 hour flight over dinner time.

My DD flew to Europe last year and she constantly talks about the food on the international flights. They were not in first class but she said they kept feeding them - not that she was complaining :goodvibes She was just surprised at how much food they were given.
