Official 2014 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

It really makes no difference to me where anybody stays. There are many good choices and it will just come down to what factors are most important to each individual. I’m a numbers guy and here are some I picked off Google Earth to aid in my decision: 0.81 miles – Distance from entrance of...

Official 2014 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

The Fairfield Inn is very convenient to the Park entrance. There is also the Anaheim Marriott by the convention center. It may be closer to the race start/finish.

    Help with Patagonia for DD

Synchilla is Patagonia's version of synthetic fleece. They use it in several different garments from jackets, pullovers and vests to things like hats and gloves. It's incredibly soft and warm. It's most prominently used in the snap T I mentioned in my previous post. I have one I bought in the...

    Help with Patagonia for DD

Patagonia has a few different pullover styles. Probably two of the most popular are the snap T and the nano puff. Snap T is a fleece with snaps, the nano puff is zippered with a nylon shell (NOT water proof/resistant). I have both and the nano puff has become my go-to. It has a very wide comfort...

3 Fences in Disneyland ~ Interesting Disney Trivia

Is this thermodynamics humor? Nothing like a good geeky play on words. Well played.

The Bald and the Beautiful..driving 1000 miles to see the mouse! A live TR!

Looks like you should be fine if you're not leaving until later. Roads are just icy in spots now but should clear up as the sun comes out and warms the roads a little. Blue skies in Grand Junction right now.:thumbsup2 Road construction and possible lane closures near Vail though. If you want...

Any recommendations for a white water rafting vacation?

The options for whitewater rafting in Colorado are as diverse as the state itself. You can find options almost anywhere you go. It largely depends on the scenery you want to look at while you're rafting and the area you want to be in. Rocky Mountain National Park has options on both sides, Grand...

    Buying AP in Advance

But can you even find out what those rates are without an account? On the website it seems you have to sign in to your AP account to get those rates. And, from my email, Please note access to the Passholder Site requires that your pass be activated which can only occur once the ticket is used...

    Buying AP in Advance

I sent a similar question to DLR customer service and following is the reply. I asked because our son is begging for an AP for his birthday, but we don't have any trips planned until later in the year. Hope this helps. Thank you for contacting the Disneyland Resort. In General, Annual...

Ski or Snowboard gloves for a kid

Try Swany. The company is based out east, but the brand is very popular here in Colorado. It's what my whole family has for skiing/snowboarding. Their kids' styles are full featured, downsized versions of the adult models. Otherwise, North Face and Burton also make kids' versions.

    Wait Times Online?

Mobile Magic has very limited phone compatibility. I know its not available for BlackBerry or Droid phones. It looks as though its not compatible with any smart phones, but I didn't go through the whole list. I mentioned TouringPlans.com before and would strongly encourage you to check it out...

    Wait Times Online?

No worries HydoGuy, didn't take it as a scolding. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't crossing any lines. Thanks for keeping me honest.:thumbsup2 Now, I for one, would like to hear more about on line wait times, anyone? I have a BlackBerry, so my options are limited for apps.

    Wait Times Online?

What's this all about? :confused3 I wasn't aware of any ban and certainly don't want to be spreading contraband. Once you log into TP you can access "lines" which gives wait times and allows you to upload your wait times. I think it uses a combination of historical data and uploaded wait...

    Wait Times Online?

Check out http://touringplans.com/disneyland. Their DLR version is still beta; but early reports are saying its quite accurate. Haven't had a chance to try it myself yet. They have apps available or you can access through most any mobile browser.

    The Red Lion Anaheim Resort

There is no Starbucks in Garden Walk but there is a coffee shop, or was when we were there in March. I'd look for GW web site and see if they have a directory, pretty sure they do. If it has to be Starbucks, there is one in the lobby of the Hilton by the convention center. That might actually...

What is the best month for a Colorado vacation??

I spent 3 years living in Winter Park and some of my family is still there. While statistics show that March is the "snowiest" month, that's referring to the amount of snowfall, not necessarily snow on the ground. Beginning in March, temps can start rising which can start to eat into the base...

Thoughts On Our Half Marathon/Labor Day Weekend Visit

Great info! Thanks for taking the time. I personally would love to see a trip report and would especially like to hear about your half marathon experience. My wife is a runner and she's trying to talk me into doing a half. I told her the DL Half is going to be her best shot at convincing me.

What is the Origin of Your DIS Screen Name?

OK, while I totally find the humor in that, as an engineer myself, I'm slightly offended (;)not really). But that does give me a nice segue. In my family, I'm the DL nut. Most of the time I live up to the engineer reputation; but on the inside I'm still a kid who refuses to grow up. Hook is...
